  1. Here is the MK1. resized to 48 x 30 to keep the ratio the same. I also made it transparent. Edit: heh, I'd better let Gordon play with this. [ 01-03-2002: Message edited by: Charles Lindsey ]
  2. quote:Will somebody please kindly tell me the purpose of the Science and Explorer careers To seek out new life, new civilizations...
  3. I chose avatar 4 but it's dead. In the downloaded folder it is avatar04.gif. But right click the dead pic and it is listed as avatar4.gif. Bet 1 - 3, 5 - 9 are the same way. The double digit avatars (IE avatar14.gif) seem to be working fine.
  4. I'll lock it. No hard feelings if you guys agree.
  5. Seems you got hold of the special intruder patch. Might not be "normal" per se but definitely possible. quote:can enemy forces beam men from within a stealthed craft? Yes.
  6. Been far too long since a roll call. So if anyone is hanging around please pipe up. The fleet database is down because it is being rebuilt. So this is an informal roll call. If you know you are in Balor give us a holler. That's it for now. [ 01-08-2002: Message edited by: Charles Lindsey ]
  7. That would be a pretty neat (and quick) recycling trick to get the same one you had. *Panther curses Charles*
  8. {URL=http://www.3000ad.com/register/profile.php?id=499}System Profile Info{/URL} Replace my curly brackets with the square brackets. Same key just don't use shift. Try that and it will display the following; System Profile Info [ 12-30-2001: Message edited by: Charles Lindsey ]
  9. quote:Aw, man. And I just made a post on how much I hate cheating at all. (edit) Or should that have been a wink? [ 12-30-2001: Message edited by: Charles Lindsey ]
  10. quote:Derek also confirmed he has no problems with writers creating fan fiction, etc. - he simply didn;t want to hand us "official" carte blanche to make changes to his universe. I think we have done well sticking to the universe as it is, even fairly heavy handed at times. No new ships, keep the tech feasible, etc, etc. I like playing in his sandbox. I want it to stay the same as well. As far as anything we do being "official", well you can spin things any way you want. We call it a war but it could have been any number of minor skirmishes. I really appreciate Derek allowing us to write fan fiction. Thank goodness he isn't Paramount or Anne McCafferey. Anne is in sort of the same position as Derek though. People love her books so much they write things into it and twist the premise. Just a small ramble.
  11. quote:That was BRILLIANT!! See, this is the kind of thing I'm talking about. You couldn't dock your shuttle with the command craft. So you exited the shuttle, flew in space and entered the command craft via an airlock (which is why the / key worked). I did something similiar. My bridge viewer was totally damaged. Malfunctions across the board. Luckily I was close enough to the station to fly to it. I targeted it with / and was able to dock. Not as creative as Brandon's situation but I thought it was neat.
  12. What Blades said. This is gonna work and be good.
  13. If you aren't current then you shouldn't report it at all. Reproduce it in a current game then report it.
  14. quote:I just edited my previous post. Which is why I hardly ever edit my own posts anymore. I can't remember what you said. You changed the entire content of your post. Your #1 is ok; but even those can be so difficult to solve one must rely on a cheat/walkthrough to further your position in the game. Your #2 is what is ludicrous. People should be flogged for presenting that type of puzzle. Whether or not a puzzle is logical does not enter into this discussion. (I don't think) Should one cheat? My complex puzzle point is one reason people may choose to cheat or use a walkthrough.
  15. quote:The only reason why it was so hard to solve was because it was so stupid. Therefore, it was mind numbing complex.
  16. I'll bite. quote:After all, isn't playing a game about the challenge it provides? Where's the fun if there's no challenge at all? Where is the fun if the challenge is mind numbing? I present the infamous "Cat Moustache" puzzle in a certain Sierra game. I forget which one because I haven't played it. I have read several reviewers complaining about that particular puzzle. I have read the solution to the puzzle and I feel the reviewers are right. The solution made no sense whatsoever and I can see someone turning to a walkthrough to get past it. Other Sierra games I.E. King's Quest and Space Quest which I did play the old DOS ones also had just really mind numbing challenges. So mind numbing they ceased to be fun. I have used walkthroughs on those before and enjoyed the game. Thief was great. I played it the whole way through without a moments trouble. There were puzzles that had to be solved yet there was skill involved as well. Thief II I have stalled in. The Bank level is hard. Not a big puzzle yet but difficult and time consuming. I won't cheat on this yet 'casue I know what to do just not how to do it yet. I need to pick this back up because it's fun. BCM I won't cheat in cause it's far too much fun to repair a nearly destroyed ship. I have no idea why I like that aspect but I do. But look at how may people cry over the ACM. Derek, as intelligent as he is, made some really mind numbing scenarios. Then he wonders when people cry. Warzone 2100 is a different matter. I'm at a level where the bad guuys have better equipment than I do. Not even my guys with ranks (advanced a bit) survive very long. Winning this level will be a matter of me building enough inferior units to beat their superior units. That one is tough and I'll figure it out. Maybe. I may get overwhelmed. I suppose what I am saying is that I do like a good challenging game. But when the designers have exceeded my level of expertise or intelligence or problem solving ability and it ceases to be fun and I will resort to a cheat and/or walkthrough so that I may continue to have fun. Multiplay cheats would be bad though.
  17. quote:How does one unload the debugger? Ctrl + Alt + Del one time and "End task". Repeat as necessary on everything but Explorer and systray. That was SOP during testing so other programs wouldn't mess with the beta. Also a good hint for low end users. Regain as much processing power as you can before playing.
  18. Need some pointers please. Per the "Ships schematics" thread I have pulled the old 1 gig hard drive from the dead computer. I hooked it up to this one and tried to get some info. Problem 1: It tried to boot from that drive. (win 95) Found all the devices (most of them). But I changed it to boot off the original. Problem 2: Booting from the original Windows Explorer recognizes the old drive but shifts it to d: and the cd to e:. Not a big problem. But then I tried to copy files from the old drive and Win98 won't recognize anything. Says they are invalid files. In fact the files are displayed like this; bcLaYoUt.zIp. Almost every file is displayed as a mixture of caps and lowercase. Problem 3: Change it back to boot from the old drive and let Win95 find everything. It operates but Windows Explorer doesn't see the original drive. Just c: and the cd rom. The only thing I haven't tried is booting from the old drive and using an old AOL version to upload it to my web space. Any other ideas? It doesn't have to operate well. Just one more time.
  19. Dee-man quote:Voodo 3 AGP with Latest Drivers That should be last official drivers. hehe I was getting an error in BCM.exe and another game wouldn't start either. I had to install the drivers from the disk then update them to the last official 1.07 drivers. Everything works now.
  20. Melcar has it. With the ability to switch to the different support vehicles in BC3K you were basically becoming that character while in BCM your AE (alter ego) must walk to the craft himself before you can operate it.
  21. I remember you Ferigad. #1 I'm sure the terrain will become better over time. #2 The AI is fine. You get some great guys (well, relatively at 19%) and you get some guys dumb as Resnig. But every one will learn over time. You wouldn't want everyone to be as smart as they can be. Especially if it was an intruder or an enemy fighter like you are talking about.
  22. That's alt + L for Logistix then Power then Launch Control then turn it off. And P turns on the PTA in both versions. Bannon, you been around a bit so you should know by now but for others... BC3k: Fly one capital ship, be any character BCM: Fly any capital ship, can only be one character. Heh, if you have to buy BCM and register to get to the board this thread is almost useless. But someone may try the old thing. Don't feel bad Bannon. I tested BCM with a 500 Celeron and a voodoo 3 and am still using it.
  23. I know. I already linked to them in my post two above this one. For the thread you found SC's link popped right up in getright. No 404 error for me. I didn't save it though 'cause I already have it. Try it again or use my link above. For the others, can I pull that old hard drive and hook it to this machine without any problem? I got a spare power plug and a spare input port thing. (where the flat cable plugs into.)
