In fact this can be done with the right kit , UC is very DX complient and if you know enough about direct X the rest is clear. if you don't it probably best to leave it alone. oh and this I would guess is not supported in any way what so ever.

I could have sworn way back when I was reading some related documentation it siad somthing about hyperspace doing strange stuff like going through planets and things . The documentation was quite spacific on the cause of such things. cant quite remember what the document was called as I am drunk! it was somthing like mgnaul , any I understand that in hyperspace things are not as they appear to be, There are good resons for this and having a degree in spacecraft dynamics I sould be able to tell you why, but like i said I have just got back from town it's late and I am drunk.

I have not been here for a while, I thought some time ago I saw a post saying you where no longer patching or developing universal combat as your efforts where going into other things HTL etc. I guess I read this wrong, I thought patch 2.00.20 was going to be it, I have not been in here for a while so I was very surprised to find 27 had been released, fantasic work as always, I just thought I would say thank you for your comitment to this software. Things like this are very rare for most games, Then again I find most games to shallow to care

I know a major overhaul of the pc hardware is now due, with the xmas sale on I hope to pick up a few things at better prices, I just have to decide on one of the intel or amd paths, A new MB and graphics cardwill be a must, I hear you on the ucAWA which I will be buying as soon as it's available to me, I should have the upgrades buy the end of the week so everyting will be in place for the release of ucAWA when it is released, Thats asuming the excitment of playing it on this rig does not cause me to bust. Only other thing I am looking into is joining a fleet but not sure if I am ready for it yet, I have the time and the rig but have only been playing UC for a year or so, however I guess my BC and BC300ad time might help

Oh happy happy joy joy, I got an optima DLP projection system for Xmass which gives a pin sharp image from my computer on a 7 foot high projection screen, I set it up and plonked a chair in front of it, I then ran up UC and dimed the lights, What can I say but WOW , It really gives that on the bridge feel I also run two laptops by the command chair awsome just like having your own bridge dedicated to UC I have my own games room for this and am modifying it as I go along but boy dose it look good. I just thought I would share that with you all, I may post pics when it finished, Just one thing bothering my is wether I might be taking the game too far just added logitec laser mouse.

I have an x45 works fine for me although I am about to stop using it in UC as a lot of people here think mouse is the way for this game to be controled so I thought I would give it ago. I have to say though I never had any hassle with the X45 the throttle dose reqire you to press 9 as in a post here on this thread and then what happens is the throttle controls how much % of the 9 you get , so dont be serprised if you start out and find the throttle does not work when you push it forward as 100 percent of nothing is still nothing , its all in the manual but I did miss this at first.

beter than that I thought as I had my evill playful head on I got in a shuttle , used tacops to get a tow on it , Then did a panet fall, then while very high up I turn off the tracor beem, intersting very intresting now where is resnig

OK this is NOT important, I was messing arround with mine drones and deployment , I was in a position where I had sc3 fully loaded and hanging around the planet I needed to recover oc1 from the planet so I used the tow comand and then return to base. sc3 went to oc1 and got tractor on it, I gave it the RTB comand which it did at the point it got to the CC it doked and left oc1 floating out sid ethe CC, I could not locate oc1 on radar ( being a ground unit that found it self in space not surprising ) so i wonderd how to recover it , I could tractor it with the cc but thet will not recover it, this was an experiment so yes i didi leave the CC and space walk over to the OC and attempted to get in I will leave what happened too your imagination ( ie if you wqant to know try it ) thats what I love about this game EVERTHING. So am i right do oc's have no radar return in space ?

What happend was my cdrom started taking the cd into the drive when i had not got the cd in place and it scratched/scored it very badly, any way I had heard you could get thsi sort of thing to work by polishing the cd , well i pressed a bit to hard and that was the end of that. by the way on the CD in a micorwave thing, the fractals look very good however I found some time ago that if you but the cd in a bowl of water fist you can nuke it for longer and get even better paterns, ther is a web site out there some place of pictures of this but it was a long time ago I looked at it , lots of fun though. I get vast amounts of solaris CD's sent to me so I use them.

A discovery I have made , I searched for this but did not find it so thought I would post it incase it is useful to know. After a fresh install of windows I confed my screen res to 1280X1024 and installed Uc , I found on a lot of screens the text was out side of boxes and in the wrong place. at first I thought this was the screen config and set out to work out what it was, It turns out that in XP when you open the advanced properties there is a setting called DPI , it can be set at teh default 96 or 120 , I had set this to 120 to make the text clear on the windows desktop, I now know it also makes a mess of the fonts in some programs, I set it back to the default and the text in the game is as it should be.

Thanks , all done brand new install of Win XP with sp2 after a format of the hard drive so it is all nice, fast and clean. I was going to wait untill HTL came out but just could not do it the need to play was to much . filled in new registration should all be done now filling in the system details made me think I may need to upgrade my system soon . I noticed a few text alignment problems which apear to be driven by the screen res I have set, also it is very dark when I planet fall in a craft, but I am sure I remember all this from past threads of the G4 cards so a quick search will sort me out there. On a very upbeat note I forgot to mention, I had a hard time getting the game again from the local shop ( game ) and they where telling me that there has been a lot of intrest in the game of late they had 10 copies in on friday morning and there where three when I bought it at ten today. I also had a few friends at work moaning that XBTF was a bit repetative and lacked depth , they have now been converted to the ways of UC I love this game always have , I still have the very first BC cdrom and manual. I have always thought as a project this was an incredible undertaking, I take my hat off to you. I love the new patch features. keep up the fantastic work.

Having just read my own post I find it is not very clear and could have used a spellchecker, I do not apear to be able to edit it mind it has been a while since I posted here. any way to clarify I broke my UC cdrom , I bought another one, should I have registered that in my old profile, to late now as i have done this just wondered if that was the right thing to do. I decided on a full system rebuild as it was about due so I have reinstalled the OS and updated, now I am just going to reinstall UC and the 2 patches so I no longer need to know if it would have worked with a cdrom that would have had a different Reg number then the origanal it wasz installed from.

I had UC and was playing for a while when I broke the CD, In it self that was bad enough however I scoured the shops and was unable to obtain another copy, it now a month on and I went into game thismorning and there where three copies on the shelf , oh the relief I grabbed a copy it was under offer 19 pounds sterling or 2 games for 30 quid, fantastic bought it and got home. The question is having done that should I uninstall the old UC and reinstall this new one? also should I register this version as the old version is defunct now or should I use a new login ? I like the colour pictures of the crew in BCG now there green screens in UC, I think unless I missed some thing, I am still learning and the learning curve is a steep one, which is always a good thing.
