  1. Do they let you watch rated R movies? ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  2. Kind of like Warbirds, but with more toys and better graphics. Should be very interesting to watch it develop. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"

Pyros, just get a squadron (12) of the Tomcats together and supprise the wife. Just set them on a patrol close to her, but out of range of the flak cannons, set your tom-kittys to fire at will, then turn to her and yell "GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!" ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"

Personally, TA is my all time favorite game. BC is up there too, but TA is at the top. I don't think I've ever fired up a skirmish and not been drawn in to the battle that will soon rage on my computer. Fear not my fellow commanders! The battle will continue to rage on! For all of you who still play TA, you can get all new units here http://www.taucc.com/ 90 plus units here. Just make sure you get the Tomcat. Nothing brings to fear of god to core vermin like the Tomcat. Cavedog may be gone, but they left us with one hell of a game to remember them by. Too bad it was overshadowed by that POS Starcraft. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  5. Commander Phased really enjoys his Microsoft Intellipoint. Good shape, good weight, and there is no way in %$#@ I can live without a mouse wheel. Never gets "guncked up" either because of my mouse pad. I use a plastic star wars mouse pad with a rubber base. The big plus here is it doesn't shed lint or hold dust (two biggest causes of mouse gunk) like its cloth counterparts. Also, if it gets dirty for any reason, just wash and dry and you're ready to go in seconds. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  6. Some good choices there. However I must admit that I've always been very partial to the Bubblegum Crisis series. Gotta love those Boomers. Well, unless you're an ex-cyberpunk player. In which case, gotta hate those boomers.
  7. Ron, it hasn't really changed much. I was in HONOR flight 198 from the 321 TRS. Our head TI was SSgt Cabe. I think the earliest time we ever fell out was 0230 to go do Kitchen Details over at the 324 TRS. On average we woke up about 0445 and fell out about 0500 to sing the Air Force song and have morning chow. Those were the good old days... ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  8. Well, perhaps I wouldn't exactly call it a fun time, but it was an experience. After a 6 1/2 week stay at Lackland AFB, I earned the right to be called an Airman. Even better, I have access to computers and soda once again. I'm down here at Keesler AFB Mississippi having a great time in tech school. Classes are tough, but so far so good. The Tech Control course is by no means easy, but I know I made the right job choice. So far the Air Force has been exactly what I expected. Well, just wanted to let you all know what I've been up to. I'll be stopping by on a regular basis, but not as often as I used to. At 13 cents a minute, it gets expensive using the internet. Just a few more weeks and I'll be allowed to have my computer sent out here and will be able to play BC again. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  9. Interesting thought Parias. Do you care to elaborate a little more though? ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"

  11. The problem you have encountered here as Derek would say is: quote:You have a standard bad install, bad patch, bad configuration issue going on. Go read the FAQ and start from scratch with your install. So there you go, delete the game with the method given in the faq and the install again using the directions in the faq. Follow the directions to the letter and this problem should be cured. Then, go through and read the whole FAQ, don't just skim it. Good luck. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  12. Knowing I have the most current drivers for my video card, I removed all of its drivers completely and then re-installed the standard drivers that came with my card then updated them to the most current. This has fixed the problem with the dos box. So now I have a perfectly working 3DFX version of BC3K. Looks like it's about time to go put the hurt on those annoying Insurgents. Thank you for all your help. I feel I've read that FAQ through so many times I'll someday be able to repeat it back to my children. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  13. Ok sir, I deleted all my patches save for my 1.0 to 2.01 upgrade and downloaded them again. I then deleted BC3K and installed following the direction in the FAQ to the letter. The game seems to be running fine, however I still have the before mentioned problem with the dos box not opening again after I quit BC. Is this a system configuration problem on my part? Or is it possible my 1.0 to 2.01 patch could be corrupted? In which case I'm guessing I'm SOL? ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  14. Ok, here my crash error report. Instead, my system will either a) Present me with a black screen and my monitor will tell me it's recieving no signal, or it will lock. Perhaps this is somehow related to the crash problem? ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!" 15. I quite literally meant I was using the config.sys displayed in the FAQ CONTENTS OF CONFIG.SYS DEVICE=C:WINDOWSHIMEM.SYS /NUMHANDLES=64 /VERBOSE DEVICE=C:WINDOWSEMM386.EXE RAM VERBOSE SHELL=C:WINDOWSCOMMAND.COM /E:4096 /P DOS=HIGH,UMB FILES=50 BUFFERS=40 STACKS=9,256 LASTDRIVE=Z CONTENTS OF AUTOEXEC.BAT SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T2 SET SNDSCAPE=C:WINDOWS As for the crash error report, give me about an hour and I'll have that to you also. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!"
  16. Thank you, limiting the texture mem to 2 megs for glide aps has solved this problem. The game runs great for about an hour now. After about an hour (give or take 15 minutes) the program will exit back to the desktop. Reading through the FAQ (SEVERAL TIMES) I have a feeling the 581k free conventional memory might be the cause of this problem. I am using the config.sys settings suggested by the FAQ. Can anybody suggest a way to free more?
  17. After about five to ten minutes of play, the program will crash out and report the error "GD error (glide): grTexDownloadMipMap:MipMap Cannot span 2 Mbyte boundarygd error (glide) grTexDownloadMipMapLevelPartial:MipMap level cannot span 2 Mbyte boundary". 18. "Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, avenge me if I die!" It ends up working like this, never retreat from combat or else we'll kill you. If you die, none of us are retreating so we'll avenge you in some way. Now that I look at it, I understand why nobody follows me into combat. Oh well, it has a nice ring to it and invokes the fearless warrior in all of us. Well, at least the enemy thinks were fearless, or stupid. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 quote:Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, Avenge me if I die
  19. I can remember standing on my bridge the day we left GALCOM HQ. The memory will never be replaced with something less. The first time I sat in the captains chair it finally hit me, this ship was mine. Nobody else would have the luck of commanding it or it's more than talented crew. As I turned to my Nav and Flight officers with hope in my eyes, I had them plot a course to mars. Little did I know I would soon know what it is to command a vessel that was the pride of GALCOM and also a vessel and crew that has yet to be tested in the rigors of space. The course was set for mars and I gave the call to engage the hyperspace drive. Had I known what was going to happen next, I would have prepared some different words. My flight officer over the comm gave out the call heard to many times in the sims "Prepare to engage hyperdrive" Then it happened, the hyperdrive whirred up and just as quickly as it had started to start moving the ship at it's hyper-speeds, it gave a report louder than any explosion I had ever heard. The whole engine bay was in shambles due to the explosion. Not but ten seconds after this even, systems engineers swarmed over the engine room in a mad atempt to correct and fix the problems at hand. The repairs took six days at GALCOM HQ after we were towed back by the GCV Lonewolf. Our next venture would not be so calm. My GCV Indomitable left port 10 days later, AGAIN. This time with a new Falcon class hyperdrive and several repairs to her engines. The course was set for the mars jumpoint and to my disbelief, we soon entetred the mars region of Sol. This was to be a standard deploy and retrival of the GCV Indomitable marine contingent, the 84th Hellwinds. All four of the shuttles left the batttle cruiser. Each with their compliment of ten marines, a mining drone, and the ATV for the command section of the marines. All was going as planned. The marines deployed witha .2k variance of each other and the shuttles left to do their mining thing. If only the damned insurgants hadn't picked that time to attack Cetie Alpha command base 4 kilometers away. Sitting on the bridge listening to a vintage CD from late earth era by the name of Pink Floyd, I heard the SOS come in. Here it was, my first command action of my six month deployment. Normally one would look back to their training for the proper action for the situations. The only problem was, my training was a short year of book work. No amount of book work could prepare a commander for a situation like this. I can remember thinking that the psyche evaluations of me as a commander with a aggressive passion and a iron will were hopefully right. At least thats what those 40 marines were hoping, and praying. I gave the call, three interceptrs loaded with ATG and ATA missiles were dispatched with orders to make plantfall ASAP. The shuttles and mining drones were recalled right there and then with IC 4 as escort. The Indomitable moved into position in orbit ready to deleiver OTS Missiles if necessary and the marines were informed of the situation. All I could think about were those boys down there and what they must be thinking and doing. They were just fresh out of the academy and right off GALCOM HQ. Who would have thought after their unpredicable R&R they'd be seeing this much action. Hell, I never though I'd be seeing this kind of action. The marines were given oders to go defend the objective of Cetie Alpha and the rest is history. Eight of my marines were lost that day and IC 1 took heavy dmage and required a shuttle tow back to The Indomitable. I spent the next day in my quarters thinking about those eight men who lost their lives to GALCOM. What can prepare somebody for knowing that the loss of human lives is at their hands? Today it is the hardest and worst memory I can recall. I hope I never lose the memory of those eight men. Called to duty so quickly, and to so quickly die for a cause they felt was right. ------------------ Commander Phased GCV Indomitable ICQ 125478 quote:Follow me if I advance, kill me if I retreat, Avenge me if I die
