  1. Well, I'm still getting the problem but I have tried a few more things. I tried putting it into the shared folders in case that would disable WinXP's problem, it didn't. I then uninstalled, deleted the folder and checked for errors on both drives and then defragmented them, reinstalled BCM, copied the patch over, applied it and then extracted the script update into the BCM folder and it still didn't work. There was one odd thing though, when I defragmented the c drive a number of files could not be moved. While most of these were system32 files which presumably have a good reason for staying where they were, one was Documents and SettingsMike CumberLocal SettingsApplication DataIconCache.db, which, to my admittedly untrained and inexperienced eye, seems significant in the context of the problem I'm getting. Hope you got the text file, sorry it took so long.
  2. Installshield comes up with the all users selection automatically (at least it does for me), as such I tend to leave it on this. However just to make sure I also tried it on the other, Only for me, setting and also, in case it had a problem recognising the default without any actions in that screen, clicking first on Only for me and then back to all users. The same problem occurred both times.
  3. Sorry, yes I am using Windows XP Home. Don't know if it is significant, but before I posted the problem I went through the process again to make sure of it all and I noticed that in the install program, at the section where it asks you for whom you wish to install BCM, the user and Computer Owner name changes when in the different accounts. This may just be BCM recognising the different accounts and responding accordingly, but I thought I that I had better mention it in case it suggests some underlying fault in my Windows setup.
  4. Hi, I've got a problem that prevents me from playing BCM. I can install the game fine, but when I use the shortcut in the start menu, or directly in the BCM folder, a box titled Access Denied is created and superimposed over all other windows. The text of this box reads: Please login with administrator privileges and try again. The problem with this is that I am running Windows XP and my user account is that of a Computer Admin, note that there is another, original, Computer Admin account on the computer in which all other accounts were created. I've been working through this problem with BC tech support and they recently said to post this problem on the forum in the hopes that someone will have already had this problem and solved it. So far I've done the following: 1. Uninstalled and then deleted the BCM folder, and then downloaded and run updatesecdrive and DirectX 8.1. Then installed BCM, copied the patch (1.0.07 Full patch, refreshed version) into the folder and ran it through Explorer, then starting up BCM through the shortcut. 2. Uninstalled and deleted the BCM folder, then logged off and logged in again as the orginal Computer Admin. Then installed BCM, copied the patch (1.0.07 Full patch, refreshed version) into the folder and ran it through Explorer, then starting up BCM through the shortcut. I have been told by BC Tech Support that they suspect: "...that the problem you are having is in logging in as a user. That user may NOT have all the rights as an admin." In addition to BC Tech Support, I have also contacted Microsoft who claimed that Windows XP was not at fault and I have also checked the CD which has a scratch, although I am told by BC Tech Support that if this was a problem then it would not install. If someone has any answers to this problem could you please help me as I've had this fine game for almost a fortnight now, and all I want to do is join the Mandorian navy and start retaking Rinaal. Thanks very much. Nick Comber
