  1. No because that released version of GBS-II does not support the altering of the game models, nor the introduction of new 3D assets. Which is why it clearly states that it is for mission scripting only. Nothing more. Nothing less. /pre-emptive strike follows I already said NO
  2. Just going to post the same thing I posted on GNN on 03-10 Effective today's date, Dreamcatcher and 3000AD have settled their differences, and the litigation is over. Thats that. Back to the business of developing games. And to stiffle any silly questions... quote: Yeah, it got settled last week. A joint press release is forthcoming I think. But in order to stiffle all the queries I was already getting (after I announced my two titles the day before), I decided to post that short GNN blurb in the meantime. No, I can't talk about it because like most issues such as this, the settlement terms are highly confidential (a DC requirement). Outside of our attorneys, the company primaries and the judge, nobody knows - or will know - the details.

  4. I never read this Stephen King novella, but wanted to see the movie nonetheless. Boy, does this one throw a curve ball. If you ever - ever - thought SK was weird, go see this movie. Johnny Depp as always is just great. Its a bit gory in two scenes, but I saw that coming and closed my eyes. 10/10
  5. quote: Originally posted by Kalshion: Correct me if I'm wrong SC, but by restarting the campaign because of the script, we would be unable to use our RC 7 save games right? I have no idea what you're talking about. The campaign script needs to be restarted if you want to play it. I don't see how that has ANY effect on your previous saved games - as long as you don't try to play a saved game of the previous version of the campaign script.
  6. I have uploaded a revised version of this script if you folks want to try it out. You will need to restart the campaign scenario. Also, the RC8 patch will include this new version (or a further revised version), so you MUST delete this from the MODS folder when that patch comes out. This version is a bit more challenging. It also includes higher rewards (since its a pretty difficult campaign) and some hints. e.g. any ship you encounter and which is created by the scenario, now has a name (in the VDD). And you destroying any of those yourself, gives you higher rewards (EPs, medals etc). The ultimate goal is to ensure that all four diplomats dock at the station and you will get a BIG reward!!. You do NOT get this reward unless ALL of them make it. I tested it and the repeated EPs issue is gone (I had a misplaced signal directive in a timer and I wasn't checking the flag under certain conditions). Just download the script file and unzip it into your game folder. Both of the files it contains will go into the MODS folder. In case you were wondering - yes, its like a whole new script because I made some other revisions so that you didn't feel like you were just playing the game thing all over again.
  7. They don't attack buildings because it is pointless.
  8. I loved it!!! Val is as surly as ever. He's really quite good in this. A classic David Mamet thriller worth watching. I thought it was a tad short though. 10/10 ps: Going to go see Secret Window later tonite!
  9. quote: Originally posted by Eclipse: I think he missed the AI with the comments he posted but overall seems fair. Yeah I agree. I don't think he had enough time to really observe it at work.
  10. You can find it over here. Don't have time to read it yet. Will do later and post comments. Here is my email to the EIC. No point in duplicating my comments. quote: Hi Brian, Just read the review and wanted to say that this is the kind of review (score aside - they're largely irrevelant) that better conveys the correct message to the gamer. Very few reviewers have the skill to review games like this and I must say, this review writing was pretty impressive. I agree with 95% of what he had to say and I like the way, in between praising the game's high points, he cautions about the low points as well. The review gives the gamer a basic idea of what they're getting into. Good job! Anyway, about this excerpt : "The manual is dense, overly technical, littered with acronyms, and keeps referring to an appendix that isn?t there. (The 200+ page appendix is downloadable in Adobe Acrobat Reader format from 3000 A.D.?s Universal Combat site.)" just wanted to point out that the game appendix is actually installed with the game!! Just go to start/programs/dreamcatcher/universal combat/docs and there is a "Manual Appendix" link to the docsappendix.html file. What he saw on the website downloads page is actually a formatted PDF version for printing at Kinkos etc, since its difficult to print html files with embedded tables and whatnot. That version was done by this Kinko worker and volunteer. So, please see if you could check this out and have that excerpt corrected please. cheers DS [ 03-12-2004, 08:18 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Did I say anything about attempting to take back Knightblade? Can you fly the Von Braun? Do you have crew? Need I go on?
  12. Yeah, but the minority vote never wins. So no, it ain't ever happening.
  13. quote: Originally posted by Mrxknown: OMG OMG OMG!!!!! Keep saying it, because I'm not in a position to reveal any further features to this game, other than what I've already talked about here or in the press release. quote: Originally posted by Andrew Presby: 1. Do you plan to enable the gunship turret weapon positions in UCE2E? 2. Will taking out base power, sensor and comms buildings have an effect on taking the base? For instance, if a crack team of EFM manages to knock out the EWR, does that affect how far away the base will see incoming aircraft and launch fighters? Do you plan to have knocking out the nuclear and solar power systems affect the way the base works? Andy P. They will probably be enabled in UC at some point (depending on my schedule). So yes, they will be enabled in UCE2E as well (even if not enabled in UC) Yes. But there are NO npc controlled entities in UCE2E during multiplayer. Nevertheless, if the EWR sensor array is down, either no air targets will show up on radar (DIE or TRS) or there will be a time dilation delay (meaning that it won't be in real time - so, even though you see it, they could already be nearer to you). Similarly if the comms building sensor array is down, well then, I guess you won't be able to talk to anyone in your team. Or something. I haven't full fleshed it all out yet, but its going to be such that EVERY asset in the base, has its use and if its down, you're all in trouble. If nothing else, this also promotes teamplay because you need player engineers going around and fixing things.
  14. Did you try it on a planet and in space? No? Well, go try it and get back to me. This feature was only designed to work in space and I'm surprised that its still in the game. I had planned to remove it a while back, so I'm not surprised that it does not work on planets.
  15. hehe, I gotta get me one o' these!
  16. Well, if you did the BCMG/UC type of games for over a decade, you'd be tired of it too. Besides, the industry has changed a lot since the old days. And unless devs (especially indies) change with it, there is no business. Which is why a LOT of them go out of business. I'm not doing UCE2E to appease anyone. You're assuming that I give a sh*t about what a few puny inconsequential detractors think. You really, truly, SHOULD know me better. I am doing it primarily because I want to do something lite and in the short term and using the untapped potential in UC tech. Apart from that, the next PC title from us is not due out until late 2006 or early 2007. Surely you don't expect me to sit on my hands and knees until KnightBlade ships. Not to mention the fact that UC underlying tech contains a LOT of unrealized potential, which I'm using in UCE2E. Sure, I could have done another BCMG/UC type product as UCE2E with the new graphics engine, but why on Earth would I want to do that? How many people do think would want to fork out money for another UC game, with merely a graphics facelift, less than a year later? UCE2E is a completely different kind of game, and since I'm NOT planning to do a UC Gold edition (like I did with BCM) since DC have rights to UC for the next four years, once again, BCMG and UC are the very last games of their kind. The next yet-to-be-named BC title will have all the legendary BC features, but its going back to its roots and focusing on a more indepth and personal feel with the focus on a single carrier, single race/caste choice etc. This way, it can be more fully fleshed out and realized. Finally, UCE2E is NOT being developed in order to compete with anything - most especially not SWB. So many times I hear this nonsense about one title competing against another, then the another comes out and its rubbish, tanks at retail etc. When I design and subsequently develop a game, I go in with the premise that everything people think its supposed to be competing with, is pure and utter rubbish. For example, SWB is a BF1942 ripoff set in the Star Wars galaxy. Yeah, innovation strikes again.
  17. Yep, I have both games and they were part of my inspiration for the BC series.
  18. quote: Originally posted by Motafication: I patched it to the main directory, BCMG, and when I executed it said that I needed to have patch 1.0. I found this odd since it specifically states on the 3000AD download page that all the patches are incremental,ie. don't have to download previous patches. You need the 1.01.00 patch only if your retail CDROM is not already at that version. The original US versions were different from the European builds (which are 1.01.00). I have reworded the downloads page in order to avoid further confusion.

  20. Anyone wondering why I have banned this mofo (HRose), should see the email he sent me and the crap he posted over here
  21. Yes, it will be in RC8. Also, if you have a saved version of it, you can just resume (prior to the part where you reach the final destination) in RC8. No. EPs are only deducted/awarded based on events (e.g. the diplomats being destroyed, arriving safely, you destroying certain hostiles etc). Bear in mind that apart from the EPs added/deducted by the script, EPs will also be added/deducted based on events occuring in the underlying game world e.g. if you destroyed AG hostiles, you will get EPs Tip: If you encounter hostiles which have names in the CVD (i.e. not just the ship type/class), then you know it is an entity that is part of the scenario and you should pay close attention to it. You get EPs if you destroy it, you don't if someone else does. Actually, so you don't have to wait for RC8, I will upload the script later tonite so that you can go ahead with it.
  22. LMAO!!!
  23. You can find it over here
  24. This reminds me of that Rodney Dangerfield joke.. ...yeah, I quit the biz. To tell you how well I was doing when I quit - I was the only one who knew I quit.
