If Bush were just another Quayle making stupid statements such as "how hard it is to put food on our families" *snickers* I would be forgiving. Night at the Movies: Bubba Ho-Tep

I enjoyed this movie a lot. I laughed through most of it because... well, it's funny. I am a fan of the Evil Dead movies... so when I saw this movie was about Elvis (my favorite singer... to have ever died taking a dump) and starred Bruce Campbell... WELL HELL! Ossie Davis a quality actor, actually brings some legitimacy to the whole thing with his very presence... I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. Great way to kill an evening... but prepare to have your tongue firmly planted in cheek... the creators of this obviously did. Tak

    CatWoman

Yeah I know they are doing the FF movie... that should be great. Dunno about the Silver Surfer... but I'd be up for that too! *Ponders how cool it would be to see the Herald of Galactus storyline played out* Catwoman looks horrific as far as the trailer is concerned. Halle Berry has the best rack in Hollywood (Swordfish) but I don't think she can save this clunker. I thought Michelle Pfeiffer was purrrrfect in Batman 2... she just aint got the goods to pull it off anymore. This Catwoman movie looks way too cartoonish... Halle should have stuck with Storm. Peace

    Battlecruiser: The Movie

I wasn't suggesting that SC make a movie. I was suggesting a cool story idea that I would be interested in writing. Obviously, if SC was presented with a book or a script that Hollywood wanted to make into a motion picture etc., he would just license the material and collect his cash. I didn't expect Derek to yell, "action" and direct the thing heheh. I thought the thread was just about "wouldn't it be cool" not hey Derek make this. *snickers* Thank you for the vote of confidence. I might write the first chapter and post it to the RP forum at some point... it ROCKS and starts the story with one hell of a sequence of events.

    Battlecruiser: The Movie

I think that the Battlecruiser Universe would make a fantastic setting for a movie or story. There are all of the elements of established sci-fi fare with the added elements of political intrigue that can be brought on by a semi-declared civil war. I have already considered writing a story about the Battlecruiser franchise. The problem for me is time. I don't have the time to write much of anything these days and when I do find time I am wanting to set it to a supernatural thriller I am currently writing (just for the hell of it.. it's a hobby not a profession) *laughs* I already have the story concept for a BC tale that I would write. Sorry, I don't do collaborations *snickers*. PREMISE: The story would surround the Galcom/Insurgent struggle, because I don't think you can explore the enemy beyond without understanding that there is an enemy within. The Gammulans would make an appearance and would be a factor but it would not be in a way that would be epic. They would be a plot device in this first story; they would be understood to be there, to be powerful but for now they are across the galaxy. The Insurgents are a vast and tangled web of outer world governments, corporate honchos and genuine honest to god philanthropists. The mixture is a witch's brew of greed, profiteering and freedom fighting. Once declared to be public enemy number one the Insurgents have bounced back from near collapse at the feet of Galcom's mighty military. For the past five years the Galcom brass have had a bigger fear to face than the Insurgents. It was back then that the reports started to come in that the Gammulan military had begun massive buildups and was expanding its own holdings within the universe. Knowing that at some point Gammula and Galcom would meet at a supposed middle and when that time came they would need to be ready, the focus has shifted. Insurgent strongholds have been left unmolested and able to rebuild while Galcom amasses a fleet and a military to stifle any Gammulan threat. Insurgent propagandists and plants within the military have aided the drumbeat of fear within Galcom focusing them on this threat by planting horror stories surrounding Gammulan methods within the media outlets held by their corporate members. Meanwhile on a planet far flung from Galcom HQ and at the edge of Insurgent held space a strange discovery has been made. The Insurgents keenly aware that their forces are markedly outnumbered have pursued a way to even the odds and on this planet they believe that they have found the answer. (NO IT IS NOT A SUPERWEAPON ONE SHOT END THE UNIVERSE DEAL!) Word of strange trading missions to the planet are beginning to spread and spies within the Insurgent organization and within the trading guilds have been reporting it back to Galcom, for a hefty price. Now at the highest levels of the Galcom military even out of the reach of the Insurgent's seemingly limitedless resources there is talk and speculation. What is it that the Insurgents are working on? Why have they chosen a simple farming planet on which to work on it? Galcom dispatches a ship to find the answers. When a privateer returns the ship's log buoy to Galcom the mysteries only deepen. END PREMISE Obviously there is some backstory on the BC Universe but what makes it so interesting to me is that there is so much room for speculation and imagination, there is so much about it to be fleshed. This type of story may not be everybody's cup of tea but I always enjoy a good dialogue driven plot. This story full of subterfuge, battle (in space and planetside) coupled with the Battlecruiser Universe... hell it's a homerun (if I do say so myself heheh). Ofcourse, Derek would likely sue me for manhandling his intellectual material... woe is me! [ 06-02-2004, 02:15 PM: Message edited by: Takvah ]

    MP Fleet Action Tournament

You had the SC, you really had him. He was all happy and whatnot thinking, hey let me help this guy out by updating a webpage with info surrounding in game events. And then, what happened? Now it's basically a dead deal. Here's my thoughts on the matter. You can take them or leave them and I might start my own thread about my terminally simple idea for multiplayer interaction but I'm going to toss this out here. When I played Starfleet Academy it was just like this game in that the multiplayer was not something that catered to FPS type scoring. What we ended up doing was creating scenarios in an RP format and then playing them out in the game. What the hell do I mean? Well, you would take the map and you would say... OK X Fleet controls all of (INSERT MULTIPLAYER SECTOR HERE)and Y Fleet controls all of (INSERT SURROUNDING MULTIPLAYER SECTOR HERE). Once you had divided up the multiplayer universe between the fleets(if you have too many fleets make it planets) you start the storyline. You would then assign resource points to ships and then allocate total resource points to fleets that they spend to purchase their fleets. Obviously big fleets would have to put some of their people in JUNK ships or have many smaller craft. This would have to be looked at but also it would help promote parity between the fleets in that if I can fly an MK3 with fleet X and a POS with fleet Y it might benefit me to join fleet X... evening competiton a bit. Anyway, so let's say you have a forum thread going that is talking about Prime Fleet launching an attack on a Gammulan sector... the players would Roleplay the interactions in a kind of "Risk" environment with a grid on a webpage (no maps that's SC's property and we don't want people getting a freebie) showing who owns what. Now, X Fleet can challenge Y fleet. If they have to cross through Z fleets territory to do it, they must get permission or fight them. Perhaps they will make an alliance and attack the sector together.... who knows that's the RP part of it for the ambassadors and the leaders to argue. You would have to make a time table. So let's say Fleet X declares war on Fleet Y, the actual tournament matches would have to be held within say 72 hours with the fleets being represented by those players available for their side. The wars would then be fought in stages. First space, where all enemies or all defenders would have to either be defeated or retreating and then onto the home planet's surface where you would have to destroy a few command facilities in three cities chosen as "bases" by the defenders, (this portion depends completely on viability in game). I haven't really tried the planetary aspects since the patch. If your fleet is defeated you lose your sector of space. If you only controlled that one sector you are eliminated from the tournament. If you are the attacker and you are defeated, you may only defend against the people you attacked with half as many ships as you attacked them with, so long as they launch an immediate counter attack. Counter attacks must be declared within 24 hours of defeating a hostile force. Ofcourse the rules and what I am saying are becoming more complex and counter to this thread but basically ONE LIFE per phase of the attack. You die, you LOG OFF until the planetary phase. You die during the planetary phase you log off. It might be that the space phase and the planetary phase have to be fought on seperate nights or as seperate games. The point is that there are much simpler ways to handle tournaments than the way that was described. Even this might be a bit complex. However, this way enables people to engage in diplomacy, trade etc. in the RP environment and then conflict in the game environment. Of course RP interactions can also be played out on the server with ambassadors meeting in game etc. The deal is this... we called our tournament the KISS tournament. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. Anyway just a thought. Likely this made no sense I got about ohh... NO SLEEP LAST NIGHT and I'm dead tired right now. You have my sincerest apologies. Did Richard Biggs pass away?

It has been emailed to me by a few people that Richard Biggs the actor that played the beloved Dr. Franklin on Babylon 5 has passed away. The email speculates as to how he passed away (nothing nefarious) and I don't want to get into speculation here. I was just wondering if any of you had heard or saw anything. Bab5 was a great series and Dr. Franklin/Biggs was a big part of it. He was by far the most rational of the whole cast of characters. I cannot log into the Firstones.com site, seems they have exceeded their bandwidth which makes me wonder if it isn't true. I hope it isn't. He's a quality actor and a big part of the Bab5 cast... wouldn't be the same without him if they ever did anything with the series. I appreciate the reply if anybody has heard.

    Abuse at Abu Ghraib Prison

Yes and we can all be so proud to now appear before the world as depraved and ridiculous as those we seek to humiliate. Most of the prisoners in Abu Ghraib had nothing to do with RPG attacks on Humvees or anything of the like. Most of the people in that prison were there because of Iraqi on Iraqi crimes such as burglary, looting and taking an extra water ration etc. "There were gross differences, Taguba said, between the actual number of prisoners on hand and the number officially recorded. A lack of proper screening also meant that many innocent Iraqis were wrongly being detainedÔÇöindefinitely, it seemed, in some cases. The Taguba study noted that more than sixty per cent of the civilian inmates at Abu Ghraib were deemed not to be a threat to society, which should have enabled them to be released. KarpinskiÔÇÖs defense, Taguba said, was that her superior officers ÔÇ£routinelyÔÇØ rejected her recommendations regarding the release of such prisoners." and further... The mistreatment at Abu Ghraib may have done little to further American intelligence, however. Willie J. Rowell, who served for thirty-six years as a C.I.D. agent, told me that the use of force or humiliation with prisoners is invariably counterproductive. ÔÇ£TheyÔÇÖll tell you what you want to hear, truth or no truth,ÔÇØ Rowell said. ÔÇ£ÔÇÿYou can flog me until I tell you what I know you want me to say.ÔÇÖ You donÔÇÖt get righteous information.ÔÇØ New Yorker article on Abu Ghraib I do tip my hat to you though Shingen. Real dramatic take. We KILL the guys that do the kind of stuff you are talking about or they get away from our inept hands and do it again, you know it and I know it. If we want to be fair let's just say, these guys (our troops) have been there for over a year, they're being made to be jailers and police and frankly they're WARRIORS. "Blowing off steam," is a concept too stupid for words, coming from imbeciles like Rush Limbaugh, who I would love to see in a prison situation with a guy named Bubba who just so happens to also need to blow off some steam. Unfortunately Rush will not see the justice he craves for doper FM types come down the pyke for him. We keep the Iraqis hungry and thirsty so that they don't think of much else. We will rebuild their country so that we can make money at it, when they want to rebuild their country and keep their money. Bush embodies ambition and then expects that nobody in Iraq has any... that's why his puppet regime isn't going to work there any more than it has worked in Afghanistan. If we were truly about liberation, our troops would be on bases in Iraq, out of the cities. The police would be trained and in place, not looking to kill us as they are now. Let's face it... from the top down this action had less planning than a church picnic.

    UC 2.00.00 Patch Released

Installed but for some reason the ucmp executable works but the uc executable does not. Now I put this game aside so maybe I'm an idiot and forgot something but it is something I am observing right now. I can't wait to try the new servers! Oh dammit forgot to add that I got the patch from 3D gamers. Sorry.

    UC 1.01.00 Patch Status

I stepped away from the game for a bit when the new patch was announced deciding that I would wait for the polish to be applied to the product. I like UC as it is but I really wanted to do missions etc., with the patch's upgrades. I'm a guy that will play through the campaigns ONCE so I might as well do it in style *snickers*. Obviously, seeing these new screens and reading about what is coming with the patch I am totally psyched about retaking my captain's chair and I am really happy that I get to play MOST of the campaign missions in the "enhanced" environments. Couple that with the enhancements to multiplayer that will allow me to spank some of my verbal sparring partners on these forums and I'm elated! *Begins writing his Death List* (Kill Bill reference). Nice work Derek, I can't wait for the patch to come out.

    9/11 Hearings

This administration won't get away with drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Even with the halfwit's brother being the Governor (and I really don't mind Jeb he's the smarter Bush) it would be political suicide in this state to drill there. Of course Jaguar if you include EVERY available source of oil in the territorial US you might get a year or two out of the ground... so? THE GLOBAL SUPPLY HAS LESS THAN 50 YEARS and that is an optimistic average that isn't taking into account other nations becoming more industrialized. Oh and by the way Bush has proven he can't find oil... he's bankrupted several oil companies he has run. As for the 9/11 Commission the funniest thing is that Cheney and Bush are going into the hearing together. What the hell is that? The great WAR TIME PRESIDENT needs Uncle Dick to go in with him and hold his hand before the Commission? Man, I can't believe that anybody can have any respect for this guy when it is quite obvious his subordinates don't. Hell Cheney was in a secure bunker long before Bush was on 9/11... that speaks volumes. I would just like to hear how people can justify THEIR President having to go into this thing with Cheney... another bad idea that is going to blow up in their faces.. just like Iraq and this latest PDB release. Where's G.W. anyway? Oh yeah he's on "vacation". *Snickers* Bush and Cheney testify

    Unreal Tournament 2004

UT2004 a definite must buy for any FPS fan... but even if you just want to see exquisite level design and listen to a rocking soundtrack with over 60 tracks (they put all the music from previous Unreal games in this one along with new stuff) this game is worth the price of admission. Add to that the voice chat over a headset and you have bar none the best twitch shooter to come down the road in a long time. Doom? Half Life 2? Painkiller? (too bad for Painkiller bad timing m'thinks with them releasing it this week). Those games can take their sweet time coming out, I have plenty of game here to last me a while. If you dig shooters this is a MUST HAVE for the collection. And yes Tribes Vengeance looks good... it'll be nice to don the armor again. Cheers!

    9/11 Hearings

Jaguar this is becoming a habit but again your estimate is off as usual.. personal attack.. no... fact yes. ANWR IS NOT THE ANSWER Please stop misinforming people like Limbaugh or the rest of the right wing nuts I used to support. I evolved please do the same. Takvah
  18. Well Jaguar, I am sorry you took it that way. Obviously, politics being a heated area of debate and you being so willing to use emoticons and the word "moron" to describe people adverse to your ideology and to more importantly belittle them, I thought you'd be more thickly skinned. I guess that isn't so. I don't agree with the delete but I suppose you have the power to do it. So, that being the case I suppose I have to accept it. I would not waste the SC's time with this kind of garbage but it is interesting that ... "Thanks for playing," or asking you to do some reasearch on what you post even if saying it with the "we're not sheeple" addition, nets a delete. You attempted to blast me as not doing research Jaguar... you were rude... go back and look. Politics gets hot it is a taboo subject and I hope that you will indulge us with a less irreverant style of debate if you will sanction others for something far tamer. Cheers. 19. I suppose you have never been in a situation where you are resigning from a position and while you might have issues with your boss etc., you are still cordial and polite. I don't think that Clarke in any way makes a point in his resignation letter of saying anything OTHER THAN, you acted well on September 11th. This is ofcourse a point I would take issue with since one, the President was reading a book about a goat and two the government seemed much more concerned about protecting Dick Cheney than they did G.W. Bush. In any case I think that Clarke did a great job during his testimony. Whoever watched that with a critical eye or with a favorable slant saw one thing... THE MAN IS GENUINE. Our government was informed by the former administration of the threat. Our government began talks with the Taliban post Clinton that included giving them $43 million in aid when Clinton and most of the rest of the world had cut them off and were freezing them out. Meanwhile Ashcroft is taking private planes prior to 9/11... (all of them were but he was called out because he is basically the first Atty. General ever to really do this),when asked why they say because of a "perceived threat", so who knew what when and if it was "overseas" where they thought attacks would be why was Johnny flying on the govt. dime in the states? I don't know I could sit here and praddle on forever about why I think the ball was dropped, it isn't going to change entrenched minds. I suppose I can just be happy that mine was changed. Regardless, whatever you want to do to spin the Clarke book, letters, etc., there is a feeling people get in their gut when they see a man speak. This guy stole the show yesterday, was the first man to step up and say "we failed" (meaning the govt. and even HIMSELF) and apologized for it and no matter what you do to paint him into a corner the fact remains he scored and scored big. Is it because he's a great liar? I don't think so and I don't think the majority of people that watched him and the families of victims that EMBRACED him thought so. Later
  20. My god I am watching 60 Minutes tonight and I am in shock. Any indictment I make against G.W. is mild in comparison to this INSIDER'S take. "I think he has done a terrible job in regard to terrorism"... priceless. As for the unemployment matter... WAKE UP. Perception isn't an AVERAGE... perception is this fact, DURING THAT BASTARD CLINTON'S TERM OF SERVICE THE UNEMPLOYMENT WENT DOWN.. ALL YEARS... NOT ONE, NOT TWO... EIGHT. Jesus Christ... I have just about had enough of you idiots LYING. Wake the hell up and be CRITICAL of failure. I am a republican but I WILL NOT SELL MY SOUL FOR THE PARTY. Thank you.

    Multiplayer patch status

Noticed a lot of radar flicker with player targets making it unwieldy to just hi-light their "blip". I did not have that kind of problem with prior patches. There is no more text appearing at the top of the screen while chatting unless it is my own. So if I chat the text appears at the top of the screen as it always has, if someone else says something you won't know it unless the chat window is open. I keep the chat window open but notice that the twelve lines (I believe thats the maximum line count visible w/o scrolling) end up encroaching on a good portion of the screen's real estate. I would suggest cutting down the number of messages displayed or removing the black box. The black box allows you to easily read the text so a reduction in the number of lines visible without a scroll should be reduced to say... 9. I'm going to go in and see if I can recreate a CTD I got coming out of a cloak. Will keep you aprised. Tak
  22. ROFLMAO... how much was spent on the Kenneth Star inquisition? I was all for it at the time hoping they would get Clinton BUT THEY DIDN'T? Why? Why didn't they get Susan McDougal or anyone else? Oh yeah, I guess because it's not against the law to cheat on your wife. Stop talking out of Uranus *snickers*. I love guys that bring up Clinton when the deal is BUSH. The buck stops with BUSH end of story. I'm not willing to give him any room even if I am a Republican. THE GUY IS THE COMMANDER AND CHIEF... he failed to protect us and I believe he was totally out of the loop on 9/11. The video timeline of what he was doing while those buildings burned SHOWS THAT. Hey when the trade centers in my hometown of NYC were burning I was glued to the TV begging for information... our President was sitting in a 2nd grade classroom reading a book about a GOAT. Simply brilliant. Would any of you have been sitting there reading a book about GOATS at the time YOU KNEW those buildings were burning? Peace out
  23. See I can take a comment like that... knowing that in essence it is words. Lord knows my balls dropped when I realized what it was to think critically as opposed to follow the leader. So I can't take seriously a comment like this. You can't claim to be a critical thinker and accept that Cheney won't divulge what he met energy companies about, why Bush commits only an hour to the 9/11 Commission and why WMDs and links to Al-Qaeda are non existent. I mean you'd have to be mildly retarded or extremely gullable to just accept this fascist rhetoric right.... right.... guys? *Throws up hands*
