I don't know. Seems we are getting as bad as usenet. I'm all for a polite discussion but cutting down a person's intelligence seem to me to be going a bit too far. Not that I am totally innocent but if we are so vehement in our views that we can't argue dispassionately we need to quit. There. I said it.

It's borderline. Every couple of years a company does this and the local news latches on. The story is usually that the company is promoting the numbers as an added measure of safety for you if emergency personnel need to find your house. The local news then interviews various emergency personnel and they say it really doesn't help all that much. This I know. I have delivered before and as long as you know the city's layout, can figure the odd or even side of the street, and can catch a few houses so you know how the numbers run you can find anything. Then they report it's not illegal so just be careful. So yeah it's a borderline scam. The flag thing is a new twist. Borderline bad taste but not terrible. Something's better than nothing eh?
