According to information I have about Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the clearing of the swap file must be enabled in the registry--it is not the default. I have tried this, and the amount of time to clear out the swap file is very, very long. I finally disabled it, it was taking nearly 3-5 minutes to 'clear' the swapfile, at that time approximately 512 MB fixed. I now have a GB of RAM, and other than the nescessary WindowsXP demands, my swap file is RARELY used by programs. Were it not for the OS requiring it, I wouldnt have one at all. I have no knowledge if they have changed this with the Service Pack, but the swap file is not purged on shutdown, proper shutdown (not for clearing swapfiles, for saving Windows information, if I am not mistaken) or not. Also, every time the power goes out, my computer powers back up just fine--obviously, in that case, there was not shutdown routine. I have corrupted the boot sector during BOOT UP, rendering the system inoperable until I could get to safe mode and select a restore point--I hit the reset key in the middle of a reboot (long story, concerns the lame monitor I have....). If I am mistaken, please correct me, because I currently have a 2.5 GB swapfile, fixed, and use about 20 MB of it:) Smokin Bob

I have been trying to 'capture' and format the BattleCruiser Millenium Gold appendix docs (I have the complete 3000AD appendix printed out) and format them for printing, but I am not having much luck. I usually end up with the left hand side of the docs page printed out, and thats it. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance, Smokin Bob

Last night I was in a Roam scenario, BattleCruiser Millenium Gold, and my MK3 BattleCruiser had lost the navitron (and other important parts) so I was unable to hyperdrive back to Earth. I was floating in space, confused and mystified, when I saw that a shuttle I had sent to get some cargo was using hyperdrive. Aha!! I can jump in the shuttle, hyperdrive to the station, buy the parts and come back. I felt pretty clever until I approached the BattleCruiser and it (I think) proceeded to rip me to shreds:) I believe my IFF had been damaged, or maybe an enemy ship was lurking near the BattleCruiser, but I didnt see it. Stupid noob:) The explosion graphics were beautiful, however. Back to the manual...... This is an incredible simulator. Smokin Bob

I have experienced the following twice, once docked at GalcomHQ, and once while orbiting earth, Roam scenario, following the BCM Strategy Guide 01 from the web: After accessing COMMLINK then clearing the comm log causes an immediate CTD on my system. Pressing the CLEAR button is fine, it is the answer prompt that crashes it. Smokin Bob

I just got home, unplugged the MOMO, and the mouse is working perfectly now!! I didnt use the command line parameter during startup. Thank you all again for the help, Smokin Bob

After running through the first tutorial in BattleCruiser Millenium Gold (finally!!), I have discovered a problem, and I think it may be my doing, but I am not sure. I have the mouse control enabled, but when I hold the shift key and move the mouse to the right or left, I get rotation, not yaw. When I just move the mouse right/left, again, just rotation. I tried flipflopping the axes in setup, and got the same effect upon returning to the simulator. I am able to use the keyboard commands (L/R Arrow in my config) to yaw the ship and it works fine. I noticed in the post by Sebbish that a command line parameter has been added to include the functionality for a joystick, is there a proper command extension for the mouse? Any ideas what I have setup incorrectly? Thanks in advance, Smokin Bob

I think the mouse control option is perfect--this option has been left out of too many games and simulators that could actually benefit from it. I dont have a lot of desk space (My first passion is racing simulators, that MOMO is big), so the option for mouse control is great. Well done. Smokin Bob

Hello Everyone, I am a long time watcher, first time buyer. I just picked up BattleCruiser Millenium Gold yesterday at Software ETC for a very reasonable price. I was absolutely stunned when I opened the box--whats this? A manual? A real, printed manual by someone who cares about the product they are producing? I could have sworn it was against the law to include a 'Functioning Document Insert' with a software product. I am happy to be wrong!! And the command/map card is darn near perfect. I would have preferred a slightly larger map, but I have not been through the entire CD documention and one may be there, so please be patient with me:) To make a long story short--I love the manual!! Hats off to the Supreme Commander--thank you for the excellent manual, you did a beautiful job on it. It quickly became obvious to me that this is a very very deep and detailed multi genre simulator, and I need at least two more weeks just to read the manual. That is just fine with me, I have been craving a detailed simulator like this for quite some time. The scope 'feels' immense. I love the mouse control!! I am glad you put that option in, Supreme Commander, it is a welcome sight:) I will sign off now, I know the rules around here are pretty strict, and rightly so, I hope I have not broken any rules with this post, but I just had to give a few initial impressions on this Magnum Opus.
