Oh yes yes! Ported to the Amiga! yep yep yep yep yep! I am one of those out there that knows that the Amiga, even today, is STILL far superior (hardware wise) that any PC made. Too bad it went the way it did. I still have two of my power boxes SC, one for any video work I do and the other for coding. I can write code WITHOUT having to deal with all the driver issues etc etc etc PC's have - AND while coding, play 2 of my favorites games while browsing the internet... ALL at the same time (real multi-tasking )!!! Then when I get a base program/Code running, come over to the PC with the code and start convuluting it with PC drivers and Windows drivers crap. And for those out there that are anti-Amiga.. well all I have to say is " KISS MY
  2. Hi all: Anyone else think capturing stations is just way to easy? Step 1: Ready HJ. Step2: Save game, Step 3: Engage Cloak, Step 4: Move up to 0.00 distance of station, Step 5: blast away with 100% main gun power no PTA's until station armor reaches ~1200 points. Step 5: Lower gun power to 10%, repeat blasting until station goes into SOS. Step 6: Disengage cloak, hop aboard your brand new station! Well I have some ideas on how to change all that and hopefully no major work for SC! I assume situations occur where marines are still deployed in space for combat (although come to think about it, I have not seen that in UC yet.. only in my BCMG version). Anyhow, what about this: How about instead of just capturing the station as we do, we have to deploy marines into space to actually board and recover the station for us BEFORE the station can recover enough points to re-engage point defenses?? Example: We blast the station defenses down to say 2% armor which brings all station defenses offline. At this point the station deploys marines as its remaining defense against being boarded. We do the same with orders to our marines to capture the station. While this is happening we have to wait until the marines tell us they are ready to board by radio message. When they do, we have to hit the station again to bring armor/damage to 1% so the station goes into SOS. At this point any of our marines that lived and made it to the point of being able to board the actual station, can now do so thus taking over the station for us! Once our marines board the station becomes ours... HOWEVER.. Let's say our marines LOOSE the battle to the station.. well we in our battlecruiser better be damn ready to HJ outta there cause while the marines are fighting to get to the station and you are waiting for word to hit the station to force it to go into SOS, the station damage repair crews are doing just that.. trying to get the station defenses back online while you are sitting there decloaked at point blank range! Should your marines fail in thier mission.. you might hear your crew say something like "NOW might be a good time to leave, Sir!" SC? Anyone else?
  3. Hi: To answer the first, yes I installed the main V2.0 patch first! ;-) And yes I installed all patched from the UC directory as well. No luck with the CTD's but I have been watching things very closely while playing. As mentioned, I can play fine until I start moving around screens. Once that happens within a short period the game will just drop out. Street: You are not crazy! Identical situation for me as well! I thought that my system just corrupted the save the first time. BUT, like you, I cannot remember for sure whether I used the quick save at all in that one (it has happened more than once but I never thought about the QS being the problem sooooo). I too am going to insure I play a game without using quicksave for testing. I sometimes use quicksave as well just before heading in to try to take out a station but not always. And I had a game I had played for days that suddenly showed negative experience points and would CTD when I tried to dock. I have yet to have a career that makes it more than 10 hours play time (game time) so hopefully we can help SC help us on these. SC: I have an idea for you on game play itself.. gonna post in forum for that.. I think taking out stations is WAY to easy and I have an idea for balance that would give us more of a challenge yet with some effort still allow us to get the satisfaction of capturing the station - AND I don't think it would take any major changes in your game engine. I will post in the right forum on this.. let me know what you think.
  4. Hi all: Asking in case I missed something.. I am having a problem where UC simply and suddenly just drops to desktop period. No reason, no nothing.. it just suddenly drops out. I am running a CLEAN install of WinXP with all the latest service packs, ALL drivers are current, all mobo updates (if any) are installed, and am running the latest V2.00.10 service pack for UC. I have noticed this: After a short period of clicking through different screens (ie logistics, tactical etc) some of the graphics (especially for the jump points that look like long tubes) get graphic artifacts. If I do nothing after loading a game, this does not happen. Only after I have gone to other game screens and back. This, to me, would indicate something is happening to the graphics and it is getting corrupted. Question is, any ideas on what I can try? I have done everything I can think of and then some including, as mentioned, a full clean install of the machine, updates and the game. BTW, my copy of BCM gold runs perfectly without any problems. My profile is current.
  5. Hi all: Anyone else having problems downloading the latest update? Selecting the link in my profile simply gives me a file not found error. Thanks *UPDATE* Ok just got the file to download but had to do it by right clicking and selecting 'Save As...' in the menu from the link. But I now know it is a problem on this end and perhaps someone can help on this as it only happens on this site... Apparently my daughter used my system yesterday (which is supposed to be off-limits ahem). Something got installed it now appears that does not show as a virus or other problem. BUT what is seems to be doing is trying to re-direct some of Internet Explorers links when it encounters an error or some other subtle thing.. Each time I tried to download from here, IE gave me the 'file not found' error and opened a page at www.errorplace.com. From what I can see there is nothing there and viewing the source shows nothing going on at that URL. BUT, no matter what I do, I cannot seem to get rid of this re-direction whatever it is. I have manually scanned the registry, manually searched for new files on my system that should not be there, tried anti-virus software, ad-aware software and other things and yet still it does this. Anyone have any ideas on this one? I JUST cleaned out and re-installed my Windows XP pro this past weekend and I really do not feel like doing it again this quick. Any suggestions? 6. Derek: In BCMG it is in space. I will usually move my alter ego to a fighter and take off myself, do some space fighting against other ships or the ODS stations. Many times I then get the alert for intruders on the BC. But everytime I return I cannot get back onboard because launch control has been automatically shut down. Ejecting and trying to board does not work nor does giving the BC a tow command. Last night I tried having everything move to a planet to see if I can accomplish it planetfall but still no go. As long as launch control is off, I cannot board. Thus my suggestion about having it turn back on once the intruder threat is cleared etc..
  7. Hi Derek, I tried that in BCMG and it shows a message that says something like: Eject and Self-Destruct? Y/N Thus I loose the fighter... But I did it anyway and instead of ending up in space, I died - both times I tried it. I have not yet played UC long enough to see if this same situation occurs now that I think about it... Perhaps we should move this threat to BCMG for now until I do eh! Thanks...
  8. Greets: I just ran into a problem and a search of the forums did not help in this case... Now that my main crew has reached decent AI levels I have run into a problem that I have not been able to figure out a way out of.. I left my BC in space in a fighter. After a while I needed to return to reload missiles but found that I could not dock because one of the officers turned OFF the power allowing me to land... Although the intruders that triggered this were now dead, he did not turn it back on!! So, how do I get back aboard?? I thought maybe I could exit the fighter and float over and enter the BC but that does not work as I can only eject and die and loose the fighter... Anyone have an idea on this one?? * Derek, I know how busy you are but am wondering if you take suggestions? If it is not in the game now, how do you feel about giving the crew the ability to turn on what they turned off once a threat is neutralized? Thanks in advance..
