A bit of n00b help please ^_^
CommanderJohnson replied to Justsomeguy's topic in Battlecruiser Series
Look in the appendix at launch bases and check the inflation rates. Go to a base with a high inflation rate, sell everything on your ship, go to a base with a low inflation rate, buy a lot of stuff, go back to a base with high inflation, sell it...repeat. I was going to do that until I learned that killing stuff and salvaging the cargo was a lot easier to do to make money. The drones are all the same type, and there's no forseeable reason you'd ever want to remove them from the shuttles unless you deploy and extract them as explained in the manual. BCM rocks...have fun. -

Doesn't AF officer corp have the hardest training out of any service due to the survival training needed. Of course, you gotta be an officer to fly to begin with, so......

I'll respond to anything that I disagree with later, just wanted to refer to a site. Iraq is going to get Nukes If you read the other stories on MSNBC, you'll realize they have or will get other WMDs. Sure, some people say "just contain em" if they have WMDs, but that's what this whole discussion has been about. Taking em out BEFORE they become a threat. G.W. has it right!!!

And watch it get a cult following in the US.

I couldn't detect anything in TacOps from orbit except the one in the ground, and then when I pushed it up from the ground it was impossible to do anything to it. Can anyone confirm a second probe in Obsidia? I dont want to have to navigate those flux fields AGAIN (although it is a good excuse to take out some Syrion bases).

In terms of risk from most to least: 1. Army or Marines 2. Navy 3. Air Force Join the Air Force.

Is there a second probe?

Misc Tech Support Issues IV
CommanderJohnson replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Battlecruiser Series
This isn't a critical issue, but it's a bug nevertheless. (unless it works as intended, in which case i'll shut up) Various systems on my fighters and shuttles are at 99% or 98% status (1% or 2% damage). I dock at a station, go to logistics, crafts, and the afflicted craft. I click on the system, I click on repair, I assign 1-2 engineers per system, and the color of the system turns teal or whatever color it is for "being repaired". The repair end time shows up as the current time or 1 minute away. No matter what I do then, the system doesn't get repaired and when I go to logistics it still shows up at 99% and the color code is now the pink/beige "suspended" color. Even if I launch to space and order my engineers to repair it there, the same issue occurs. -

Anyone Iraq would invade would hurt us cause of the oil. I know it's bad, but we need the stupid oil that the Middle East provides. If we would only use OTHER fuel sources, we'd be able to leave them TOTALLY alone, let em all kill each other off, and say that if they ever bother us we'll just nuke em. quote: We like to think we police the world because we are the only one's with the manpower. Actually we are just the only one's arrogant enough to think we have a right. I like to think we do it to make America big and strong...which is a good thing. Also, no one else does have the manpower. Also, we do have a right...might makes right, and we do have the most powerful military on the face of the Earth. quote: Iraq is a sovereign nation, recognized by the international community. If Iraq commits an act of war, it's party time. By act of war I don't mean not succumbing to some treaty that wasn't our right to impose anyway, I'm talking about Sadaam blowing up a bunch of Americans.Well, the treaty sort of was our right to impose, since we DID win the war. I guess we were naive to believe that Saddam would follow through if he stayed in power, as opposed to managing to disagree with us so much that we invade him AGAIN. quote: If GWB wants to even the score for daddy, call it what it is. Iraq hasn't threatened us LITERALLY. Sadaam has made comments about retaliation, but he will let the USA make the first move. And no matter what happens, we lose. I fail to see how we are going to lose. Saddam is going to be sliced and diced and then dragged through the streets of Baghdad. The people of the country will be freed from a regime of fear, and we'll have a new ally (since we'll be the ones setting up the new government and helping them rebuild after we bomb em to hell). quote: Either Sadaam or the International community is able to halt our attack, quote: or the scope and size of America's Empire continues to grow. quote: George Washington knew well enough to let alone, why can't George W.? I've read part of his farewell speech and papers, he only left alone because he knew that if we didn't leave alone, we'd get destroyed by the bigger powers at the time. Now we're the bigger power, and we're already deep into international relations. There are a lot of areas where I agree we should be isolationist, but in some instances, doing nothing will come back and hurt us.

BCM War Stories & Experiences
CommanderJohnson replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Discussions
2 hours into a new game... Gammulan Stormcarrier "Lawgiver" blasted it's way deep into Syrion territory to Obsidia via flux fields starting with the one near Recara. Commander Dredd, after taking on many Syrion Military ships (including a Stormcarrier? ...didn't think they had those), got into a shuttle to investigate a "Gal/Exp Unknown Contact" (since tests with other crafts showed they recieved damage) on the planet, looking like a probe. Upon entering the atmosphere of Obsidia, the probe transmitted a message along the lines of "...beware stargazer...we are coming". Not enjoying being threatened Commander Dredd landed next to the probe, entered the OC, drove it out of the shuttle, and blew the probe into many little pieces. Dredd returned to the shuttle, entered orbit, and flew through the wormhole marked "Supernova". In Supernova, a flux field was detected along with a planet named "Stargazer". Stargazer had a "Gal/Exp" region on it, but no objects showing up on scanners. Dredd flew down to the planet (totally white planet, very weird) and set his shuttle down in the region and entered his OC again, but upon driving it out of the shuttle, he had absolutely no control over it. It just drifted forward at a speed of 6. Dredd immediately ordered the shuttle to retrieve the OC in fear of drifting across the barren planet forever. Knowing that there was nothing else to discover, Dredd returned to his CC and launched two probes, one for each region, and realized that he had run out of plutonium for his shields. At the same time, Syrion Battlecruisers started showing up near the flux fields needed to get back to Recara (the nearest neutral base). Dredd launched his 8 fighters to defend the CC which managed to destroy a total of 3 cruisers, 2 heavy carrier, and 8 fighters total on the trip back to Recara. Dredd promptly killed all of the Syrion Scientists on Recara, and all surrounding tourists and other ships, and captured the base for the might of the Gamulan Empire, to use as a staging base for taking over the Syrion Quadrant and eventually all of the galaxy. ...it was fun if you were there. (and you werent Syrion) [ 07-30-2002, 08:20 PM: Message edited by: Dredd ] -

quote:Originally posted by R_wilco: It ain't workin' EDIT: Whoops, it is now, hehe. Nice. Did you try tractoring that probe, or is that impossible? SPOILER?: Shuttles seem to be able to land in Obsidia without damage, but all other craft steadily lose armor and hull integrity w/o hurting shields until they explode. I managed to fly a shuttle under the probe, switch to VTOL, and PUSH the probe up to about 30000 feet, but as much as I tried with the shuttle and CC (Stormcarrier), i couldn't get a tractor lock on it. I ended up getting tired of it and shooting it with my CC (probe went BOOM!). -
quote:oh yea, our interests are so imporant, that ppl are STILL becoming homeless and starving. some good its doing us huh. and an economy doesnt run at all when ppl dont buy things cause they dont have jobs or cant afford anything. We already pour enough money into social welfare programs in the United States! At some point, people are poor and in bad situations because they dont TRY to get out of the situation, and then they put the blame on the government. In a capitalistic society, if you work, you can get ahead. If you don't work, no amount of welfare (unless you actually GIVE money to people FOR BEING POOR which just takes away any drive to help themselves) is going to get rid of the homeless in the US. The money is better spent taking out threats to the nation, such as Iraq. If they get WMDs, a lot more people are going to die in the US from Biological, Chemical, and Nuclear weapons than they would from starvation and homelessness (and no, I don't think Iraq will launch the missiles at us, they'll just sell em to terrorist groups). quote: oil smoil, we have tons here in america, y cant we use our own? Because we use a lot more than we can get on our own, and if we only use our own the supply will be so low than oil prices will skyrocket. quote:the Great Depression was only remedied cause AMERICAN citizens had jobs helping the war effort. Last I checked, the latest economic downturn wasn't caused by a lack of jobs. Regardless, in order for AMERICAN CITIZENS to have just helping the WAR EFFORT, there needs to BE A WAR. So, thanks for the argument. The US *SHOULD* go around taking out oppressive governments, because then we'd need a war effort, and thus more jobs to support it. quote:so are international interests really better when the answer lies on our own soil, in our own cities? take a look at the whole picture before you speak. Yeah, because if we don't take care of international problems, they are going to get bigger and bigger and then hurt us or our trade. If our trade gets screwed up, the economy gets seriously screwed up. quote: yes Saddam needs to be stopped, as do a lot of wannabe Hitlers, but how do we know the whole country wants to be Americanized, or become a democracy? We don't know, and it's impossible to know until we do it. The people who have escaped say the country wants to become a democracy. The ones still living there say it wants to stay the way it is...mainly because if they say anything else they'll be shot. Dead people can't speak their mind. quote: they might like their govt, culture, traditions and whatnots. but yet we change all that cause of thier leader, who had the balls to do what others couldnt or wouldnt do Yes, we do. Leaders can't stay in power without either the support, complacency, or ignorance of its people. Besides, the people in these countries are OPPRESSED. They are force fed propoganda, and are shot if they disagree with the government. Anything is better than that. Ok, having balls is not always a good thing. Sure, I might go up to some idiot 50x my size and say "your an idiot", but i'm also going to get pounded into a pulp. That's what should happen to Saddam, and it's going to happen. The US doesn't put up with that ****!!!!

To have fun: Go to Obsidia. Plenty of enemies jump in, AND if you land near the probe in anything except a shuttle, fun stuff happens! Hey SC, when are "they" coming? Are "they" going to have really powerful ships?

quote:first, the past does matter a whole lot, history is doomed to repeat itself cause ppl like u choose to ignore it. and if u leave things unfinished, they are bound to come back and bite u butt. We're correcting our past mistake of leaving Saddam in power after the gulf war. Aren't going to leave it unfinished this time..... quote: second, what i ment by us making threats was we make them first, unprovoked. and apparently not only dp they think they follow through, so our threats are pointless. if someone calls a bluff, i know for a fact someone will test it. and all this about our interests, BAH, what happened to the interests here in our own damn land? ppl starving and homeless, yet we can send billions to countries like Bra-kai (fake name) to help them get food and housing. what good it, freeing them from one dictator just to put them under another, is that really higher quality life? the US is the biggest dictator in the world. we are acting alot like Germany, Russia, and Italy were. the few control the many. kinda wierd how America does its dictatorship under the guise of "Democracy", yet America is a Republic, hmm kinda fishy if u ask me Everyone already IS under the "dictator" of the United States, at least in the sense you seem to be talking about. Our international interests are important to help our economy so that more people don't become starving and homeless. Also, why should the government help our starving and homeless with tax dollars from the other groups? The middle-class and and upper-class would rather have the government use their tax money to HELP American international interests (keep the economy stable and oil prices low and international interests in good standing, etc) than stupid socialistic welfare programs that dont help them at all. Finally, America's "dictatorship", whether you like it or not, is better for individual interests in foreign countries. We at least, when "taking over" other countries give the people rights and freedoms that they don't have under their current regime. Yes, we are all controlled by the government, but it's better if you have CHOICE in regards to the government as opposed to dictators like Saddam. Again, we gotta get rid of Saddam, and if we don't we're going to get hurt because of it.

America is getting stupid AGAIN. and what good will killin Saddam do? there will be someone else to replace him Nah, we'll put in a democratic government and remove Iraq's military infrastructure. They'll be harmless after we're done with em. quote: quote:One U.S. official said: "It's really no longer a question of if. The president believes Sept. 11 has given him a mandate and that the war on terrorism cannot be considered completed as long as Saddam Hussein remains in power."how come its ok for us to go galvanting around the world attacking countries and killing thier leaders when they make attacks or threats against the US (even though we provoked the attacks and threats)? yet when america does the same (i.e. Saddam) they cant fight back with whatever theyve got. i know chemical and biological weapons are excessive and shouldnt be used, but when ur country (i.e. Iraq) is getting over run by a larger aggressor (i.e. USA), do u really care how u kill them? and this whole BS about a war on terrorism is fake. America just wanted an excuse to galavant around the world killing ppl who dont like Americas ideals and actions. does that mean what American does is supreme and the only correct way to live? America is the worlds most hated country, y cause we get our noses into everyone elses business and treat them like they are worthless. Bin Laden was trained by the US to fight Russia, once the Cold War was over, and Russia driven outa Afganistan, we abandoned them and left them to clean up. the taliban was able to takeover cause of us u guys need to open up ur eyes and see through the lies and discipline yourselves to stay alive First, it doesn't matter if we helped to create the problem or not. The past doesn't matter. What matters is the fact that they are NOW a problem, and should be destroyed. I don't care if I sell a gun to a friend, if they become my enemy and try to shoot me, i'm going to shoot them first. Second, so what if we go galavanting around the world and taking over everyone under the guise of a war on terror? Honestly, I believe Saddam is a threat, and so are our other targets. They make threats against the US, we make it so they can NEVER even THINK of carrying out those threats. But let's just say that everyone hates us because we stick our nose in everywhere (we only stick our nose in for our best interests anyway). Now, we have two choices. We either stop sticking our noses in (and let our interests go to hell, along with the rest of the world) OR we just keep sticking our noses in, and kill anyone who doesn't like it. Seeing that we spend so much money on the military, I see no reason why we shouldn't use it to help the quality of life for ourselves and the people that we are freeing from dictatorships. The media is really annoying. I even found it annoying after 9/11. They kept saying the same thing over and over again, and when the anchors got tired, they replayed the plane footage over, and over, and over again. We got the message, why don't you just put up a piece of cardboard over the camera stating the info. Then the whole Jon Benet Ramsey thing that kept getting beaten into the ground, and those bombers....McVeigh and the UniBomber. They kept showing footage of "manhunt continuing" then the next day "manhunt continuing" even though they didn't know anything ADDITIONAL from the first day. Then there are the STUPID news stories, like yesterday I heard something about a cat's life being saved. A CAT!! Why don't they start doing meaningful stories other than a CAT's life being saved. And another thing, they give airtime to morons. If they are going to get statements from people about ANYTHING, be sure they can talk DECENT English. "Wes all down here afraid of all thems and we hope that the police can do theirs jobs" GET SOMEONE WHO CAN SPEAK!!!! -
