  1. Ummm.... w0000000000000000000000000000000t (sorry, couldn't help myself Anyways, talk about a great day!!!
  2. It's a decent joystick, no complaints here (and I've had 4 or 5 others that I did have complaints about I have had it for a few years, not a single problem to report, works great. It's base is heavy enough to be solid, yet not be overly heavy and the tension on the joystick itself isn't nearly enough to move the entire unit (one of my major complaints about most joysticks is that you have to put weight on them to keep them in place if you move the stick to the outer edges of the movement zone) I know I've had it for at least two years, though I might have had it for quite a bit longer. quote: My benchmark for good computer hardware is that I should be able to forget about it and play my games. I pay no attention this joystick. Check it out here (link to ebay) if your interested. Seems to be going for about 25ish dollars, a reasonable price. Anyways, hope this helps
  3. You know, it's 2 A.M. here in my new home (left the military a week and a half ago), it's Friday night, and I'm at home trolling the BCM boards... I was actually thinking to myself as I microwaved my pizza "Is this a normal thing for a 24 yr old to be doing at this time of morning on an obvious party night? I haven't even had any beer today!!!" Then, I happened upon this thread and I could have sworn that the sun came out Thank you very much
  4. I'm partial to my Microsoft Precision 2 Joystick. My benchmark for good computer hardware is that I should be able to forget about it and play my games. I pay no attention this joystick. It has enough buttons (8+8 on POV hat), good solid base, a small dead-zone with no drift, and I can grab it in the dark The Microsoft Precision 2 Joystick is very ergonomically designed with a comfortable grip if you are right-handed, if not, don't buy this model. One thing that's worth noting is that some people have had problems, either with drift or WinXP not detecting it, though I suspect they are doing something wrong, have a strange hardware platform that just isn't compatible with it, or they are fully utilizing their USB 1.1 bandwidth. It is worth mentioning that all computer hardware has problems with select groups of consumers, especially products as popular as Microsoft's. Hope that helps.
  5. Take this for what it's worth; I'm very sleepy... Not even going to try to answer your initial post, its way too confusing for me. quote: like when you do a Space Marine Roam mission, you start outside the ship, and on some parts of the ship or space station, you fall right through the hull. If you have installed the game correctly and other games are working correctly, then its time to look at the manual. Did you read pages 99 through 103? Did you notice that the game will not allow you to complete a full Z-axis rotation? My guess here is that you are just barely jumping off the ground, and then actually flying to another surface, one at a steep angle where the system is not able to right you again. Try starting over, jumping off the ground, and get a feel for the jetpack so you can compensate for problems such as this before you really begin to explore Galcom HQ (the default starting base for Terrain/Mil) quote: if you start a Roam Campaign as a Commander it never warps to any system, now, i could just be doing something wrong with waypoints but i dunno, but here's what happens, i plot the course, tell them to engage hyper drive, and they say preparing the coordinates and all that i hand the ship over to auto pilot and then nothing ever happens, i can't ever use the thrust controls again either, the wole ship just locks up. Alright, these are going to seem like stupid questions Is your engine and reactor on? (The icons on the top-left side of the main screen) Did you plot a Nav course? (Pages 48-50 and pages 71-72 in the BCMG manual) Do the necessary ship systems have power? (Pages 53-54 in the BCMG manual, all systems should be powered with the exception of the cloning module) Finally, is the Autopilot on? (Pages 68-71 in the BCMG manual) I know that I have read the entire manual many many times while playing the game. Battle Cruisers learning curve is a cliff. It is worth mentioning that people who have been around for over a year and have 300+ posts have probably read the manual, nor do they reside in the underworld (where Steve W. is currently located) ... but that's just a hunch on my part Anyways Hope this helps.
  6. Wow, now that's customer service!!!
  7. I love the Questar. Yeah, it's not much when compared to stronger, bigger, better (cloak-able) ships but it's fast and deadly if handled correctly Ever seen a player capture another ship, tractor it, wait for it's shields to regenerate, then try to back up on a starbase keeping the tractored ship between them and the base's big main guns? Well, if you fly a Questar, you know what I'm talking about. Don't laugh, I've actually tried that... (Seriously though, thank goodness for firing arcs It seems to me that the PTA "Sweet Spot" on most other ships is some miniscule area near the front of the ship and you have to move your ship this way and that to get a target into it blah blah. Not so with the Questar And the most wonderful thing about the Questar is... PTA Sweet Spot = Front of Ship Fly at fighters in a very drunk manner, that's not a prob for the Questar. She shoots even more at targets located on the top 50% of the screen so... just fly upside down and poof, no ground targets for your main guns
  8. Maybe my thumb is more oily than your average thumb, or he doesn't play games with it
  9. omg that's funny! btw, do NOT by this mouse from MicroShaft unless you don't mind taking it apart every 1-2 hours to clean the entire unit. The exceedingly small amount of grease from your thumb is MORE than enough to screw it up!
  10. I think that with regards to "Alcohol", they were newbies who probably meant to refer to Alcohol Soft , a company that is currently is working on a way to circumvent even this copyright protection, per the moderator of the Alcohol Soft board. If anyone cares to hear the frustration of a few "wanna-be pirates" you can find that here and here. Here is what an "expert" says about StarForce 3 (Spelling corrected to protect your eyes quote: A popular game protection system and rapidly overtaking the well established safe disc as the leading game CD protection. IÔÇÖve never encountered it myself, but from what IÔÇÖve heard itÔÇÖs quite nasty. Debugger-detection, heavy encryption, its paranoid. Even has a routine which checks for any suspicious loaded CD drivers that may be an emulated CD drive. The system is interesting through. No amount of raw copying work will copy a Star force 3.x game. It actually requires messing with the disc during mastering, altering it in ways no CD writer can write. The only way to copy one of these is a game-specific CD-copy crack. Making one of those is complicated because of the many anti-debugger techniques and encryption, but it can be done and so the cracks can be found on the net. Also, some CD drive emulator programmers are even now working on harder to detect drives, which will hopefully do it. Star force 1 and 2 are a bit weaker, and can be copied (with a suitable drive) by Gamejack (3.01), Clone CD and Alcohol 120% (some by copying, some by emulating, some by both, I have no more specific information). Star force 1+2 cannot be defeated using CDR-win, Nero or blindwrite. Star force 3 cannot be defeated by any copier. All can be defeated using a game specific cracktaken from here. From what I've seen trolling the boards, currently it's 100% effective in protecting the CD from copying, but, as the fellows who made Fire Chief learned, burning the CD itself isn't always the problem. I wonder how many angry parents there are right now just dumbfounded that their teen-age sons have taken abrasive cleaners to their parents software Probably have better luck looking at the CD with a magnifying glass and trying to write down the data
  11. I'm a newbie as well, but this gameÔÇÖs addictive, so I'll be here for awhile. (Probably woulda gotten here sooner, but BCM has a steep learning curve, errr.... more of a vertical line that goes straight up forever
  12. What happened then? Did the Gammulan get wiped out? Is the fleet a burning wreck? You can't keep us on the edge of our seats like that!!!
  13. Me being a newbie and all and I've already got SC commenting back. Can't wait for UC. I got my order confirmation from Amazon.com
  14. Well, I need the demo; just ordered online but it takes 5-7 days for free shipping
  15. Thank you very much. I guess it was so late when I tried it last night that I just couldn't get it to work. Just to test it, I send my Marines against a weaker-base near Wraith... they didn't last too long but fought like true marines
  16. Well, after months of procrastination, IÔÇÖve finally become a some-what decent commander, but I do have one question. After scouring the manual, Google, the appendix, and the 3000ad forums, I can find no instructions regarding the management of my marines after planet fall, specifically regarding base attacks and such. I can deploy them from shuttles, beam them down, etc. but cannot get them to do anything besides stare at me. Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.
