I was looking in the stores for a copy of X2 (I could get it from D2D, but I decided I'd rather just have the boxed version) and I couldn't find it, but I did find a copy of Freelancer so I decided to buy it and give the full version a try. It doesn't have some of the features X2 has, but I think the multiplayer ability will make up for it.

I haven't tried Hunter-Killer, but I do have Enigma: Rising Tide and Silent Hunter III to curb my submarine cravings.

I downloaded the demo for X2 a few days ago, and I have to say that I am leaning more towards X2 than Freelancer now. To me, it looks like X2 has a much more complicated menu system and the ships are harder to control, but the ability to purchase and build your own stations is pretty cool. Also X2 seems to have a larger variation of jobs to accept. Not having the multiplayer is a drawback, though. Originally I was looking at Freelancer for the 1st person ship control or Homeworld 2 for the build-your-own-fleet ability, but it looks like X2 combines the best of both worlds.

Now tell us the truth SC. You wrote both those reviews, didn't you? just kidding......don't hit me Amazing. It sounds like those guys actually took the time to learn the controls and menus and see the game for what it is. It's not your ordinary run-around-killing-everthing-in-sight-frag-fest, and that's what makes it fun. It won't hold your hand, but also it won't hold you back.

Well I downloaded the demo for Freelancer just to give it try before I decide, and I have to say that it is fun so far. It gave me a few missions from the start of the game to try, and when I was done, instead of saying thanks for playing and please buy the retail version to try anything else, it just let me go ahead and explore, taking on new missions at the bars if I wanted. I think the demo alone could keep me busy for a while. Thanks for all your replies. It helps out knowing what others with some of the same tastes think of games. I'm looking for a new game to play, but I don't want to spend more than $20. There are a few I have been considering. I've searched the forums here and read reviews at other places, and they tend to get mixed results. So if you could pick one game from the list below, what would you pick and why? Also if you have other suggestions feel free to list them. 1. Tribes : Vengeance (I've had no experience with the series) 2. Homeworld 2 (Played the demo. It was pretty fun) 3. Freelancer (Never played, just read reviews and it sounds fun) 4. X2 - The Threat (I've had no experience with the series) 5. Thief 3 (Payed Thief 2, great game)

Sorry, maybe my post was misleading. I DID see it on Amazon's site, but since SC says he never gave it to them to distribute, I'm sure they either made a mistake or were misled by Dreamcatcher. I wouldn't wait for them to send it to you cause who knows what you'll get...

Well I'm sure curious how he was able to get registered in S.C.I.D because every time I have tried to join the last 2 days using the password I got from Teknocack Prime I get an invalid password error.

I experienced the same problem late Saturday night while playing online with Casey and Firestar (believe it was Firestar). All three of us would be in orbit. One of us would then go down to a mission zone on the planet, and as soon as that happened we would lose connection with each other. It would look like we were still playing on the server, but sending messages didn't work, we couldn't see any movement updates. If one of us got out and refreshed the server list, it wouldn't show anybody on it. We also experienced it if one of us left our CC while in space.

I'm guessing this is the right place to post this. I was just playing UCAWA on server 3 using a Battlecruiser MK1 and playing as a military commander. I started at Paladian station in the Procon system and immediately had a SOS coming from a disabled ship. I towed the ship to the station and dropped it off. I noticed an enemy vessel in the system so I jumped to it. I caught up to it right as it was going through the gate to Castrin. I followed it through and when I got to the other side I had 50+ red dots surrounding me . Unfortunately I had turned off my cloak right before I went through the gate. I tried to turn tail and run but I didn't get away fast enough. Game over. I restarted and went back in as an elite force pilot with a zenstar (Re-incarnation.....gotta love it ). I jumped to the gate and went through, and by this time most of the enemy was gone. There were still 5 or 6 figher craft, but I was able to dispose of 4 of them pretty fast and the rest took off. I had a little revenge so I left the game after that, but all-in-all not too bad for my first time really playing on the MP servers. Can't wait to try it out with human teammates. P.S. It is normal behavior in MP for the NPC players to amass an ARMADA and camp out on the other side of a gate waiting for a poor defenseless NOOB commander to fall into their trap? Cause if so next time I'm sending in a probe first and leaving my CLOAK on....

I had the same problem last night. I haven't tried today yet. Maybe the hurricaine in Florida and their lack of power in a lot of places is affecting the ability for the servers to run properly.....
