  1. From another thread... quote: Originally posted by Shingen: Great stuff, but what server is everyone playing on? I logged on multiple times last night (server3) and played for about a hour by myself, and no one showed. Usually server 3 or 4, since they have AG turned on. The best way to find out who is one (since the in game browser doesn't tell you), is to use the stand-alone ASE browser. For example, I just took this shot of you and others on server3 and this of the folks on server4. The ASE sdk does not provide the ability to see the players on the server, so there is no way to implement it in the in game browser (which uses the ASE sdk).

  3. ....well, this is just yet another reason why I slaved on mp in order to make it as close as possible to the single player game. Other games would just make it a kill or be killed type of affair. Not I. Me? Life's too simple to take the easy way out.
  4. Since this is mp related, I'll just link to it for those of you who, like me, may have missed it.
  5. quote: Originally posted by Takvah: Doh... you might want to relocate my post to that thread. The thread I am referring to is here. Sorry. Actually, its fine where it is. I will just create a post in the fun thread and link back to it. quote: As for the updates that have been made to the game, you know you thoroughly made me eat my hat with what you have done since the release. The fact is though that I don't think you ever really stop "tweaking" any of your current games. BCM/G has taken a back seat to UC but only after you had invested much time tweaking it as well. Then when UC came out, you made that the priority. You might cut back on the updates for UC but somehow I have a feeling we'll still be seeing them as the need arises. It's not wishful thinking on my part, it's your nature. Anyway to get back on topic... HEAVY CRUISERS RULE! *snickers* Nuff said. Indeed
  6. Yeah, they've got to be shitting me. Literally.
  7. quote: Originally posted by Gudihl: Heh, no. He was one of the first the SC entered. The SC himself has member #308, because IIRC members of the old forum (there was one before this one), have been added in alphabetic order... Some of us are in this community since 1996. Cheers Yep. And he was also in the Beta before. He dropped out (for some odd reason) and for the life of me, I still can't figure out how what happened; especially given how long he's been haunting these parts.
  8. quote: Originally posted by Takvah: Also, I might add (sorry if this throws the topic off for a moment)... the work you have done in the patches... superb. I had one hell of a multiplayer game last night. I recounted the events in a Fun Stuff thread... the things you can do with this game! *snickers* ...its only going to get better once I'm done cleaning up the remaining mp quirks. Work on UC has slowed down in the past two weeks to about 25% peak, due to my work on other projects. For a $19.99 game, nobody can possibly expect much more from me at this point. Especially given the manner and condition in which the game was released back in February. quote: I recounted the events in a Fun Stuff thread...Where? I can't seem to locate the thread here.
  9. Please correct the spelling in this thread subject or it will be deleted.
  10. I designed the cruisers to be the equivalent of modern day naval cruisers and destroyers.

Its bad enough that people like you - who should know English - end up writing rubbish like un-intellectual. I mean, seriously.
  12. I have revised the "TOWING AND DELIVERING SHIPS" section (p34) of the tutorial to take into account the possibility that TB daisy chaining will not work under certain circumstances. quote: TOWING AND DELIVERING SHIPS If you know where the stations and bases in the game are located (which you probably don’t, since you probably have not yet looked at the “Launch Bases” section of the game appendix), you should know that the nearest friendly or neutral station where you can deliver the Zaroth, is the Orion station located in the Centris region. Yeah, take a quick peek at the printed game map. That region just so happens to be one jump away from your current location. How convenient. Now that you know how to do this – no, I’m not going to repeat it – target the Centris jump gate and initiate the jump to that region. If the CC fails to jump, it is because of the mass propagated along the TB daisy chain. There are two ways around this. You can either (a) disengage the TB on the shuttle, then issue it orders to escort the CC (so that it follows you when you jump) or ( give the shuttle orders to tow “nothing (disable)”, which will cause it to drop the TB. Then manually tow the Zaroth using the CC. Give the shuttle orders to “rtb” and when it docks with the CC, jump to the Centris region. After you have jumped into Centris, locate the “Orion” station on radar, then wait for your jump engines to re-charge before jumping to it. When you emerge from the jump, press the 0 key to kill your thrust or you will keep moving ahead and eventually crash into the station!! Now you have two options for delivering the Zaroth to the station, depending on your previous towing method. (1) Drop the TB on the CC to release the shuttle. Then give the shuttle the “Deliver To” order and select the Orion station from the “friendly” targets list. The shuttle will deliver the Zaroth to the station and then stop. You can then give it the “rtb” order. (2) If the CC is towing the Zaroth, target the station, move to within 10 km of it and press ALT+D to request docking clearance. The Zaroth will now be delivered once you respond with Y to the prompt.
  13. Yeah, I've heard that its a mess and that Jowood rushed it out. Now that is surprising, isn't it? For some hilarity. Go here and here. Be sure to watch for posts by Hump.
  14. quote: Originally posted by LostInSpace: I'm asking because you should use at least three to four game slots for your main game saves. I use three. Exactly. There is a reason that each profile has no less than TEN slots. But I guess some people feel that I did that because I felt like it. If the saved game is corrupt, thats the end of that. Anyway, look for the thread which indicates who to packup and send saved games and send it in. I'll have a look later this weekend when I have time, to see if I can rescue it.
  15. Nope, can't do anything about corrupted games. Sorry. Obviously if its that saved game that does not work, then its hosed. Lemme guess, you were using the Quick Save at some point? heh.
  16. quote: Originally posted by Scirocco81: Good to know, thanks SC. Mind if I make a suggestion? Known bugs are no problem to me, but having the tutorial step you right into one isn't the nicest. It works in debug/cheat mode, thats why I didn't realize that it was even a problem. In that mode (which is what I use because its easier to do things), the mass for ships in a TB chain is not calculated. And no, its not really a bug; but rather an anomaly related to the CC's dynamics performance being reduced due to the propagation of the mass of ships in the TB chain. You can probably daisy chain in the same fashion, depending on the type of ships that are in the chain. Also, if you save/resume the game (after starting the chain), it will work. I just need to find out what the numbers are and revise them to ensure that under no circumstance should the CC's performance be zeroe out. Its quite simple: if your CC isn't powerful enough to daisy chain, don't do it. quote: Originally posted by Scirocco81: BTW, otherwise, liking this game...very very interested in how BCO turns out...I see tons of potential here. I just "fell" into your series when I picked up UC on the shelf and thought it sounded interesting. Hours and hours later...here I am on your forums :-) PS - Thanks for the quick response! heh, thats how most people ended up here. Some going as far back as 1997. Its a widespread infection. Before you know it, it would be 2010...and you'll still be here.
  17. There goes another one. *sigh*
  18. Yeah, its probably a bug - but not for the reason you're thinking. The problem is probably in the propagation of the mass along the TB chain. Its not fatal, so its like at the bottom of my list right now, it would be a small miracle if it gets looked at before the end of the year. So, rule of thumb : don't daisy chain the TB
  19. This one was done on May 31st but kinda slipped under the radar.
  20. quote: Originally posted by Commander Jamont: Hey fellow commanders, as noted by our commander marlow. I and vice fleet leader ben zwycky live both in europe. so i need a commander with higher level status to run things iss in america when we are a sleep. what are your ideas about this? Why? What could be so important that it can't wait until you Europeans wake up? But yeah, Shingen is probably right.
  21. What did you miss? Its the second bullet point right there in the image.
  22. I am 100% in agreement with Gudihl's proposal as it is line with what I have already estabilished within my game world. Hopefully, you all will get this crap sorted out and quit giving me a headache over it.
  23. Please read the back of the game box.
  24. You can't and don't need to switch to positions. Just walk to the back of the aircraft and get in before it takes off. When it lands, hop out. Take a look at these shots from 04-23
  25. Have you tried looking in the manual addendum PDF file?
