  1. UC beats it all
  2. Hey George you got a chance to play UC yet?
  3. Yes you are right, but the most thing that interests us now not what solar reactor actually does but what is the difference to have solar reactor settings on 10 instead of on 5. It's enough to generate enough energy even with SR on 5 but why we have control over it till 10? That's what is the question, nobody could find any difference. There is no need for it since we have all we need using only half of what it can do.
  4. Well George we are always here to help, but before asking any question you will have to read and complete manual with Commander tutorial mission. After that read appendix and all other files that will come along with the game. And DON'T forget to patch the game to the latest 2.00.11 patch. If you have any questions first use forum search engine, because Derek doesn't like when people junk up the forums with the new threads which subject was discussed already in other threads, so use search engine and if you are still in trouble send Personal Messages , because 99% issues were already discussed.
  5. quote:Originally posted by George: INCREDIBLE!!! I have just going to buy the UC from the amazon.com but I stuck!!! when I read the ÔÇ£users reviewsÔÇØ what these guys have wrote?!@ It is really incredible only 3 good reviews!!!! The most of them suggest: ÔÇ£stay away from this game!ÔÇØ wwwhyyy! They are too hard with the game! Any way I just paste here 1-2 lines of a review that I have found funny the guy wrote: ÔÇ£This game requires a real PhD to figure out how to play it not the fake one Derek Smart has. Prepare to spend the rest of your life learning how to play this game to enjoy all the features.ÔÇØ LOL!! INCREDIBLE!!! YA? And George, read first thread in forum, believe me it's very important. Derek excpects us to follow the rules of his forums.
  6. No George, from what I've learned many people who leave reviews like to critisize too much. Man, just buy it and try it for yourself. Yes it DOES take time to learn. Don't be too excited that you will be able to enjoy 100% of the futures after first hour of play. It will take at least few hours to play tutorial (you'll have to read 80 pages big manual along with running tutorial). But, I am telling you and many others can add their votes - IT'S WORTH IT 100%. Even if you don't like it you won't find any other game of similar genre so it's a nice thing to have in collection. And it's only 20 bucks. Believe me most of those people are scum. You can't be compitent enough if you've played only 1 hour. That's the most of impressions in reviews. This game has unusually steap learning curve but if you'll manage to get familiar yourself with it, oh man what an adventure awaits you. But it's all about patience and will power . Well, that's quite an unusuall opinion...
  7. By the way, so many of us playing UC, did anyone make any movie so far? This game offers lots of different scenes... Anyone made any movie, got any link to check them? I mean movie like a real nice movie with some cool added music, some cool event recorded or something...
  8. Second copy? To keep it as a reserve? Or for one of your friends so he/she can enjoy UC together with you?
  9. I don't think Derek is SO evil... Do as I do, don't care about Solar reactor that much and you will be fine .
  10. Battery, galaxians... so far it was only 2 theories and none of them make sense. Well battery does, but what for it is? It doesn't affect systems of the ship whatsoever. Solar reactor saves radine? Well sooner or later you run out of it anyway and you have to dock to buy more. So far solar reactor is pretty useful device.. to keep discussion alive on this board . I can't find any other reason for it to be so vitally useful.
  11. I've ran search in UC Tech support section and found 7 threads including yours about joysticks. I don't use joystick myself though.
  12. They won't release anything like that. There is already demo out which shows pretty much what the game is like. And they won't release any demo showing "games trade simulator" because the game is barely about the trade, all BCM series games are mostly focused on military operations. X2 is much more about the trade than BCM games. To start your carrier in X2 you have to trade, but to start your carrier in UC - you have to fight soldier. But of course it's up to you. There are threads devoted to trading routes and you can achieve pretty much by trading in UC. You can buy weapons, equipment to your ships, shuttles, new ground units and many more things. And I REALY suggest to check TOP thread in the forum (it is in EVERY forum), otherwise soldier you will be released from any duties and taken any priviledges even to post in BCM forums. (They'll never learn ).
  13. By the logic when you increase power of it the output of solar reactor should increase too. But there wasn't any real aknowledgment for that. And people also say that too much is not always too good. Wasn't any acknowledgment for that either. So I guess thread is starting all over .
  14. I just turn always my solar batteries towards the sun. How it helps, I actually don't give a damn . I know one thing that with having plates towards the sun you get lots of additional power points. But I have enough even without them. Is there any ETA on when this thread will end? We getting old and fat.
  15. Fortunately it's not the last game from 3000AD but from what I've heard on forums Derek said that he is going to get back to original BCG and make games on original line. There won't be another Universal Combatkind game, it is not very good news, but maybe Derek will come up with something even better. Next projext UC:E2E promises to be pretty but much smaller than UC and there is no other UCs in plans. I might be wrong though. No other announcements out there for games except E2E and XBOX game. But I guess E2E will hold us for a while. After that EQ2 will be out and I will probably forget about other games for a couple monthes . Yeah plus HL2, Doom III, enough of games for the rest of the year and till the middle of next one .
  16. I was always thinking that what we can't get from real life we try to acquire in games. I was always looking mostly up than down, was wondering about space and stuff. Was actually on the path to become a pilot, then things didn't work out and I had to stop dreaming and start leaving real life. That's how I ended up being IT tech. I was always looking for game that could replace what I've lost in the past and so far I have to play few games to feel comforted . But so far UC is the most comforting game. I want something better for sure, something that would let you jump into realms of virtual reality. I wonder when gaming industry will step in that area of next generation games. Judging on how fast and advancing technology progresses probably in a few years we will have first real VR games.
  17. http://rr.pc.ign.com/rr/007/007440.html This is wierdest review I've ever read. So does this guy like the game or not? I think how he said in the end it doesn't really matter graphics, music or anything else even if it's 7.5 score. Gameplay is 10, with both hands I agree. My overview would end up somewhere around 8.5 or even 9.5. Graphics can be tweaked with your Video card "force". Music can be added manually, I think.. Not sure about this one though . And for the end if you don't like the way things look on the planet, well don't focus on deep planet ops, man there are realy millions of possibilities in this game. As this man said it's not the game actually, game ends sooner or later... Go try to finish Unreal Combat . As further it goes as more I like UC. Some people just can't "bear" all the complexity and the scope of it. Looking forward for UC:E2E and even after it's out I will miss original UC, but how fortunately I'll still have it. Unreal Combat is created to live in it, not to play . Live on... P.S. This guy's overall score is 9.4. Subject changed. Damn n00bs. Can't get anything right. 18. X2 is pretty interesting as far as Compaign holds your attention. After compaign finished silence and boredom begin. So I've enjoyed it till I've finished the compaign, after that it was booooring. But still one of the best games of the year.
  19. I am 30 and I still play computer games. Doesn't matter what you play on which console. I play on PS2 different games, well I just enjoy playing. I don't know why. This addiction started when i was a kid and never ended. But I find out that my addiction gets "cooler" along with the years. So I don't think that we are sick. Who can draw a line between when you start playing and when you should end? I think it's all up to person. If there is nothing more interesting that I could do - I'll play. Oh yes, I will. But it doesn't mean that I am total addict and sacrifice everything for games. No, I do other things too. So as soon as you play games along with other things that grown up people do I think you're alright. But go explain it to your wife . My wife plays too, so it's easy here . 20. Don't forget to try Universal Combat. It'll give you loads of fun and it's price won't even disturb your pocket.
  21. quote:Originally posted by UnderLord: .....so don't hurt me.
  22. quote:Originally posted by George: ok it is worth! but tell me how to start! and something else, what other games of this kind (space sims) there are? any suggestions! Thx for your help! i need it! George I am myself very big fan oof space sims. I played almost every bigger and most interesting sim. I didn't play Homeworld though but I don't regret. Right now 2 of my favorite Space Sims are Universal Combar and X2: The Threat. I love Universla Combat because it's the most complicated, which it makes for me the most interesting space sims out there plus it has prettu decent graphics. With some AAs and AFs UC looks very, very pretty. Especially in the space. Another space sim I like which some people would call trade sim (I don't agree) is X2: The threat. I finished X2 couple monthes ago but very often I still catch myself on wanting to install it again. X2 has best graphics that i've seen in any Space Sim. It also has some nice points. I won't tell you much about X2 or UC and I won't tell you which one is the best. I like them both and I like to own them both. Unreal Combat gives me thrill with it's complexity which I enjoy a lot (hate simple games, get bored too fast) and pretty graphics. X2 amazes me with it's graphics and some game elements like constructable bases, factories and so on etc.. It's a real fun to play both games. So if your budget allows you I suggest you buy both and wait for UC:E2E technical demo. From what I've read UC:E2E will be a game of a smaller scope but of astonishing graphics. Which I am really looking forward to play. Another game I like called Hegemonia: Legion of Darkness. I like it because I used to play all games of Battlestart Galactica series and Hegemonia is made by the same developer, sort of next game in BG series but of different calibr. So if you are fan of BG games you should try Hegemonia. Well that's my 2 cents. Hope it'll help you to chose the right one, or 2 or 3 games . Good luck.
  23. Manual explains how...
  24. You have to register the game properly. If you won't you may recall not very positive feedback amongst people who have created these rules. 3000AD forums are different from "other" and public forums. There are rules you have to follow at least if you want to communicate with people on 3000AD forums. So I suggest you better go here: http://www.3000ad.com/register/ and register the game with the key you have. If it's a valid key and you have a problem with it, someone will might help you after your succesful registration.
