  1. Most intruders like to booby-trap shuttles, just incase they do get caught again. And unfortunately for you, marines make lousy EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) personell. If the shuttle makes it off your ship, just count it lost, and blast it out of spite. [ 03-09-2004, 07:04 PM: Message edited by: Reno ]
  2. Dont quote me (SC, dont hit me either), but I bet if you sell stuff at the station that it does not produce, it will count toward supply. I mean, why supply beer to an Agri. station when they could find more use for radine? (Well, bring the beer anyways...)
  3. Ok, so maybe -slowly- pitching up isnt the only way. Guess I'm too subtle
  4. The altitude will seem to bounce a little as your climbing, but if you notice, when the numbers bounce back up, it's to a higher number than what they bounced up to last time. Just keep your burners lit and pitched up a little. Around 5-10 degrees usually works (I just checked yesterday), but if it doesnt you may need to slowly (key word here) pitch up until you find an angle where you get a slow climb. And for the record, none of the ships can egress while standing on their tails (90 pitch) so if thats what you're doing...
  5. This is gonna be a nice game, I think... This coming from a 'zoomie' who is also a fan of the first two sims in this series.. Now I will get a chance to introduce player-controlled 'fig-7's' to some Novatar lovin
  6. It's also made by micro$oft...the one company that can make a loss on one product and happily keep on trucking till the -next- millinium.
  7. Two or three degrees...once you're just under flight ceiling, climb at full burner at two or three degrees. Never fails for me, regardless of if it's a an Interceptor-2 or a Generis.
  8. quote:Originally posted by Bandus: First, I do not beleive you can access the Super Carrier class as a TERRAN commander. The S-Carrier class is for the Gammulan Military race/caste only and the only thing in that group is the Stormcarrier...Thats the G-Super Carrier class, or something like it (At work, cant remember). However, there is a 'regular' super carrier class, with the Aestrom and Firestorm, that any military caste can use.
  9. Just planet hopping likely wouldnt take that long... Now, scoping out all the bases, cities, space ports, naval fleets, etc...THAT would take a while.
  10. Geeze, atleast wait a few months before asking about sequels.
  11. I did a little experimenting with this, and found that you -can- start an SFM career without a CTD. Also, if you try to do a space walk from a shuttle, it will CTD. I tried bailing out of a fighter to see what would happen, but forgot you cant do that in this version (heh, oops).
  12. Cloaking devices do not a better ship make. A cruiser can just as easily take a station with the propper tactics. Carriers just make it easy with that iridium-sucking high tech toy they have. Of course, now, with ships being slower, that cloak can be a liability, as you may end up nuking your crew before you even take down the station.
  13. Generis! Screw the military ships, armed transports rule (even more-so now that they have large marine complements and OC loads)

  15. SC..I'd give you a coin for this, if I trusted the USPS
  16. Ok, as is typical of me (as you will soon learn) I went and picked at the game using what you told me. It seems that the W and S keys override the throttle controller, atleast once you get above 50m/s and out of VTOL range. When in VTOL range, if you have the throttle at anything less than around 2/3, the ship refuses to accelerate past double-digit speeds (40-45 range). But once you're moving faster than 50m/s, the throttle controller is completely overriden by the W key. It didnt matter if I had the throttle pulled fully back, the ship stayed at full speed if I held the W key. Now, as before, when I keep the throttle full forwards, when I let go of the W key the ship will -very- slowly decelerate from the speed I left it at. And when I pull back on the stick, it's like hitting the brakes. Is this as it's intended, or am I missing something in my caffine deprived state?
  17. Ok, so translation to GI: Stick forwards full while pressing accelerate (W) means I can burn to full speed. Stick half while pressing accelerate and I can burn to half speed. I have to use both to get my lovely Generis moving, right? If this is the case, I guess it would be worth mapping one of the throttle unit hats to W and S.
  18. Well, maybe not completely non-functional. But it seems that my Saitek X45's throttle is incapable of accelerating my asset of choice. When full forward, my craft will very slowly decelerate from it's current speed, and when full back it rapidly decelerates to a stop. Once stopped, I cant accelerate using the joystick throttle only. I've looked through the VCF and troubleshooting guide, and IAW said guide I tried recalibrating the stick in both windows, and in game (ctrl+alt+j) with no effect. I've also tried messing around with Saitek's macroing software, reseting the button assignments to default every time I've recal'd the stick. I'm hoping this is just a problem with my stick, and not a bug in the game. And if it is a problem with my stick, can someone give me some other suggestions to fix it?
