The Direct2Drive version of the patch is now up. You can still use the in game Updater if you want.

The final version of the patch has been released and is available via the in-game updater. If you were using a previous RC version, the updater will install the latest version. You don't need to do anything. The mp servers will be updated later this evening. You have to READ the VCF because it contains new info not available in the RC versions.

The distance has nothing to do with you. It has to do with the object that is emitting the sound that is being played. Your sound card is fine.

I have uploaded RC3 with some revisions which I hope will alleviate some of the strain on low end (e.g. sub-par on board audio) audio cards. This is pretty much the extent of these audio revisions. NOTE: This RC3 version will revert to software audio mixing if the audio card does not possess at least 32 hardware channels. Software mixing is a little slower (its done on the CPU) than hardware mixing (done on the audio card) in some cases. I have to admit, I'm not a big Ledger fan but this movie surprised me. It was actually a lot of fun. Too bad that it probably won't get seen much, except maybe if word of mouth spreads. It harkens back to the days of believable tomfoolery. It has some truly hilarious bits and ALL the performances were TOP notch. 9/10

uhm, it was X3 that CGM gave 1.5 stars. The UCAWA review will be in the next issue.

That was after the reviewer had clearly indicated that they don't review patched games, how horribly broken the game was. It scored 79%. Our relatively bug free game, scored what? Why? Because the reviewer didn't think that it was a big step from the previous game. X3, which started out as an add-on and doesn't even have half the improvements over X2 that UCAWA had over UC. There was tons of X3 ads in PCG (and other mags) going back many moons. Oh well. ps: This month's CGM gave it 1.5/5 star

Your SB Live! has 32 hardware channels, so there is little or no strain on the card even though 100 more (virtualized) channels are added as-needed based on the number of sounds being played. I found myself observing this scenario mostly from the external view while switch from target to target using the . and , in the F10 camera view.

Rubbish. Don't even bother. I only went to see it because I wanted to see Bloodrayne as well. After the first 30 mins or so, if you don't walk out and demand your money (like I did), then you have more tolerance than I. Not worth watching. At all. Now if Uwe had made this, everyone would be all over the place. The depiction of video game industry, from the lead developer/designer right down to the testers, is just the type of condescending shit that I thank God I never get to be in the same room as the writers who come up with this shit. 0/10

I just saw it and it wasn't half bad. Then again, I went in with no expectations. Its no more worst than any other big budget rubbish that we've subjected to in one long Summer or another. I thought the gore was over the top and foolish. He couldn've toned it down (ala LOTR) and still been a decent movie. Kristanna Loken did fit the part and she was actually quite good. All the other performances are easily forgettable. Maybe Uwe is getting better. Who knows. Now I can't wait to see how Dungeon Siege turns out. 6/10

I have released RC2 of this patch via the game registration page. This is for the Starforce version ONLY. If you're not sure which version of the game you have, read this thread. Be sure to READ the VCF before you download and use it. Since this is not an official patch, you should backup the files which will be replaced by this patch archive before using it. Failure to do this would mean that you'd have to re-install the game if you have problems with this patch. To apply, simply extract the files into your game folder, overwriting existing files. Note that there is a saved game which uses profile 0. So if you have a game in progress which uses that profile, it will be overwritten unless you first back it up. Please post all comments about the new audio system in this thread. Bear in mind that the battle sequence saved game is a stress test and you are unlikely to find yourself in such a battle under normal circumstances. Then again. If you have 4.1 or 5.1 speakers (or even 6.1 or 7.1), prepare to get your teeth blown out. Crank up the volume.

Oh man, poor Uwe gets no respect. So Bloodrayne is the 42nd worst movie ever made.
