  1. Im not having the same "feature", but which one is it, might I ask?
  2. You need to move the .exe you downloaded INTO the BCM root directory, and override the old one. The old one was modified on like the 22nd, and the new one on the 24th. If the downloaded patch file is not in the root directory, the game wont run (at least not for me)
  3. I think the main point is, why do we have the "C" button. You hit it and you get "No Comms response from target". Ok, my comm officer must be an idiot. I KNOW there aren't any comms responses from my target, or i'd HEAR THE TARGET's COMMS! Now, if we have already established that there probably won't be a response when I hit the "C" button, then WHY DOES MY COMM OFFICER keep informing me when there isn't one? Why is the "C" key even binded to anything? Why doesn't the comm officer just SHUT UP. I already know they aren't going to talk, they know they aren't going to talk, my comm officer knows they aren't going to talk, the game code knows they aren't going to talk, so why even waste my time by letting me hit "C" so I can hear the comm officer tell me something I ALREADY KNOW!!!
  4. So, let me get this straight. As the crew AI goes up from being on station, fighting, etc (assuming it does so at a somewhat constant gametime:ai increase ratio), the enemy ships will spawn close to or above that level. So, after about a week of game time, they will be spawning with 80-100 AI which will blow me to bits? Shoulda been a paramedic......
  5. B..b....but that's...that's....not fair? There should be a notable advantage to having high AI levels on your ship by staying alive, as opposed to enemy ships where they will automatically spawn with a high AI, even though you've been killing em.....right? There should....right? (knows the answer to his questions, walks to the bridge of his ship, yells out on ship wide comms "It's hopeless!!!", and shoots himself through the head with his wristlaser)
  6. The firestorm is the best. Even if you dont think so after all the turrets, and after all the fighters, and after all the OCs, then do this. Get one, fly over a hostile base with the PTAs on, land on top of the base. Get out of the carrier, turn around, and look up at the firestorm. Now just imagine if you were on the ground, and it was coming to attack you. The firestorm is the best. (also, note that I didn't say to destroy any of the ground defenses. That's because the PTA system handles it for you most of the time)
  7. Story #2: I wasn't really paying attention where I launched from, I was just in a rush to try out all the cool new stuff in BCM as opposed to Legacy. Tip #2: Pay attention where your launching from.
  8. Thought it'd be nice if people could post hints, tips, advice, stories, and just tell us what it's like to be the less popular careers. (IE, Medics, Marines, Assassins flying small ships, etc) To start off: Story: I was an Assasin in one of my first games. I launched and had about 50 red dots around me. I raised shields. I died. Tip: Dont be an assassin in one of your first games.
  9. I'm hoping this isnt off topic, but do any of you know if the enemy AI goes up progressively as yours does? AKA, when your officers and pilots AI is eventually at 100, are enemy fighters and cap ships AI levels that high also?
  10. All I have to say is this: How many other games are there that would actually allow for war stories like this? With detailed stories, damage, danger, management (i.e, if your reactor is damaged, you may have to cut power to shields to give power to launch control), etc. I think this is the only one. Gotta love BCM!!!!
  11. Which ships can get the special item reactor and shield upgrade? I know the firestorm CANT. Which ones can and cant?
  12. For my first post on these forums, here's a war story. I'm in a Firestorm Super Carrier (YEAH! Only problem is I can't upgrade to the most powerful shields or reactor, which ships allow that and which dont?) I'm ordered to defend diplomats, and especially watch Tulon station on the 2nd ACM mission. Instead of directly escorting the diplomats, I decide to resolve the problem of Tulon station by capturing it. I jump in-system and cloak, hyperspacing directly to Tulon. Before the station knows it, it's lost most systems are releases an SOS, which I immediately use as an excuse to board the station and make it my own. I launch, and less than 2 minutes afterwards, a couple fighters blow up the station. I proceed to remain near the station for awhile, deciding to destroy any ships finding out what happened to their precious station. Occasionally, a Starcruiser or Aestrom jumps in, heading directly for me. I target the expected area the hyperjump will end, lock about 4 missiles on them via FATAL, and destroy them before their engines power back up after the hyperjump. Eventually, a few fighters manage to get good strafing runs on me, and do a little damage, damaging my reactor. I immediately repair it and clear the radiation, and I decide to head back to GALCOM HQ to repair and collect my mining drones, but then 2 Warmonger Heavy Cruisers with fighter escorts jump into the system. Going against my better judgement, I engage the Gammulan Warmongers man to man(my fighters weren't ready for launch). I destroy one with relative ease, but the other one continues to pound me. I finally come around and blow up the other one with manually aimed direct hits with my main guns. Then the damage reports start coming in. "Fighter has been destroyed"x2 "Fighter bay had been destroyed"x2 "Reactor has been damaged" "Bridge has been damaged" "Officers Quarters one has been damaged" "Medibay...." On and on. Deck 3 was radiated with no radiation control unit, but my engines were still in one piece. Somehow I managed to deal with a couple more fighters on my way back to Galcom HQ, but 2 jumps away from SOL my computer wasnt jumping me. I switch off auto-pilot. "Unable to computer jump profile" WHAT?!?!? I'm 2 jumps away from Earth after destroying 2 Warmongers, and it wont jump! I check my cloaking system, no iridium left. My reactor is down to 11 radine, shields had to be turned off to maintain engine power. Red dots appear on my scanner from a long distance away. I immediately remember I have shuttles that are still in one piece. I can tow myself back to Galcom! I order my AE and a number of marines to the shuttles, and then....nothing. I do it again and watch perscan. The marines refuse to move to the shuttle bay....must have been some damage to bulkheads. I watch scanners and the enemy ship are 30 seconds away. I look at perscan again and notice some system engineers in the shuttle bay! I order them into the shuttle and to launch. With 15 seconds left, i'm locked in a tractor beam and on my way at maximum speed back to Galcom HQ. Upon docking, I am promptly levied a violation and experience drop for Dipolmat4 not docking (although it docked about 15 seconds later...must have been a bug). I check logistics and notice that i've lost two fighters that were docked, and most of the ship is a wreck. I note that it's going to take a couple hours (real time) for repairs. I buy a JAC (with money I collected from mineral mining), send my crew off duty or to the medibay (what's left of it), and shoot some pool at Galcom HQ as JAC and the Galcom engineers repair my excuse for a CC.
