quote:Originally posted by Sebbish: Will the "not being able stop on a dime" part apply to CC's and FC's in space? I remember when I used to play Wing Commander, one of the things that I loved about that game was the ability to hit the Afterburners, shut off the engines, Turn 45 degrees and shoot while strafing the enemy ship, that was REALLY cool. I would hope that this type of model is used for ships in space.

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: I think there are a couple of threads on this already. Do a search for 'capture' and maybe the right one will turn up. Yeah I did this already but didn't really come up with anything very usefull. I was mostly wondering if there's a certain amount of time that passes before a station will send out an S.O.S. or if you have to be like a certain ranking or something like that. Oh well, I'll figure it out.

Any tips on the best way to capture space stations? I've tried capturing the Pixan Raider station several times and I've gotten the hull down to less than 700, but it just won't send out an S.O.S. Am I not waiting long enough? Is my experience too low (2900 on this game)? Do I need to have Fleet C&C first? Also on a side note, is it possible to capture the Land based stations as well?

ATI probably has the best deals right now. I got an ATI 9100 card for less than 80 bucks and it works really well, none of the problems that I had with my Gforce2 and a Heck of a lot faster and CHEAP to boot. Can't ask for a better value

From what I understand, you will have to wait for Battlecruiser Generations to be able to change your ship.

can't retrieve disabled fighters to docking

quote:Originally posted by ob5idian: By the way, I'd like to say how impressed I am with the forum community here. I've rarely ever gotten a helpful forum response elsewhereGlad to be of service. This game requires a little more thinking, creativity and planning than other games and so you will find a more mature gamer here. To give you an example, a friend of mine recently told me about how he was targeted by a Warmonger while in a shuttle, so he decided to go behind it, trap it in a tractor beam and exit the ship and blast it with a rocket launcher! In any other game, you would have simply been out gunned and blown away, no option to use your mind. That's what BCM offers us and that's why we all love this game so much and want to help others out like you get into it. Happy Gaming

I was attacking an enemy station, figured I'd cloak and go in, pound them into submission and dock. Simple enough right? No way!!! I was coming in about 11 O'Clock from the station and banging away at it when all of a sudden it started shooting ALL OVER THE PLACE 2 missiles wizzed by almost hitting me and another one scored a direct hit. All of a sudden, cloak went down, sheilds down EVERYTHING DOWN.... I'm dead in space. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!

quote:Originally posted by ob5idian: And, in response to Darkling, I tried going up a folder from BCM only after an install from within the BCM folder produced the same results as before (failure to initialize). If the patch is failing to initialize, there are only two possibliites. 1. You downloaded a corrupted patch file (if you're using a download accelerator, such as GoZilla, try turning it off) 2. You really didn't put it in the EXE directory, (try going to your BCM shortcut, RIGHT click on it and then click on the "Find Target" button. The folder that it is in will pop up, Make sure the patch file is right there and that is where you are running it from)

quote:Originally posted by mudpuppy: There's little point in hanging around waiting for your drones to finish mining, since they don't seem to attract any enemies that you need to protect them from. (YMMV, however. That's just been my experience so far!) As long as you deploy them near a friendly base, everything is cool

quote:Originally posted by Forever Light: Perhaps star wars galaxies will get close to that when they make the space expansion but im not optimistic. I heard they are having troubles making the current idea gel together. The initial phase will be something similar to Anarchy online and about a year later they will be coming out with ships for you to visit other planets. In the mean time they suggest you save up some serious cash, since the ships will be EXPENSIVE!.. which leads me to beleive that they are purposely trying to save the Space adventure for only the most HARD CORE fans of the game. That could be a good thing, since it will probably keep a lot of the greifers out of space, but then again, you've got to invest some serious time to make it happen.

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Oh man, there is always one more story. Some people have way too much time on their hands. I checked out that website and looked and looked for links to a credible news site that I've actually heard of, but all of them pointed to other websites that I've never heard of like BuzzFlash and Enironment News Service. I don't know about everyone else, but I've never heard of any of these places. If this is such big news, why isn't ABC, CBS or the biggest Bush Wacker of them all MSNBC all over this?

quote:Originally posted by ob5idian: when I install the patches from the C:/3000ad/ folder (above the actual BCM folder), That's where your problem lies. You are supposed to put the patch in the same folder that the .exe file is in. Such as: C:Program Files3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium you're not supposed to put it in the folder ABOVE the BCM folder.

quote:Originally posted by MythicalMino: 2. What is the purpose of landing on a planet? You should commence mining operations as soon as you start the game, you will eventually run out of things like Radine to power your reactor, Plutonium to power your shields and Iridium that powers your cloaking device. The best way to get money to buy these items is to either trade or mine for minerals on the planet

When Docked you are only using the Stations Engineers. This is usefull, if you just got through a fight and all your engineers are dead. Also at most freindly stations, if you need a simple repair kit for something, thier engineers will provide one for you for free. However, if you need to replace a part or upgrade something, the stations engineers will not do this for you, you need to leave the station and have your own engineers take on the project. -
If only I could mix & match EVE with BCM... what a game that would be! [*]Market Driven Economy [*]Ability to land on planets [*]Ability to create items [*]First Person Prospective [*]Ability to customize Character Apearance [*]Ability to command Assets (Fighters, ATV's, Shuttles, Subs) [*]Massive Universe with hundreds of Planets [*]Ability to take over stations and launch crafts from them Man, that would be some game! Of course it would probably require a Quad Athlon64 Machine to run, but what the heck, by the time it's made people will have that Right?
