Biggest Difference between Republicans and Democrats
Darkling replied to Darkling's topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
quote:Originally posted by Race Bannon IV: To me Democrats have always been more concerned with the least of us (somtimes to thier own detriment, homeless people dont vote)and Republicans interest hve always been skewed toward the priviliged. I'm Dominican and I admit that most of my friends and family are Democrats, but I'm a staunch Republican. Personally I think that Democrats take an additude with the American people that they know better than us what is good for us, which is why they want higher taxes from us, so they could spend the money "better" than we can. I remember friends of mine getting divorced so they could get better Welfare Benefits, how is that compassionate? I remember my brother having to sell one of his service trucks to pay his taxes on his Pool business, even though he employs 20 people, how is that compassionate. I remember during the Carter years how Opec "Announced" a cut in crude production (which never happened) that caused oil shortages only becuause Carter felt the government would do a "Better Job" of allocating Oil. As soon as Reagan came in, he eliminated this government distribution system, which caused a Massive Oil Glut and the subsequent collapse of oil & gas prices. Democrats always think the Government can do it better. Republicans always think the private sector can do it better. Go renew your license and you be the judge. -

I had taken over Pixan, waited for the shields to go back up almost 100% and the Hull was up about 50-60% before I left to capture Synganstar. Once I captured Syanganstar I waited a while then checked the probe that I left near Pixan and saw that the Sheilds & Hull were at 100%, so I went to capture Idan. After I captured the Idan station, I noticed that Pixan had been captured and the shields and hull were still at 100% so I'm assuming that the reason it fell back into enemy hands is becuase it wasn't getting resupplied. Here's my questions: 1. Does sending captured fighters and shuttles count towards resupplying the stations? 2. Can you force a resupply by towing frieghters and delivering them to the stations? 3. Is the station able to "Use" the captured ships that you send to it? 4. Does buying materials from the station reduce the "supply" level of the station as it relates to it sending an SOS. 5. Does selling materials to the station help to increase it's "supply" level as it relates to keeping it on your side?

A letter to John Kerry from Vietnam Vet
Darkling replied to a topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: I want to see his congressional voting record splashed about all over the net and news, This will be hilarious, once everyone sees how he voted for NAFTA, then slammed it, voted for the War, then Slammed it ... I could go on and on with older issues where he's done the same thing. This guy doesn't care about anything or anyone but himself, he votes for something if he feels that it will give him political "Brownie Points" and then goes the other way if he feels it will help him, or if he feels it's what the constituents like to hear. People may not like some of what Bush has to say, especially when it comes to the Homosexual Marriage issue, but at least you know that he's talking from the heart, and not the latest "Focus Group Numbers". -

A letter to John Kerry from Vietnam Vet
Darkling replied to a topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: I don't like Kerry much, but I find it apalling that anyone would question a veterans service (especially another veteran). ... if Kerry was a republican he would be exalted for his service, so any slams against it are pure partisan politics. All of his political life, Kerry has made his Vietnam service a political issue. First by disavowing his service, as a young polotician, then later by trumping up his service when it served him politically. Why do you think he constantly, ad nausium, brings up his "Vietnam Vet" status? Because he feels that it will earn him political brownie points. If any Republican were to disavow his service, then later incessantly mention it, he would be treated the same way. -
Defragment your hard drive

I remember reading this statistic somewhere. "The Average Gay man has had well over 100 sexual partners." Why do you think that AIDS spread throughout the Gay community the fastest?

quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Then you have the latest and greatest new giveaway, prescription drugs. Social Security, forget about it, that ponzi scheme is going to explode in less then 5 years, the baby boomers are starting to hit, and when that happens, WHAM!! Forget about it....Your right, this sounds like what Sir Alex Fraser Tyler Said: quote:Sir Alex Fraser Tytler: A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world?s great civilizations has been 200 years.

quote:Originally posted by DeepFreeze: I am disturbed by the fact that a lot of you seem to consider gays to be lesser, subhuman beings. That's not the point, the point is that before when you committed Adultery, Fornication, or engaged in other "Deviant" Sexual behavior, it was something that people were ashamed of, and rightly so, now it's showboated in front of the whole world to see, but that's not enough, in addition "I" must accept this behavior because otherwise I'm a "Bigot". Heck my cousin was telling me that the other day he got an email of some woman doing it with a dog. A DOG! What's the hell is next? I'm forced to buy Filtering software to keep all the trash away from my kids, because someone else thinks he has the "Right" to send my kids Porn! Where does it end? 20 Years ago, you wouldn't see people proudly standing up and saying "I have a venerial disease!" and have other people applaud. But that's exactly what's going on with people who have AIDS these days, it's like, I got this venerial diseas and I'm proud. Give me break!

quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: At the rate of decay, I give it max 25 years, and probably less........ you and I and our children will be alive when it happens..... Who knows you may be right, things do happen so much faster these days. Personally though I think there will be a short revival of conservatism, followed by more decay and eventual self implosion. Social Security is a ticking Time Bomb, along with the EXTREMELY high dropout rates in our schools. Remember, it's more important for our children to have Condoms than books!

quote:Originally posted by Kartoffel: I never claimed morals were unnecescary. Without ethics & whatnot, it would be complete anarchy. Or a dictatorship. Or something. In any cast, I wouldent want that, and I'm sure you wouldent. And who would set the Moral Standard? You? The Moral standard has already been set, like it or not, this country was BUILT on God's Moral Standard. But people come in and want to create their own standards, that's how we ended up with Slavery, because people thought, heck, I don't need God telling me what to do. Only when people were reminded of the Moral standards that God has put in place for us, was Slavery eventually abolished, but it took the creation of a whole new Party, the Republican Party, to get it done. Because the establishment (the Democrats) were unwilling to take on the unpopular issue. quote:Originally posted by Kartoffel: There is a thing called common sense, for you and your partner(s) to be tested. It's not like you'd want to have sex with someone that you know has AIDS, right?Common sense? People are emotional beings, there is no "Common Sense" in Homosexuality, it's all emotional. Common sense would be to marry the opposite partner to perpetuate the species, that would be common sense. If people DID use common sense we wouldn't have 99% of the problems we have today. This is the reason why we need Moral Standards and Laws to keep people in line, because left to our own devices, people are greedy, immoral, selfish and just plain evil. Look at a child, especially one who has not been disciplined. The child acts like a Tyrant. The child thinks he/she is the center of the universe. Only with Loving and Disciplined Parents does the child grow up to be a contributing member of society. quote:Originally posted by Kartoffel: Times are changing, and things need to change with it. What has changed? The Romans tried this experiment, look at what happened to them. Marriage is timeless, it was created by God. The homosexual community may have won this battle, but it won't last. Eventually when the United States falls in a few hundred years, the true institution of Marriage will still be here. Homosexuality will be back in the closet. We tend to look at things from such thin slices of time that we seem to forget that this all happened before, the debates have been raging for Millenia, nothing ever REALLY changes.

Some other discussions have lead me to start thinking of the political motivations that many groups have and it interest me to see how the Democrats always seem to be leaning towards some popular Liberal project and Rebublicans always seem to be on the side of Prudence, Morality and Conservatism. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: Hard to believe it was just the late sixties when we had to ban laws that sought to make interracial marriages illegal. And why was it that we banned those laws? Because the ACLU headed by Christian Leaders banned together with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King and said that it was wrong and Immoral. Today, (especially with the ACLU being headed up by atheists) if someone were to say that something is wrong and Immoral, they would fly back with "Don't shove your morals down my throat!".

quote:Originally posted by Avimimus: I have seen this before, distributers don't get the product to the right place at the right time, in the right quantity and the product sinks. I guess you haven't been keeping up here with what's been going on. But let's just say that when I went to buy my copy, I had to go to 5 Gamestop's / EB Games before I found my copy (the last one) and every store that I went to, told me that they sold out. This product is definitely NOT sinking.

quote:Originally posted by Darkreaver1980: I cant get the PTA Turrets to Work,It all depends on the ship that you use, some have more guns than others and so your coverage is going to be different. Also, all ships have blind spots, you should try to learn what your ships blind spot is so you can make sure that you maneuver your enemy away from your blind spot to be able to get them. Last point... You need to make sure that you are within range of your target to get them. -

Well the Geforce 2 MX 400 has T&L (an older version) but doesn't have a Vertex Shader. Also, it was designed for Direct X 7. The ATI 9200, was designed for Direct X 9, so it has a next generation T&L Engine and a next generation Vertex Shader (vs the older one that was made for DX8.1). I just upgraded my Compaq from a Geforce 2 to the 9200 and Star Wars Galaxies runs 3X Faster. In all honesty though, I was never able to get that stupid card out of PCI compatability mode. -

Also, by narrowing down your last comment, I tried to make a point that this world isn't run by Scientists, and just because someone isn't a scientist doesn't mean he's an idiot. Just as my wife, who is a Brilliant Pharmacists, doesn't understand beans about my database work. Does it mean she's an idiot? No. Also, I don't need several pages of postings to make my point and besides, people already read it before and they don't need to read it again. Most of the people on these boards are not as stupid as you may think. -
quote:Originally posted by Kartoffel: Bleh... Whatever happened to "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"...? Well, why not take this a bit furthur? Why not allow people to marry more than one partner? While we're at it, let's let people get married to their brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, mothers & fathers? I mean as long as they're consenting adults right. There are many animals that clearly love their owners, why not let the owners marry their animals too? You know what, why even bother getting Married, I mean what's the point, it used to be this old fasioned idea of Raising a famlily, and making a pact with God, but with today's extended families that really doesn't exist any more and God doesn't matter anymore right? Why not we just all do this, we see someone we want to sleep with and we move in together and do it like Jackrabbits. When we get tired, we simply move on. I mean we don't need these silly old fasion values like Morals any more right? Or even better, let's do like the Africans do and get Married or not, and have several mistresses and squeezes on the side. I mean so what if half the population over there is dying of AIDS, we have condoms to protect us right?
