  1. Huffman never owned any BC game. Period. I don't post on the Usenet any longer, so he comes here to see how best he can aggravate me. Between him, Shirley and his other friends, they totally ruined the newsgroup with their rubbish. Just go to google.com, select groups, then search on bill+huffman and you'll see what I mean.
  2. SNG as commander career Launch, then quit to OS Open up console and use Playmod as follows code: playmod damage deck1 0 100 playmod damage deck1 1 100 Resume game The above totally destroys the bridge and the bridgeviewer. 0 is the bridge and 1 is the bridgeviewer. You can destroy one or the other or both.
  3. quote: Originally posted by Kalshion: I never seen a company take so long to make a game!... however they have good reason =) they know how to make there games goooooooood Thats odd, because BC3K v2.0x took about eleven months to do. BCM took 22 months. And by the time BCG comes out in Q2 2003, it would have taken about 18 months to do. These are all standard development times. BC3K, the first title in the series, took the longest to do because I was, well, a n00b with grand ideas that computers at the time, couldn't make happen.
  4. quote: Originally posted by LBM: BCM gold will be out soon, although existing BCM owners get a discount (I think). Some corrections: BCM Gold is not coming out soon. It seemed like a good idea at the time (a publisher was talking me into doing it in order to appease the retailers who were pissed over the EB exclusive on BCM). It was only supposed to be BCM + all patches + a few things + multiplayer built-in. Fact is, a lot of things are going on behind the scenes and that makes BCM Gold a waste of time and money to put it back into retail - especially with BCG speeding along. BCM Gold was to be priced at $19.99 and there never was a discount planned for BCM owners. Why would I want to do that? Considering the price? If anything, BCM Gold will probably just end up being a CD only upgrade for existing BCM owners who want it and which can be purchased either from EB or from us (via BMT Micro). Until it stops selling, we will continue to master and ship the original BCM units. There should be an announcement sometime next week about all this.
  5. Each region is about 2.50 million km edge to edge. If the probe is traveling at 15K m/s, which is about 900 k/m, do the math. If you want to launch a probe, look at your map, then move as close as possible to the jump anomaly that its going to use to leave the region. Then launch it. I caught that 150K m/s value quite by accident; and I reduced it. I might increase the current (and correct) 15K m/s value after running some tests. But the fact is, 150K m/s is just too fast. 6. Here is the report that was sent quote: A user (Bill Huffman at IP 24.30.132.220) has requested that you review the following post by Supreme Cmdr in a forum you moderate: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote:Originally posted by HiPingScoba: ie fighters or shuttles given orders to return to base, or jump at a specific gate, will get about 38 units away and then abort.Rubbish -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The user's reason for this request is: The Supreme Commander is being rude. 7. It has been known for a while that people (banned or otherwise) who have no business on this site, come here, grab posts and use them on the Net willy nilly. The only to stop this is to prevent access to the forum unless registered. I did this at one time because removed it because its a pain to people who just want to view posts for tech support. That jackass, Huffman and his friends still come here. In fact, this morning I got email from CAT that he had used the report post link (what an idiot) to report my response to HiPingScoba in this thread. What the fool fails to realize (what a tool) is that reporting a post sends your IP address. So, having got his IP address, we traced it. He, so far, has a static IP address. Then I went to the UBB forum to see if there was a feature to disable the ability for unregistered people to use this feature and abuse it. Sure enough, according to this thread, it is coming. In the meantime, taking a hint from a poster in that thread, I created an .htaccess file and jammed his IP address (and every IP address for him that I could find on Google and on his website) into this file. I have now tested it. In the future, anyone who gets banned here, will be in that file - which then prevents access to EVERY section of the site. 8. I am experimenting with various Java chat clients for the site. Even though some people use an IRC client, it is still nice to have one on the site for those spur of the moment discussions. So far, I have tested JPilot (see the link at the top of the main forum page too) and will be testing RealChat later.

  10. You don't need the bridge to orient the ship. Go to an external camera view and by looking at the ship lighting, you can figure out how to turn it. Remember, you can still control the ship from any ext camera view using the numeric keypad.

Power wouldn't have been a big deal because worse case scenario, he could've shutdown power to everything but the reactor, allocate power to launch control, launch the shuttle and then give power back to critical systems. And if there was no Radine, then he could've just re-oriented the ship's solar arrays and used the converted solar energy to power launch control. Lots of possibilities.

You seem to take issue with the very existence of any system of government. Perhaps you would be better suited somewhere else. I am somewhat disappointed and angered by not only the tone of this post but also the thought process behind it. and although it seems Jaguar didn't take offense to it, I'm afraid I have to. You're right. I didn't notice that one before. And thats probably because, as I said, I don't get involved - nor do I read - these types of debates. I know when I'm outgunned. Post deleted. Heck, I'm American, grew up in the UK mostly (one parent is American, the other British) and I couldn't interprete the constitution if my life depended on it. I could'a sworn that Moses ripped Thou Shalt Not Kill from the US constitution. Go figure. Heck, I can barely mumble the oath of allegiance without mixing it up with something from GALCOM. Better yet, I don't even know if the constitutional right to bear arms means I can go out, buy a gun and run around downtown with it. Of course not. I'd like to explain that one to the cops. Jaguar didn't call him names. He didn't call him stupid. He didn't call him a one-eyed illiterate space hoping Canadian masquerading as an Insurgent etc etc NOTE: I usually don't get involved in these debates because I don't know enough about the subject, have no interest them etc etc. But Jaguar's post was sent to me using the report post feature of the board. His post stands as it was originally written and I don't find ANYTHING wrong with it. People with thin skins should NOT engage in heated topics and debates. ps: Friez, if you don't break that up into paragraphs, I swear I'm gonna delete it. Whats with you? 18. quote: Originally posted by Gordon: SC, I had the same problem regarding the crew pull down menus using the 40.72 drivers. I switched back to the 40.41 drivers and at least for me the issue is gone. oh? Lemme go try those 40.41 drivers then - because I don't think I did before. nVidia is pulling the same stunt that ATI is - sacrificing stability for speed - hence these Det 40.xx drivers. EDIT: Confirmed. The 40.41 drivers don't exhibit this problem. Thanks Gordon! [ 11-06-2002, 09:53 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

I get regular updates from Macrovision and every other patch (including 1.0.07) has used a new update. Since the RC23 patch, I've been using the latest version. And so far, you are the only person having a problem. So, since you have a new CDROM, you might want to (a) check with your vendor to make sure it has the latest firmware ( read the BCM FAQ which includes a link to a fix for SafeDisc available from Microsoft. quote: Wait a second.. when I reinstalled the game I wasn't able to get any patchs BELOW 1.0.0.07 and I reinstalled the game BEFORE 1.0.0.08 was release'd.... could this be causing my problems? If you don't read the FAQ - specifically the section about patches - you only have yourself to blame. Even this announcement thread contains several posts (including the FIRST post) about how to patch up to the latest version of the game. So, what exactly did you miss? quote: Somehow I think it is, I order'd the patchs off of Gamespot *im a member* so there coming via CD[/QB]I don't think you have a clue what you're doing - even though it has been stated over and over and over. You only need ONE SINGLE PATCH to go from the clean CD install to 1.0.08 RC23. To go from RC23 to RC24, is a smaller patch. [ 11-06-2002, 08:41 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

  22. quote: Originally posted by Cmdr Nova: Yeah. Like when assigning people to certain things, the text for it disappears and stuff. 40.72 drivers, same problem. OK, its a driver problem then, because it works fine with the 30.82 WHQL drivers. Seems that this problem crept up in the 40.xx driver set; because every one I've tried, has this problem. So I uninstalled clean and went back to 30.82 set. I have made them aware of the problem - as well as the main menu flickering with AA on.
  23. Is anyone experiencing an issue where certain parts of the Frontend screen are clipped out (Black), destroying the text? e.g. after starting new game, go to Logistix/Crafts/CC and the buttons disappear. Or, when accessing the pulldown menus (e.g. pilots, officers) after starting a new game, the display text also disappears? This seems to be happening on all post- 30.82 under winXP
  24. quote: Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: I just came across a minor graphics glitch which affects some of the Frontend screens (e.g. stats, Logistix) as as result of another screen glitch fix in RC23. Its not major, but some parts of the screen will be erased incorrectly. Simply select another button to redraw the screen. Sorry, I didn't notice this before I released RC24 and the testers didn't catch it either. Its not graphics card related (I know whats caused it). This is an nVidia driver issue which only seems to happen on the 40.72 drivers. quote: Originally posted by Kalshion: When I install the patch and attemp to run the game it gives me BCM logo, then stops... doesn't load up the intro, nothing, it just stops loading, I attemp to start the game again, and nothing. If you don't fix it in the RC24 patch, you'll never be able to run any patches past 1.0.07. quote: Originally posted by LBM: Also, coz your're running an NT system, try making a batch file with the line, "echo off start /high bcm.exe" Use this to start the game.
