  1. It's bad if the game costs more $$$ because of a enciclopedia of a manual. I would not mind paying for a more detailed manual or an "Inside BCM" manual if sold seperately though. [ 12-15-2001: Message edited by: DeBoNed ]
  2. Supreme Cmdr is right, the planet texture is not fixable, short of writing a third party directx8.1 compatible driver for the voodoo cards, if that is possible. Most of the other glitches were fixed though, good job. I still see that odd band of "smarties" in space. [ 12-15-2001: Message edited by: DeBoNed ]
  3. I probably had a drone loaded in the shuttle. I tried retrieving a drone on another planet with a shuttle that did not return to the cruiser and it worked. I also deployed the drone in one of the mission areas on a planet and made note of what mission area it was. When checked later in the mission area, as I zoomed in I could see the icon of the drone moving around in the mission area. So I set a watpoint on the surface of the planet, near the drone for theshuttle to "land", and a second waypoint for the shuttle to retrieve the drone, and it worked; the shuttle did retrieve the drone.
  4. You can target the drone, but I could not find out the bearings or the region on the map the drone is located. I got the shuttle to fly to the location of the drone by assigning a waypoint command to retrieve the drone, but I did not tie in the waypoint to any location on the map. The route consisted on only one waypoint, and the shuttle did fly to the drone's location, but did not pick up the drone, probably because, as TAC suggested, my shuttle already had a drone. It would be more interesting if you could see the location of your planet side vehicles on the topographic map. Another suggestion is to be able to assign commands to a drone, or, if the drone is fully automated, when a shuttle is ordered to pick up the drone, the drone would automatically drive itself to the drop off point or stop in place, awaiting the shuttle pickup. When the shuttle was on it's way to pickup the drone, as it entered the atmosphere, it descended at a snail's pace. It was descending at around 5 mph at 5000 unit height, (can't remember the units of height in the game). Could this be due to the fact that there was a drone in the shuttle and there was a bit of a command conflict? Low pilot AI? Would having two crewmembers in the shuttle make the shuttle fly ÔÇ£betterÔÇØ?
  5. Actually, the shuttle did return to the ship before I sent the same one out. Does a shuttle automatically get loaded with a drone if the shuttle returns to the ship without one? And I did not pay attention to the AI percentage. Thanks for the tip. If there are any, do vehicles show up on the planet topographic map when you are observing a planet? How do you locate a drone you deployed?
  6. I have tried retrieving drones from the surface of a planet by assigning an undesignated waypoint and ordered the shuttle to retrieve drone at that waypoint. The shuttle either lands while the drone keeps mining and does not retrieve it, or the shuttle keeps flying around at 5mph, trying to catch up to the drone, which does not stop moving. Is there a way to order the drone to stop? The other problem is that I cannot find the location of drone when observing a planet surface. The drone or the shuttle does not show up when they are on the surface. The closest I got to successfully retrieving a drone was with the above method. The book does not explain how to do this task, or did I miss something. I read every page of the manual and could not find out how. Please help.
  7. I cannot find out how to deploy a drone from my shuttle. I load a drone and a marine in the shuttle, I tell the shuttle to fly to the planet, but for the life of me I cannot find out how to deploy the minning drone! It must be right in front of my eyes, but I cannot see it and I spent over an hour trying and my frustrometer reached it's peak!!! I plead to anyone to give this imbecil some help!!!
  8. I thought it was posted before, but I could not find the thread under "miscelaneous issues II" in "general" thread "under tech support". It is a dificult issue to use the search engine for there is no clear one word description of the phenomena. Edited Nov. 27 Sorry, I just found the thread dealing with the fireworks. It is under under "miscelaneous issues II" in "general" thread "under tech support". [ 11-27-2001: Message edited by: DeBoNed ]
  9. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: ...and what do stations have to do with this? They are in a fixed geo orbit. If the station is on the other side of the planet you targeted to hyper jump to, and you emerge from hyperspace to close to the planet, your proximity to the planet may trigger the ship to enter orbit. It happened to me a few times.
  10. Sometimes you don't know a planet is in your way when you enter a system and jump to a spacestation. You have to check Tacops, (alt-s)? If the station is behind the planet, you go through the planet if still in hyperspace when you get there. Only a few times have the game forced me to enter orbit. I believe it depends on how far from the station is from the planet. I'm assuming stations orbit at different hights from the planet, and not at a default height.
  11. I don't know if this is related to my v-card. When in space, looking from my bridgeviewer, I keep seeing explosions, like someone is shooting flack or fireworks. It happens every two to three seconds. Does anyone know if this is some part of the game I am missing or is it a video glitch?
  12. I heard that too, when 3dfx went under. I'll believe it when I see it. Get a cheap GeForce2 MX400 for now, that is, untill the GeForce3 come down from their prohibitive prices. It has 64 mb ram and is relatively equal to a voodoo 5 5500. It uses an older chipset, that's why it is so cheap. And at least there are drivers being made for the GeForce2. 13. Try using WickedGl. It may help. I don't have BCM, but I have WickedGl and it improved the performance of many games; improved the framerate and texture quality. I have a voodoo 5 5500. Pick up the shareware version here: http://www.wicked3d.com/technology/wickedGL.htm WickedGL is an enhanced miniGL support for boards based on 3dfx Voodoo2/3/4/5, and Voodoo Banshee chipsets. Please post if this solves the problem with voodoo 5 cards and BCM.
