Avid reader of Women's Wall Street are ya Steve? Jaguar, regardless of this article the President is a damned liar. Speaks to God? Right. Gets his advice from God? Right. This is a bunch of propagandist crap just like the stuff Bush spews, so in that you can relate BUSH to this STORY. You fellas understand the correlation now? Huh, how bout you LIS? Tom Ridge is on TV... "well we don't know when and we don't know where"... tossing out the fear like candy but the funny thing is no threat level increase... do you know why? THESE CHEAP BASTARDS DON'T WANT TO PAY OVERTIME. Every time they throw up the color coded dummy system to a new level guess what happens... THEY HAVE TO SPEND MONEY. So how do you keep the people afraid ... while... keeping the money in the pockets of the mercenaries instead of the good ol' police and firefighters... well hell you just release propaganda. FYI, average salary of a merc in Iraq or Afghanistan (employees of American security companies 80-120K per annum... average American cop... MAYBE 30K per annum). I don't care if they strip search Muslims... I really don't. I don't care if they make them a target. They are the predominant number of terrorists out there. However, was Tim McVeigh not a white bred good ol' boy that served his country and served it well? So when you imbeciles are just keeping an eye out for "brown" people, I frankly hope that someone else is looking at the white people who might be Bosnians or some other eastern European kind of terrorist that wants us to REALIZE their plight. You guys are right, Muslims are the majority of terrorists but I would LOVE to have a lineup of Indians, Iraqis, Pakistanis, Saudis, etc. etc... and then I would LOVE for you to tell me if they are Hindus or Muslims or just WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE. Call a spade a spade gentlemen... anyone that doesn't look like US is a threat. Black man walks through your neighborhood and paranoid MF'ers like you react just the same. I don't care if you are arab, black, white, asian... whatever, I'm keeping an eye on you. My point is the government can profile who they like... but if you leave it at arabs as being the threat to your safety you're as good as dead anyway. Terror in the Skies, Again?

OK... so where is the "problem" in this story. Nobody died and nobody was harmed. You asked what people were doing, they were watching and they were observing. When the plane landed these guys were greeted by what sounds like a swarm of stormtrooper types. The descriptions are very "female" if I may be sexist here. Oh I may not? Well tough. Steve a guy takes his McDonald's bag into the bathroom and this is what grabbed you about this story? A radio personality in my town gets crap for having eaten a sandwich in the station bathroom all the time. Maybe this guy didn't want to share or offend the people sitting next to him with the stink of that poison. If I was concerned by that I would have gone into that bathroom and searched it MYSELF. I'll tell you where the failure if any lies. If these people were afraid for their lives and genuinely concerned... to the point of believing they may be goners YOU GET UP, YOU GO BACK THERE AND YOU GET IN THE WAY. He looked at me with cold dead eyes, or whatever the hell this broad said... HONEY, go write some fiction. These poor bastards that had to listen to this yentah recount this... ugh... hijackers were probably leaving bomb materials on planes while these poor bastards were busy tending to this woman and her "harrowing" tale. Look we all saw those planes fly into those buildings. I WOULD NOT HAVE SAT ON MY ASS. I would have gotten up... and maybe I would have been the first to get a pencil stuck in my throat for it but hey if I feel like I might die anyway BETTER TO GO OUT SWINGING. Yes the government needs to be vigilant and yes there are issues of civil liberties that are up for debate post 9/11 but this lady's STORY smacks of sensationalism. If anything her husband is a god damn coward making her get up to go to the back of the plane. I would be embarrassed if I were him reading this. Finally he gets off his rear end and what does he do... goes and runs to another WOMAN attendant. Bravo sir. I hate to tell you people but stopping terrorists is as much OUR responsibility as it is the government's. All of the screening in the world WILL NOT insure us of our safety. Some things fall squarely in our laps. I went to Scotland June 7th. On my flight was a NUTTER woman, who would not turn off her phone and who while we were taxi'ing to the runway tried to show the stewardess she could open the emergency door by REACHING FOR IT. As soon as I saw the woman arguing with the stewardess my seatbelt was UNBUCKLED. When the woman got up and got in the face of the stewardess, me and three other guys were rising from our seats. That's when another man got up and put a hand on her shoulder and said, "sit down!" She then turned on him and smacked him across the face. Welp the guy put a knee in her back and another guy jumped up and said, "US AIR MARSHALLS EVERYONE SIT DOWN!" I got my ass back into my seat lickety split! But the purpose of recounting this is that there were three or more of us READY and willing to do what needed to be done. I don't care if there were 14 guys or ONE WOMAN... we didn't know if she was just a whacko or if she was creating a diversion. Luckily for us she was just a nut. I sure as hell am not going to be seen to be suspiciously looking around the cabin so that if somebody DOES act I can be the first guy they cut the throat of. The reason why civil liberties can be trampled is because people want to shluff off the responsibility for their personal safety on the government. Hmmm... guess they were never a white kid walking through Hollis Queens or for that matter a black kid walking alone through Bayside. You learn to take care of yourself. Night at the Movies - King Arthur

Good lord... some of the critical debate over this movie makes me wonder why I am bothering to reply but what the hell... OK... let me say this. If you want a couple of hours of escapism in an action flick... King Arthur is not bad. If you aren't some psychotic that is married to a fairy tale told in one standard way (for the most part) then this might be worth a look. I much appreciated the fact that they changed the story to reflect a more realistic Arthur. I have Excalibur in my collection, it is a fine movie although aging very poorly. The armor and the acting leave much to be desired as well in Excalibur but apparently people are willing to overlook it for this "classic" *snickers*. If you go in wanting Lancelot and Guenevere to betray Arthur and for Arthur to father Mordred with his wicked half sister IT AIN'T IN HERE. This story is the telling of the legend in a way that while not realistic is much more likely. The Saxons attacking, the Romans being driven out, the wall... there was some fact in the telling. Color me crazy but that was refreshing. The Norse and the crazy Scots were a blight on Britain, they did build a wall to keep them out... not the nice "Troy" looking wall but a wall nonetheless. Just because they added a fantastic element like the horses (and were they not beautiful... man magnificent horses, I laughed at the camp of that scene but I also enjoyed it for what it was)... if this was a movie about Indian warriors we'd be hearing how COOL that was. The direction is sketchy but not bad. I happen to appreciate seeing expression just as I appreciate dialogue (neither done to any greatness in this flick). The battle scenes were adequate and when you bother to research and find out that Touchstone made Fuqua BUTCHER his own work for a PG-13 you understand what likely happened. Fuqua is an adequate director and his work in this film is just that. As for the death of a key character at the end... come on it's a movie. It's a jump from the norm. If you want to see a good movie that for the most part (though not completely) sticks to the normal, done a thousand times tale go rent Mists of Avalon. Anybody looking to be entertained... will enjoy this movie. Anyone doing thesis work on cinema or Arthurian legend STAY AWAY. This is a pocorm and a coke movie.. PERIOD the END. I happen to love popcorn and a Coke movies... how about you? 8/10

What's it like living in your neck of the world

Hmmm... what's there to say about Florida? Well South Florida might be California light and Palm Beach County might be New York light... but the beauty of this state transcends the cliches of Miami and Palm Beach. I am fortunate enough to live in Martin County which is north of Palm Beach County. Here we have responsible growth and one of the best school districts in the state. We also have the best beaches bar none. Sure the Gulf Coast has some nice beaches but we have the Gulfstream which brings fresh warm water to our doorstep. In my 15 years of living in Florida it has grown immensely. Sure they harvest Springer Show participants from this state but that's ok with me as long as I can stay in Martin County. We have Orlando 90 miles away and Miami 99 miles away, we are smack dab in the middle of amusements and the like. Couldn't ask for anything more. Growing up in Queens, NY until I turned 18 and then moving here taught me to appreciate the fact that Florida is not half as hectic as people make it out to be. I'm a city kid so I can never be far from the action. However as the kids grow and time matures me maybe Colorado will call... but only if I get to keep a summer house in Scotland. Now there I could live in small town and not much care. A sailboat, a house overlooking Raasay from Skye... oh yeah I could do that just fine. It is a shame that Florida is growing too fast. It is a shame that a shack on even sloppy water costs you $500,000.00. It is a shame that a modest home in a good neighborhood (where there is good paying work) costs $250,000.00 plus. This state wasn't always like that. I'm glad I got to live here before all of the changes. I'm glad I got my foot in the door early. I feel bad for the kids that grow up here and want to stay here... property is so inflated that you have to buy an investment property just so your kids will have a place to go if they want to live in their home town. This is Florida.

    Solar reactor

quote:Originally posted by Ditto00: yes its radine And we already now that the reactor provides backup power, what we are trying to figure out is what the power setting in logistix does for the solar reactor Well I know this won't satisfy you but perhaps the obvious is unacceptable for one of your, "love to chase my own tail" mentality. IT DOESN'T DO JACK SQUAT. Go ahead and change the settings. Hell turn it off. Hmmmm... interesting? Not really. I chalk it up that some things are there for affect and if it came down to me needing 5 units of power I would turn that sucker off and likely notice no diminished ability. Sometimes we have to accept the obvious rather than chucking it aside and ignoring it in favor of the obscure. If I am wrong then I challenge SC to correct me otherwise I will believe I am dead on right and be happy with my embracing of the practical *snickers*.

Matinee at the movies - Spiderman2

Spiderman 2 was surely a sentimental movie wrapped around a blistering action center. It was nice to see Peter Parker fleshed out more the movie pivking right up where it left off, with a tormented guy carrying a weighty secret. It was very cool to see how they resolved that issue which I won't discuss because it would spoil it for people reading this thread. Doc Ock, what can you say about this villain? He was excellent! He was the counterweight. He was what Peter might have been had he chosen another avenue. Afterall wasn't Octavius just a man that was coping with many of the burdens that Parker faces but choosing another course? There were some parts of this flick that made me gittery. Some of it did drag a bit. I did see the kids looking around, fidgeting and actually becoming a little bored ... that however was remedied with some of the best fight scenes I have ever seen. The train part was worth the price of the ticket... no doubt. Instead of dumbing down the comic book they have kept the mature themes of Spiderman intact and for that Raimi deserves supreme credit. He sticks with the story and doesn't sacrifice the humanity of Peter Parker for the flash and spectacle of Spiderman. Kudos to Bruce Campbell... it's always nice to see him make an appearance in any film! As for the Hulk... it took itself way too seriously and the payoff for sticking with the story was one of the worst endings in film. It's a shame too because for most people it was the CGI that killed it. For me it was the fact that Ang Lee dragged out the telling of Banner's story and struggles for 90 minutes and then gave you such a weak ending. You don't beat the audience over the head with "this is a man of many facets" for 90 minutes and then give us an ending like that. Amateurish at best. Ang Lee needs to see Spriderman 2 to see how you do it the right way. Peace

    Solar reactor

Personally, I have always felt that the solar reactor was there so that I would have some power (providing I was able to get light) when my ship was a smoldering wreck and my reactor was down. I don't see any benefit to systems other than they are operational when the reactor is toast. Regardless this answer has always been sufficient for me so I keep it powered at 5 and forget about it... until I get JACKED UP. Then it comes in handy.

I voted for Bush but he needs to go, nice to see the fear setting in for you guys that fail to see the stupidity of this Administration. One thing about Kerry that is different, he is going to get the message loud and clear that he better have the goods if he wants to wage war. People feel lied to and that's what is going to bite Bush in the ass. He lied and people know it.

    Heavy Cruisers

I played Starfleet Academy, although I did play Starfleet Command a time or two. I just didn't much like the idea of missiles in the Star Trek universe heheh. Doubtful we fought in SFC but if you meant SFA, I played that a lot and I had quite the reputation. There were two camps for SFA the cheap bastards on MPlayer (free service and you got what you paid for) and we paying customers on Kali (a great program for its time that made LAN games playable online). Anyway thanks for correcting me. I thought it had 12 turrets and 4 main guns reading the appendix. I guess from what you wrote 12 turrets in the appendix includes the 4 main guns. My bad I should really have gone and counted them while in F9 mode... lazy me.

    Fahrenheit 9/11

Yes, you knew it had to happen. Somebody would have to finally comment on this movie. First of all there is always the debate where it concerns a Michael Moore movie as to whether one should consider it a Documentary or not. I think that because Moore manages to entertain while making these films he is somehow taken less seriously. Also because Moore has taken liberties with material he brings scrutiny on himself (ofcourse most of these detractors also watch Fox News without any problem *snickers*). There are parts in this film that will make people laugh, will make people cry and will make people angry. I don't want to get political, (afterall this is just a movie thread) but Moore does stir you and does make you think. There is a lot in the movie that cannot be simply explained away as "revenge", "propaganda", etc. Some of this stuff you just can't make up. Some of this stuff has been covered before but perhaps not placed in the context of the whole picture so that you see clearly that there is a pattern of behavior within government that surely makes one arch an eyebrow. Republicans will say that they are boycotting this movie because it is propaganda. I find that humorous. I went in with a popcorn and a coke and I enjoyed this movie like I would any other. It was not made to sway people that are firmly entrenched in one camp or the other politically. It was made to illustrate for those that maybe haven't been paying attention, some of the absurdity that is epidemic within government. If you hated the Iraq war before you went in, you'll still hate it coming out. Likewise if you loved Bush going in, you'll likely love Bush coming out. I will never understand how that could be possible seeing the evidence laid before you (not just in this film but in the day to day workings of the government) but that's not for me to judge. For those of you that think this was a campaign ad, John Kerry is not mentioned once. This is all about Bush and what has gone on for the past three or so years. SPOILER - one thing I never knew and found to be a startling revelation surrounds Fox News calling Florida for Bush and who was on duty there at Fox that night. It makes you go HMMMMMMM. Also, I was also quite interested to hear about Mr. Bath and his relations with Bush and Bush's National Guard service. If you go see this let me know what you think about that. Well shot. Great entertainment value for a documentary. It was stirring and thought provoking. My wife and I, life long Republicans have not shut up about it since we left the theater. Oh, one more strange thing about this movie. I saw it with a pretty mixed crowd, seniors, middle aged folks, twenty somethings and even teens (it was a packed house with a line waiting to get in for the next show). When the movie ended for the first time ever (I'm 34 I've seen a lot of movies) people APPLAUDED. It was very foreign to me to see such a response. "Now watch this drive," *nods, smirks and walks to the tee* [ 06-26-2004, 04:55 PM: Message edited by: Takvah ]

CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS?! CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS?! BUAHAHAH! Oh this is like that time you brought up some inane internet fabrication as fact and then I checked urban myths on the net and the very thing you posted was there... *laughs* OK, Michael Moore is I suppose, in great company because the only other person Hitchens has savaged to such a degree was MOTHER THERESA! Hitchens also savages Clinton regularly while defending Henry Kissinger. Now when you savage Clinton (who SURELY DESERVES IT) and wash the feet *snickers* of Henry Kissinger, I think that you've painted yourself firmly into one political corner Jaguar. Hitchens is not some lefty gone rogue against Michael Moore. Your assertions that this is the case is as dishonest as what you proclaim Moore has done. Your fact checking is suspect Jag. As for Hitchens, let's face it he is a crafty opportunist. He is a Devil's advocate type of personality that attacks what is currently popular to get his name out there. I don't find anything wrong with this personally, the same could be said about Moore... but you don't counter what you proclaim to be propaganda with MORE propaganda. Hitchens casually ignores the truths in the movie applying to it a standard that he himself fails to meet. Peace

    The return of SLI

Hoofah. Dual processors, hell why not dual videocards? I guess they were packing major bongs when they thought this one up. Late one Friday night at NVidia two engineers contemplate the future of video technology. "Screw advancement maaaaan," *cough, cough, cough* "let's just sell em two cards linked!" Leaning forward in a beanbag chair to grab away the hookah, "DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE! That is such a righteous idea!" You have to admit, the simplicity of the idea is magical... or should I say herbally mystifying.

    Heavy Cruisers

Well, I don't think that any one Heavy Cruiser can claim supremacy. I like to think of my own strengths when considering the options. For me, personally, the Sunflash makes sense. I know that there won't always be a wingman for me to rely on. I also know that most people that play fly the bigger and better equipped ships. We however, are raiders. We have to make our way in a multiplayer environment where bigger is considered better. The Sunflash with shields upgraded (as Shingen has wisely mandated as a priority on entering a game) is a formidable foe. For one she is well armored. Coupled with strong shields she can go jab for jab if not toe to toe with most vessels. She is slower than her Heavy Cruiser sisters but at 500km/s she can outpace all Carriers. Speed is only a factor when compared with Super Cruisers which can cruise at unholy speeds. The Sunflash counters in the weapons department with 12 turrets and 4 main guns. While the ratings of theTURRETS might be decreased their number is most beneficial when cutting and running fails to be an option and the walls are closing in. The main guns of the Sunflash are potent (ranking as a middle range for the Super Carrier class) and give this smaller ship stopping power. Obviously the Sunflash is not a Carrier. What she is however is a well rounded vixen, a girl that's been around the block and knows how to take care of herself. I do not face foes with any real apprehension (especially when my shields are upgraded) but I do use common sense. The bane of our class of vessels is the lack of fighter support. Obviously you have to take into account the fact that fighters exponentially increase the enemy's abilities. Adding the weapons of fighters to the tactical capabilities of larger vessels removes parity between our smaller class vessels and their larger behemoths. Lazy Commanders will see their careers end quickly. This is a sad fact. However Commanders among our number that can learn to fight and survive will make minced meat of the military fleets that cloak, launch fighters and engage in mop up ops for their AI counterparts. A prosperous day to you all. Takvah

    BushCo cries "wolf" yet again

PAID? Do me a favor and read this. PNAC why another defense review Look up the word neocon. Then look at the list of supporters and signers to the philosophies of the PNAC. Any of the names look familiar? I don't mind America flexing its muscles but when you see that these LUNATICS have gotten everything they have wanted, destabilization to the point where our government act militarily before provocation, enough is enough. Read the list of people onboard here. Any of those names look familiar? How about Khalilzad, former Unocal consultant with Karzai, currently liason to Afghanistan for the US govt., Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Cheney on and on and on. Security through Imperialism... that turned out great for Rome didn't it? Let's sprinkle in a lil fascism... that worked great for Germany and Italy didn't it? I guess as long as you're getting PAYED by the government and Cheney's Halliburton continues to get PAYED and Chalabi got PAYED $340,000 a month from us to spy on us... what the hell right? Hell we can just hit L. Paul Bremer up for the two billion or so he can't seem to account for. Absolutely disgusting is what this whole war on terror is. If we were safe, if they were doing anything besides lining their pockets I would be throwing roses at these whackos. Instead, we're still vulnerable as hell and talking up exploding coolers. Nonsense? You're damn straight it's nonsense.

Fahrenheit 9/11

Uhmmm Scrivener... just so that we're clear. According to President Bush he had heard about the first plane hitting the tower prior to entering that classroom. He had thought at that point and I quote, "There's one terrible pilot". He walked into that classroom knowing that at the very least everyone on that plane was dead accident or not, with a big smile on his face. You mention the fact that Moore glosses over facts but then you don't bother to mention that both Bush and Bath were grounded at the same time for missing medical examinations. This is during the time when nobody can account for the President's whereabouts and to this day nobody has corroborated anything. Mysteriously enough, just prior to this exam the military had instated drug screenings as part of their medical exams. Hmmm. This of course if rife speculation because well, the President never appeared for that exam. Why? Just coincidence that Bush and Bath have been friends since then? Maybe. Moore is asking you to question motives. Circumstantial evidence convicts many a killer. You say that the Bin Ladens were in serious danger? Do I give a damn about the Bin Ladens? Would any of us stack 1 million Bin Ladens against the three thousand people that died on that day? This is a country of laws. The Bin Ladens could have been protected here. Why not do it that way? Of course we could have questioned the hijackers families and the Bin Ladens in Saudi Arabia too (we have enough people there) but we weren't allowed to. Hmmm. Yes war sucks and of course Moore used footage of the carnage to stir emotion. It was no less cheap than Bush hiring actors to portray firefighters carrying a body out of the Trade Centers for a campaign ad. What there wasn't enough stock footage? You also glossed over the real crux of Moore's attack which is that nothing that we believed we were going in for actually materialized. The people put into power in Afghanistan were oil shills. Why not discuss that too Scrivener, I mean it is proven fact is it not? I don't mind people critiquing a movie but when their criticism is based on the lies and then none of the truths are included I have to respond. Propaganda is a two way street... just ask the poor shmucks that won't be able to reach into a cooler this weekend without wincing. I stay informed so this was a rehash and I'm gonna take a stab at it and say you're a conservative that saw this movie. There are a ton of us... me included. My apologies SC... I just had to respond to the critique, I didn't respond to the other politicized rhetoric from those that did not see the film. *Laughs*

Flat tax would be great. Robbing the treasury and using the US military to carry the money is not cool. You fail to see that several companies in this country are getting very rich off of these wars. You fail to see that the making of money is superceding the quest for justice. You fail to see that the soul of this nation and its righteous might used with reservation are now a fable of old. Do you know who the people in the PNAC are? Do you know what the PNAC is? Do you know that they have said for YEARS that America needed a Pearl Harbor event to ever exert an imperialism on the world while we have the power to do so? If you got more money back from the government then you gave SHAME ON YOU. You are worse than that Eldorado driving black, single mother in Harlem collecting welfare and wearing Gucci *snickers*. PAY LIKE THE REST OF US. If the government GAVE you money, you should lose your vote. You should surely be off the Republican voter roll... you must be a damn Democrat. After all only a filthy liberal Democrat would accept money from this government that they hadn't put in! What kind of an American are you? Don't you know your kids are going to be paying for that down the line. Great dad... nice work.
