I just purchased BCM Gold, have been playing only a few days and would like to ask for some information. This is my first post, so forgive me if I'm in the wrong forum (I guess since I'm a newbie I just gravitated to this particular forum first). Its possible that I should have posted this in BCM Gold general discussion, so if I'm in the wrong place, let me know and I'll be sure to go there next time.
I have BCM Gold version 1.00.00. After playing a few days I decided to check the forum and realized there is an update patch for my game. I downloaded patch v1.01.00 and installed it, and for some reason after installing the patch, each time I would try to leave my ship in fps mode the game would crash to desktop. I spent quite a bit of time reading the update faq's and anything else I could find on the subject and could find no reason why this might be happening.
Because I had not yet recieved permission to post on this forum, I decided to try for some tech support. I e-mailed
[email protected], not realizing that they didn't handle tech support for BCM Gold (they let me know). Anyway, they did give me a link, and suggested I needed to update the version since I had just bought it a few days ago. The link I went to had a version update v1.09.01(?) which I downloaded into the game folder and installed. Now when I start the game up I get an unfamiliar blue Battlecruiser Millenium start-up screen (instead of the black), and I'm prompted to put in the "correct" game CD. The game will not start up at all now.
Did I screw things up by downloading this v1.09.01 patch? If so, what is the highest version to go to from the original v1.00.00? The game was running fine right out of the package, and I probably should have just left things the way they were, but I assumed there were some improvements that came along with the version update (if done correctly).
This game is unlike any I've ever played on the PC before...I've done nothing but read the manual and continue to learn more about playing since I first made the purchase. I really wish I could get back to playing again, which is why I impatiently wrote this post for help instead of searching for more information on getting the version update right.
