  3. Nope. You are 100% right. All he had to do was stop and contact me again when things cooled down. But no. That was too easy.
  4. Dunno. I only use Installshield Express which, while cheaper, I seem to pay $150 every year or so for a new update...which usually consists of bug fixes and useless features I don't even need. Bastards.
  5. quote: Originally posted by Mattman: Any idea what the problem might be? If not can you recommend one? How about the x-25? Dunno really. All sticks behave differently. If the review says it works, then you might want to write to the reviewer and ask how he actually got it to work. With some sticks (e.g. my Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold) I find that if you install the tools, calibrate the stick in control panel etc then close the throttle (slam it back) before starting the game, it will work just fine. And if it drifts during the game, you can use the in game calibration (CTRL+ALT+J) to set it by just setting the stick down, slamming the throttle back, then press that calibration key combo once. Try that and lets know how it goes. You're the new Evo guinea pig. EDIT: I just re-read your first post and I think I know what might be causing the confusion!!! Try calibrating the stick from control panel and from within the game as I indicated above. Now. Please read the manual revisions PDF file (the latest version is in the 2.00.11 patch) in Section 6.0 Control Schemes & Joystick Controls sections. I bet your problem is that you have.... Not calibrated your stick in control panel Not calibrated your stick in the game (while starting the game with the throttle back position) as indicated above Not gone into Logistix/Power and set engine power to 10 (from the default 5) Not set your thrust factor (after returning from Logistix) to factor 9. Failure to do any/all of above, will mislead you into thinking that your throttle limits are not in synch with the ship's thrust factor. [ 06-17-2004, 05:08 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  6. Yeah, this is how it starts. And of course, the inevitable opinion ed.
  7. Don't look now, but the #1 copy protection software has bought the #1 game installer. This can't be good, can it? Meanwhile, back at the ranch, 321 has probably been sued out of business. God I love this industry.
  8. oh man, it took a silly n00b to bring our quintessential siren out of hiding!!! Oh, hi Echo!!
  9. Its simple. I know that some of you [secretly] think I'm a hard nosed incomprehensible hard ass. Fine. I can live with that. You don't pay my damn bills. The fact is, the oldies here (some going as far back as 1996!!! back when we had a different forum) had the same opinions. It changes over time. I have worked hard and sacrificed a LOT to give you folks a stable, secure, a$$hole free, forum to make new friends, discuss your passions (games, tech, religion, politics etc) - none of which your money pays for. Its my time. My money. My investment. And like everything I have done for the owners of my game, I provide this forum as an after sales type incentive. I will never - ever - compromise it for ANYTHING. Ever. Someone doesn't like how we do things around here? They can piss off and find somewhere else. Makes NO difference to me. Its not about them. Its about the greater good for the greater majority. ...and I have a 0% tolerance threshold for anti-social misfits. If people just READ the featured topics indicating how we do things around here and then slowly fall in line, there won't be ANY problems. Sure, I make mistakes sometimes or step out of line here and there in my postings, decision making etc; but I'm human and I don't give a toss either way. Many years from now, most of you n00bs will still be here....and smacking n00bs into shape. Thats how the history of this place is. Just ask Kalshion (one of my early lets-pound-the n00b fav n00bs).
  10. Here is what section 15.3 of the manual - which I wrote - says. quote: 15.3 Server Stats BCM Gold servers do not support player stats saving. Once you have logged off a server, your stats and records on that server are deleted. In other words, the server state is not persistent. If the server is re-started or you disconnect from the server, your stats are lost. So, please, tell me, what are you talking about? Or is one of us in this thread confused? It ain't me. In my post above, I was acknowledging his post that BCMG in fact does not save stats. I went on to explain which aspect does get saved - client side.
  11. Not all controllers are supported. If it doesn't work, pick another method of flight control (keyboard or mouse) or buy a stick that works.
  12. quote: Originally posted by Tac: Derek, due to RL issues ive been unable to keep up with Wraith in the last 3 months. And its not getting better of late. I agree Dreada is a good choice to be the Wraith Fleet Leader, he's energetic and is way more active than I am. I may not post here in the coming month or 2, so in case Dreada is appointed the new Wraith leader... grats man! Sorry all for the silence of late. I should be back in a few months Good luck to ye! Thats OK Tac; there was nothing going on with fleets anyway - until now. Besides, you were already relieved of command. So, now that I know your status, I'm going to make Dreada the leader of Wraith at some point soon. See you in a few months old reli...I mean, buddy.
  13. You have improperly patched the game, tinkered with the saved games or playing from an incompatible saved game. That class file warning is indicative of ANY or ALL of the above. Item #297 is the ammo_duc.3d model and the saved game is out of whack due to any/all of the aforementioned reasons. ....and if you're using the quick save feature, well then.
  14. quote: Originally posted by TheHappyFriar: The BCMG manual specificly says that it won't hold your info between sessions. It does. When you quit a server or die and are taken back to the connect menu, you don't have to make your selections again. Just hit the connect button. Neither BCMG nor UC ever said that they would support server side client stats saving. So I have no idea what [manual] you are talking about. *moved out of tech support*
  15. This is from this twit. I have now added his email address to our domain mask ban list. This fool thinks that he can cause me aggravation, then go lying to my publisher in a [foolish and futile] attempt to get me in trouble (ok, that was funny, right?) - THEN - think I'm sorry is going to cut it. Yeah. Right. quote: Date: Thu, 17 Jun 2004 10:40:10 -0700 (PDT) From: Henry Wolf Subject: Fleet Action To: [email protected] Hello, Is there anything i can do to make it up to you so i could play MP, I purchased the game really wanting to play it. If there is anything you need me too do just ask. I am ready to clean my act up, I think i would make a valuable addition to the UC community. I just want to Appologise to anyone i have wronged. I really need to play Fleet Action. All i want is to be able to play MP and download the patch. I realize the stuff you have to put up with, so now i feel like a major *******, I appologize greatly. I say we just forget we ever had problems...... -Hank
  16. This from Chris over at XFire after I alerted him to the issue this morning (after reading the posts above) quote: Arg, I thought we had it right last time. We just patched it again and it should be up next thursday (6/24).
  17. I guess mining drones no longer disappear since the 2.00.11 update then?
  18. Mineral distribution on planets is random.
  19. Well, looks like its done and gone.

Prime has access to any/all planetary bases, why do I have to waste time creating special ones? There are no less than seven starbases and several military/naval bases on Procon alone. Even without running the game, you can go to the PTE3PTEDEFS.INI file and see them listed between lines 27166-27237 If a Prime leader decides that they want to be based at the starbase located in the PROCON01 mzone, then thats it.
