Hello all. Sorry about being inactive as of late. I'm at college and I'm trying to balance my life out. I'd still like to be a part of TDH but you should probably take away my wing leader status and give it to someone more active than myself. I'll still be around and I'll participate to the best of my abilities Maybe I'll test out this new ethernet connection using MP... The college swears this is an ethernet but its feeling more like a 56k so we'll see

just got back from a week vacation my RP posts will resume shortly

Sorry, my cryo chamber malfunctioned. I'm always around the forums... and pretty soon I'll be back at college with a better internet connection so I can see how MP works out.

I'll write up another long post soon Sorry for the delay, I've been very busy as of late.

On a serious note, I've never "exploited" this "bug" in MP. There isn't any fun in cheating. I've only used it in SP to practice fighting against extreme odds... and to get very cool screen shots Note: I've also been able to exploit the C&C to have an enemy MRT tow me back to base(Pixan). The MRT was blown up upon exiting hyperspace. I can also exploit C&C to cause enemy missiles to lose their lock and fly blindly through space. Target missile, press Esc, press F1, press Esc, press Halt Key(F7?). I wasn't able to make the enemy missile attack the ship it was launched from, although I tried. I also tried targeting friendly missiles, pressed Esc, pressed F1 to have the missile "escort" me. It doesn't make impact, but it flys around your CC, a little too close for comfort if you ask me. Just trying to help SC & friends sort out the bugs.

I have a game in UC SP where I am a Ter/Rai Commander of a Starwarrior. I have 97k EP and I've been able to order friendlies(Ass/Cri/Rai) around for some time. Yesterday while attacking GALCOM HQ I realized that by targeting GALCOM HQ, pressing "Esc"(brings up command options) and then "F1"(escort me command) I could gain control over the starstation. Note: the station wouldn't consider me to be a "friendly" in the sense that it would allow me to dock. For example, if I took my ship within range, it would still destroy me. BUT, after pressing Esc + F1 I did have access to the enemy station's launch control. I launched 2 Megarons, 2 Battlecruiser Mk1s, 2 Battlecruiser Mk2's, 2 Battlecruiser Mk3's, 2 Sentry's, 2 Solnar's, and 25 fighters. I launched almost every ship within GALCOM HQ with orders to attack me. I even launched all the transport ships just for the hell of it. In the end, I collected lots of cargo pods and gained thousands of experiance points. Very intense fighting. I also felt pretty guilty... Did I take advantage of a loophole? Are raiders supposed to be able to launch ships from enemy stations? I also realized that I can launch fighters/shuttles from enemy carriers using the same method as described above. This doesn't seem very fair... (I searched beforehand for topics relating to this subject but didn't find any. If this has been discussed before, I'll promptly delete this thread)

Universal Combat: After Action Reports:
Ockham replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Discussions
Here's a fun story from UC SP I can't remember the details exactly because this happened last night and I was pretty drunk(ok, very drunk), but it was by far the most exciting UC experiance I've ever had. (Keep in mind I'm a raider flying a Starwarrior) Quick summary: I notice 2 carriers and 1 heavy cruiser are headed my way via hyperspace. I could easily jump away and escape but I figure, what the heck, I'm drunk and I want to rumble. I can handle this... I decide not to use missiles and to just take down the carriers with my main guns(fun but not smart). I killed'em... but wasted lots of time. While I was showing off and blasting away at the carriers I didn't pay attention to my radar... Suddenly 3 red dots turned into 7 red dots. Very much alarmed I scanned my radar for friendlies. I recruited the help of a Syr/Ass Starwarrior, 2 Mul/Rai S-Fighter, and a couple other scummy criminals. I'm a Raider with Fleet C&C. It's good to have friends in low places. So, good news is that I get backup ASAP. Bad news is that my new backup attracted even more unwanted attention. 7 red dots quickly turned into about 12-15(red dots ALL over my radar). Damn that enemy space station... So, my computer starts to get bogged down, the EMD static is getting on my nerves, and just then my shields hit 0% No critical system failures but damage all over the place... Three marines got radiated, ick. I also realize there are 6 intruders on board as well. And did I hear correctly that something got destroyed??? I bring up my Tactical display to determain what got blown away... Oh no... My #1Cargo Bay is...GONE!!! I could write an entire narrative on how pissed I was when I lost my entire cargo hold. All my nutripacks(all 1500 of them lol), all my pirated goods, all my repair kits... history. Millions of credits lost... And I'm a raider for crying out loud! The rest of the fight was spent in a furious rage. I just remember lots of explosions, lots of red dots and lots of gray dots. Well... in the end when all was said and done only two ships remained. My Starwarrior and the original Syrion/Assasin in his Starwarrior that I recruited earlier. My AE was at 3hp and almost everyone on the bridge got ripped apart and was at 50% hp or less. The medical officer stayed on duty throughout the fight and throughout the aftermath with 43hp and 75FF(she deserves a medal). As for the Syrion Assasin, I gave him the order to RTB. I survived... and it was fun, but did they have to target and destroy my cargo hold?!? *groan* -
[RP] 04:52 April 17, 3030 UCV- RESOLUTE Tramis, Alpha Centuri System Commander, I must protest! whined chief engineer Kendricks as he watched smoke drift up and into the bridges central ventilation system. Smoking isnt allowed on the bridge! The smoke travels up into the air ducts and that same air we use for our air conditioning system also feeds into our circuitry cooling system. I spent over two hours installing and rigging up that Empirian auto-pilot system to work with our Terran navigations computer and and an. Commander Ockham removed the lit cigar from his lips and exhaled. He rubbed his temples to try and sooth his pulsating headache. God, what is he complaining about now thought Ockham to himself. The auto-pilot system? Ugh, why is he worrying about fixing something I never even use. This guy is killing me. Kendricks continued in a high pitched mater-of-fact tone, and if you spew cigar smoke into fragile tech like that cheap Empirian auto-pilot system, there is a significant possibility it will fail or behave unpredictably! I cant be expected to Ockham calmly returned his cigar to the ash tray next to the arm rest of his captains chair and stood up. He then retrieved a small steel rod from beneath his chair and a combat knife he kept on his belt. Kendricks stopped talking, took a couple steps backwards and watched the Commander nervously. With a quick stabbing motion Ockham used the rod and knife to brace his navigational flight stick in its current position. Auto-pilot engaged Ockham sarcastically snarled back at Kendricks. I need to use the head. Tommy, youre in charge. Aye Skip! Tommy shouted from across the bridge. Paul Resnig the combat officer smiled and laughed to himself as he watched the Captain walk off the bridge. He had seen the ol rod and knife auto-pilot trick a hundred times before but it never seemed to get old. Resnig quickly went back to cleaning his wrist laser and monitoring his company of marines on the PERSCAN computer. Man this new chief engineer is a real prick, Paul thought to himself. Has it been over 48 hours since I last slept? wondered Ockham as he washed his face in front of the mirror within one of the ships nicer washrooms. Meanwhile on the bridge. So what do you think Moran? asked the ships flight officer Tommy Brooks. About what? replied the ships tactical officer Kara Moran. About why weve been shadowing this merc ship from Tau Ceti to Alpha Majora and back again?" Kendricks could be heard muttering under his breath as he made adjustments to the ships systems from his engineering terminal. Obsolete second generation bootleg system software just not compatible and the Captain expects the Drodian hardware to connect to the Empirian peripheral systems and those systems to be able to communicate with our Terran software and when the entire house of cards falls apart its Kendricks this and Kendricks that Tommy continued his conversation and replied, Ya, this isnt like the Captain at all. First of all, Ive never seen the Captain follow a ship for this long without attacking, period. Weve been through Drodian space, Empirian space and now it looks like were headed into the Sol system. Weve kept our profile low, our radar passive and our radios silent for days now. This is some serious cloak and dagger covert op stuff. And where the hell did the Captain learn how to shadow a ship this well? Dont worry yourself Brooks, Moran replied calmly. Enjoy the change of pace. Id enjoy things a whole lot more if I could see how were going to profit from this, said Tommy with a slight hint of sarcasm. Kendricks ceased his muttering as he heard the Captain stagger back onto the bridge. So how about it Capn? asked Tommy as he watched Ockham sit down in his chair. We gonna raid this merc ship or follow it to death? Ockham relaxed in his chair and relit his cigar. Kendricks poked his head up from his computer terminal as if about to say something, paused and sunk back into his chair. Ok, heres the story. Its not a merc ship, replied Ockham. Its a Terran Raider ship. As Ockham let out another puff of illegal tobacco smoke everyone on the bridge suddenly seemed very interested in how the Captain was going to justify secretly following a fellow raider like this for days on end. Dont worry, Ockham said reassuringly, were not going to steal any kills, or raid this guys cargo. The ship is called the UCV  BLACKBURN and the Commander goes by the name of Alvin Hovis. Hovis is applying for membership in The Devils Hand. Oh, so were doing a background check and a little recon on Hovis for Fleet Commander Shingen before he is accepted? asked Kara Moran. Yes and No, replied Ockham as he removed the rod and knife from his flight stick and assumed control of the ship. Hovis isnt going to be joining The Devils Hand. Hovis is a piece of sh#t. The only reason people consider him a raider is because hes unemployed at the moment and attacks cargo ships to make enough credits to pay the rent, so to speak. Hes a career mercenary and a slick character with connections in the Insurgency, GALCOM and numerous underground crime syndicates. You catch my drift? I dont know Captain, questioned Tommy, with all his contacts and experience maybe Hovis could be of use to The Devils Hand? Right now Hovis wants the protection of The Devils Hand so Im sure he would be a great asset that is, until GALCOM or whoever makes him the right offer and he decides to sell us all out. Ockham said harshly while staring into his Vid screen. And how do you know all of this? asked Kara Moran skeptically. OK, Remember yesterday while we were passing through Tau Ceti? asked Ockham as he looked up from his Vid screen. We saw that Drodian LRT that was shipping STS missiles? The UCV  BLACKBURN must have picked it up on radar. All it needed to do was make one extra hyperspace jump, destroy a defenseless cargo ship and bingo an entire cargo pod worth of STS Missiles. Raiders do NOT pass up this kind of opportunity. I was wondering about that myself actually, said Tommy. Think hes headed someplace in a hurry? You didnt answer my question, replied Kara with a curious look upon her face. How do you know this guy and why cant you just prove all of this to Fleet Commander Shingen? I dont understand why this is such a complicated issue... Ockham sighed and stretched out in his chair. It adds up like this explained Ockham. Ive run into Hovis in the past. It was a particular piece of history in my life Id since buried and done my best to forget about. Anyway, I dont have a single shred of evidence to back up these claims. Usually Shingen would take my word for what its worth and not give a guy like Hovis a second thought, but as everyone here knows The Devils Hand is stretched thin right now. We can always use more ships and we need more resources. Hovis must have made Shingen quite a generous offer. So we just keep shadowing UCV  BLACKBURN until we figure out if Hovis is up to something or until he violates The Raiders Code? asked Tommy to double check if he understood the Captain correctly. Oh, dont worry, asserted the Captain, I already know Hovis has to be up to something. No independent ship travels this distance this quickly without a damn good reason. Well get some answers soon enough. Besides, commented Ockham, if we prove he is or has been working with the authorities, as the leader of the new Subversion Wing of the Devils Hand, it would be my duty to kill the traitorous son of a b#tch. And while were at it we could probably liberate his cargo holds and cannibalize his ship for spare parts and weapons, right Brooks? said Ockham with a smirk. Hey, it would only be fair, Tommy Brooks concluded with a smile. [/RP]

You beat me to it Shingen I was just about to make a post suggesting that all TDH commanders make a visit to the Roleplaying forum and read your RP thread. It's important that we(that means you!) show support for fellow raiders within Multiplayer and its equally if not more important that we support eachother throughout the UC/BC forums/community. Shingen is doing us a great favor by helping to make our presence known throughout the UC community with his RP story and at the same time giving us something fun to read. It will be very cool if everyone here can at least read his RP story, give feedback, and show support for what IMHO is the begining of a pretty cool story Thus far its only a couple posts long so nobody can use the excuse that they don't have enough time! @Shingen You can make references to my AE+Ship if you'd like. I'll try and write something up to add to the plot for ya that includes my AE. Also, I've never RP before... So if I make a post I'll probably stick to being a bit character on the sideline. I wouldn't want to be in charge of the main plot, although I'd be able to create stories/events if you PM'ed me in advance.

ANYONE? p.s. it's probably, just a psychological desire, creating the ILLUSION SC knows the answers to all your SR questions. You should ask him. And if he actually posts a reply to your question that includes even the slightest clue concerning the solar reactor you will forever be a UC forum celebraty. You'll know that out of all the forum regulars that have begged for answers since this past March, you're the one who finally got SC to spill the beans. Or... you could be completely ignored by everyone and known as the guy who killed the solar reactor thread.

lol! nice The Sunflash is a very good "tank" indeed. What is also nice about the Sunflash is that it has the best HJ recharge time out of any heavy cruiser. So we could have one or two Sunflash ambush a carrier convoy and fight for 30 sec (30s = HJ recharge time). In those 30 sec, I would assume all carriers would launch their support fighter craft. Our friendly Sunflash cruisers would then HJ away to meet up with their backup at a predetermined location. The AI controling enemy support craft would most likely chase our Sunflash(s) and HJ(an experianced commander might not let their fighters fall prey to this trick) I figure it takes 30 sec or less for fighters to make a hyperjump. It takes a heavy carrier at least 90sec. In this situation, we can engage the fighters who will arrive at least 15sec earlier than the Sunflash(s). Then we can decide if we want to either: Retreat and HJ out of the system for whatever reason. (it takes Sunflash 75sec to HJ and then fully recharge and the quickest heavy carrier HJ transit time is 90sec) or! Lay a mine field and prepare to destroy incoming carriers without their annoying fighter craft.
-
You hold down the SELL button for what seems to be forever to get rid of all the Potassium your mining droids picked up. w00t! $$$ Then you hold down the BUY button for an extended period of time to stock up on Plutonium. As you exit the starstation you can't figure out why your shields won't charge up and then it hits you... You mistakenly sold all your Plutonium and bought 4k of worthless Potassium
-
Anyone have any ideas on how differant heavy cruisers could compliment one another? Also, I've been toying around in SP with my starwarrior trying to see how well I can out manuvuer larger ships... I realized I can weave in and out of the front structures of an AESTROM(its amazing how big those things are...). Ya, and I also drove my ship literally inside the hull of a VIOLON. I pressed F9 and tried to get a visual of my ship, but no dice. Not sure if this can be of any help to anyone, but its interesting nonetheless.
-
About PTA coverage... I usually park my ship admist a few fighters, press F9 and observe where my turrets are and how they fire. Is there a more accurate/scientific and easier way to find out about a ship's PTA coverage?
-
I'll start off by saying a few quick things about my fav ship atm, the starwarrior It's HJ transit time of 35sec is insane! It's as quick as most Super Fighters with concern to HJ transit time. Only medium and light fighters along with Mk1/Mk2 shuttles have quicker HJ transit times. The starwarrior is very small. In fact, its the smallest(height/width/length) heavy cruiser you can choose. And the shield/armor quality is still decent. Questar and Sunflash have better armor and only Starcruiser and Solnar have better shields. So its pretty much average shield/armor. I like the positioning of the turrets. I believe 5 are on the top deck and 4 are underneath.(correct me if I'm wrong) When firing your main guns you'll notice one turret underneath your ship can fire straight ahead and usually hits whatever target you are firing at. I DONT like how the starwarrior only has 2x Mk3 Shuttles. I wish it had Mk1 Shuttles because they have twice the cargo space and MUCH better HJ transit time. On a side note, the Solnar is the ONLY Heavy Cruiser that has 2x Mk1 Shuttles. I assume that could be a big advantage to a team of raiders in MP.
-
As we all know, Terran Raiders only have access to 5 differant Heavy Cruisers. Heavy Cruisers are the weakest capitol ships in UC, and they don't come stocked with fighter escorts. In short, you need to know how to use your Heavy Cruiser or else SP & MP life will be short and not so sweet. I created this thread so TDH members can have a place to discuss the pro's/con's, differances, strategies and opinions concerning the Starcruiser, Starwarrior, Solnar, Questar, and Sunflash Heavy Cruisers. I also created a table in Excel with all five heavy cruisers and their stats if anyone wants it. It's much easier to compare differant ships with the Excel Table than it is with the appendix.

No prob Shingen Just let me know the overall purpose/goals/objectives of the Subversion Wing and I'll get on it(either here or in a PM). Takvah, you are the man lol. I read that narrative of your MP experiance. Good stuff

Any good war stories yet? Are other fleets taking notice of the increased number in raider ships? I can't play MP yet but I'm curious how TDH Raiders are holding up

quote:Originally posted by MadFox: I like the StarWarrior. Just look at it. Its beautiful. Its great as a pirate vessel. Well said. It IS beautiful ItÔÇÖs hyper jump recharge time is excellent, the top speed of the craft is excellent and I enjoy flying a spaceship that is relatively so small.(i enjoy being the underdog ) IÔÇÖve found I can switch on my EMD, out-maneuver most larger vessels when they come out of hyperspace, take up a position by their stern where their PTA system is less effective and blast them with my main guns. I enjoy being able to dogfight with the Starwarrior. Although, users beware of ÔÇ£playing chickenÔÇØ with larger and more powerful battlecruisers! Starwarriors, especially non-upgraded Starwarriors, have a habit of getting ripped apart very quickly if you arenÔÇÖt paying attention. Not being able to deploy fighters is a negative but once you get enough experience points you can build up your own fleet so itÔÇÖs ok. And I think the majority of the turrets on the StawarriorÔÇÖs PTA system are located on the deck/top of the ship? Anyways, I do lots of inverted flying, especially around starbases. Lots of fun

Sure thing Shingen I'll see what I can do

Ya, I was trying to emphasise the fun of never really being able to "beat the game" on roam campaign. Should have typed "Game Complete Message" instead of "Game Over Message". I'm no stranger to KIA notices, especially on those FPS instant action scenarios.
-
One of my first times playing UC, it was a instant action naval mission, I flew my gunship straight into the ocean at top speed. I expected to see a "GAME OVER" message flash across the screen... or maybe a "YOU'RE DEAD" message... but nothing happened. I looked up how to exit vehicals, pressed Alt+E and watched my AE swim around in the ocean, I couldn't stop laughing Very cool indeed. I haven't seen a "GAME OVER" message flash across the screen yet and I don't think I ever will. Like Meras said, "that's the beauty of it "
