  1. Noone is blaming you, but if you need help with the CD-key you have to post in related forum.
  2. quote:Originally posted by Swjay: I did buy it, i bought it at bestbuy for 20 bucks same time i bought my joystick, wanna see a picture of the box up against the forum with my username as the logged in one? If you realy did buy your game your CD-key is located on the back of the manual. And if it's not working then the only person who can help you is Supreme Cmdr. This forum is for discussing the game. Please post about your problem in customer service related forum.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Swjay: Dident give it to anyone, just bought the game. Dident look like the box was opened when i got it, maybe someone got lucky with a keygen if there is one for this game yet. Swjay you have registered your profile wrong. It is supposed to display your system settings when you click on it. It looks like you did it all wrong. And you won't receive any technical support untill you register it correctly...
  4. Are you sure you have read this: http://www.3000ad.com/ubbcgi/welcome.html and did all it says to do? That's what you have to start with...
  5. You are probably right, I will remove offensive sentences. But those were my feelings after I've read his post and I had a right to express them because I played UC and have my opinion about it. And I wouldn't agree with you that his post is filled with respect and kindness. He talks like if UC would be his ORDER to 3000AD and he is not satisfied with the end product. His way is very far from being respectful, my friend.
  6. quote:Originally posted by cdrhardboot: Hey all, ive been playing UC for a couple months, read the manual/appendices/tutorial a billion and 5 times, spent hours on this board.. but im kinda stupid... You are not far from the truth... quote:Originally posted by cdrhardboot: First off, i love this game, FINALY something besides a spaziod twitch shooter to play!(ya ya.bc, i didnt know!). The depth and openness is great, blah blah, just insert general butt kissing here . Love it.Why don't you just drop this BS? quote:Originally posted by cdrhardboot: Ok, here are something that im hopeing i am missing or misunderstanding or just dont like or think would be nice. Why? Becuase im hopeing this game keeps going, keeps getting better. .I don't think it will get much better for you. You played all of them and for you they all look the same. I think next sequel E2E won't be much different for you. So don't bother. quote:Originally posted by cdrhardboot: AI- Why is it that everyone(marines, captians, pilots)are so bloody suicidal! Now it makes sense to me that a commander of a carrier, cruiser, etc would have the freedom to make thier own decisions, even if its a stupid one. Although it does realy get on my nerves that if i jump into a system with an enemy base i am garuteed to lose a ship, becuase one of them will HJ to the base before i can issue him the 'defend/escort me' cmnd. And for my marines or pilots to disobey orders to run halfway across the galaxy/planet to attack something.. well, its just not right. A simple system of an "engage range" would do the trick, or "engage only if attacked" type of thing. Hmmm, see here I don't know what to say. If you have read manuals/tutorials/appendixes and everything else billion and 5 times and keep telling and asking these things then you either are - 1-dumb or 2-thoughtfully trying to insult game developer and game comunity by trashing the most important and big part of the game - AI. You probably have to read all those manuals at least 5 more times. quote:Originally posted by cdrhardboot: Planets- While i love that they are huge, the terrain textures for bases/citys are.. strange. They look great from up high, but in close its.. erm.. ugly. The bases themselves are extremely spread out(building to building, not base to base). While i think i understand why trees dont have collision detection, it would be nice if they did. Ugly? What about if you try to use more decent video card? Or add some AAs of AFs? IMHO with all the scope and variaty UC has pretty descent graphics... You just have to find right settings for your computer. quote:Originally posted by cdrhardboot: Cargo- I dont like it! I should be able to store what i want where i want! Luanch Bay - Why is it i cant capture enemy fighters and fill an empty luanch bay? Is it something with how they dock? different systems for different ships? If you would be less sarcastic you'd sound less pathetic. Well, you just funny... Why don't you build your own game, man? And don't forget to put collision detection on trees. That's the most important part.. lol. quote:Originally posted by cdrhardboot: Brig - How can an unarmed prisoner escape from a cell? Ive been in jail, and there is no way of getting out.. unles you are part of the Fantastic Four. Im just guessing that by 3030 the prison cells are even more secure. It would also be nice to have a 'Prison' button in tactical(like the medibay one), to be able to quickly monitor it and assign marines, etc. Your prisoners escaped? Man you are so funny... Why do you think they've escaped from prison on your ship? My prisoners for example after I reach the station are transported to place where they belong. Maybe you should use more durable bars in your ship's prison? Or maybe your've spent so much time in space that all your crew got tired and pissed of you and just gave up their duties... Yeah sounds like a good explanation. quote:Originally posted by cdrhardboot: Done. Some of this may be trivial, but the better it gets the more people playing the more money the better it get the more money and some private servers to keep the community alive. I think you had to much of rubbish .Otherwise you wouldn't be so rude and disrespectful. If you would have read all the information about the game so many times you would have more respect for it's developer and game community every one of which enjoys every aspect of the game. If your point here is to start liking the game - read all the information about it fully at least ONCE, ALL OF IT. Go through tutorial using training commander mission. Run game in windowed mode and use appendix while playing to learn what all those thousands of items in the game do and mean. And believe me after you do it you will come back to the forum and will be sorry for what you've just posted. Try to learn that some games require more attention and longest time to familiarize yourself with all the features and possibilities. It's always easy to trash game on the forums, but go and learn the game first to be worthful to trash it. Right now from all you've posted me and many others we think you don't know a damn thing about this game yet. So good luck. I hope you'll have another chance here. They think they own the whole world and everybody have to bow to them, especially game developers. He is just an . People like him have no respect to anyone else, they only love themselves and don't even respect their own parents. Well, shortly holes.. I might be wrong but he sounds exactly like one.
  8. Dave.. .. if game bugging on your system why do you think that game is buggy? There are very few people who experiencing ANY problems after correctly insalling and patching the game (unless there is a hardware problem). I understand your are being dissapointed but believe me there is tons of information in Tech forum and all "bugs" and problems have been listed many times before you and SC already fixed all possible bugs. Right now game is in perfect condition. If it crashes sometimes it can be just a problem with your computer. You might be running too high graphics settings, and your power supply just throwing you to the DT. Or many other hardware problems. You SHOULD go to the tech forum if your experiencing problems playing the game. You SHOULD properly register before you post anywhere on 3000AD forums. Those are the rules, if you disobey continuesly you will be banned most certainly. And for the future if you will keep having problems with the game (gameplay problems or any others) you HAVE to check appropriate forum first, then think what you could have done wrong, then check forum once again putting your problem in different term and if it still won't work then you have to read manual, Game Appendix, play the game with TUTORIAL which is placed in second thread from the top and after you do this... and then 85% of your doubts and problems will dissapear. This is a game of a BIG scope even if you put some sarcasm in it, but it really IS. Small games require small manuals and tiny tutorials. This game tutorial will keep you in front of the computer for at least 4 hours and even then you won't learn game 100%. That's why Appendix and Manual exist and all other documents which you can read in PDF and DOC formats in game folder. My 2 cents...
  9. I think I'll just delete the topic... To be further away from CS's wrath . There is actually nothing much to complain about, game is cool as it is designed.
  10. Yep, that's the beauty of it .

  12. Is it sarcastic topic or you really liked it? Btw can you share with me (PM me please) with that profitable route? thanks.
  13. quote:Originally posted by Ditto00: Hey SC, a question: 1. Could you install a button in tactical that toggles the AI Officers from giving orders like onstation? And disables the pilots and officers fromgoing onstation by themselves automatically? Would be nice Is it also possible to add button to the counter of any items minerals, especially minerals. Because when you sell them on station you have to hold down the arrow untill all those thousands of minerals are moved to the station hangars unless I missed something. Could you please put there a box so we can add manually number of selling minerals/items quantity? Thanks it would save pretty much time. P.S. Sorry for off topic.
  14. There is an option to clear all priority targets. That's how you remove them. How could you miss THAT? Try tacops priority target section.
  15. And mine too .
  16. I don't like to be a quaker. If I want to shoot things I'll play Battlefield Vietnam, FarCry. I like Universal Combat not only because it's very dinamic but also because it lets you create your own "character" even if it's only in your mind. I wish UC had more missions, quests. Derek created terrific game that let's you do whatever you want and draws you in but he didn't think about creating missions, quests. That's why I wish game could be modded. But it can't. I wish I could play the game long enough. Right now my attention is being drawn by ACM campaign. After I finish it I will be able to have bigger fleet and try to follow directives and establish piece in the galaxy. I'll just try to follow directives and see how it will end. I wish there would be more missions... What is the difference between roam campaigns?
  17. ehh, screw that reactor... I am ok without it, just keep it on 5 and don't care much does it help or not...
  18. Thanks Vixef , I should probably then start Military commander career... since many directives are connected to military situation in the galaxy.
  19. I have questions: 1. How to understand Galactic Command Directives and Command Operations and Guidelines? Note: I for sure can understand that regarding these directifves and guidelines you can build your gameplay the way you like since Roam is free to do anything type. But how am I suppose to understand this: 2. Allocate resource units to build additional starbases, starstations, and defense systems within the Terran quadrant. Who will build it? Do I have an options in UC to actually BUILD anything? If not does this directive mean - go mine and sell minerals to galcom stations so they can build more. What this guideline means: Exploration As a commander, you are free to explore the galaxy and report back to GALCOM on your findings such as new civilizations, lifeforms, hostile force concentrations, and most importantly, first-contact situations. Who I supposed to report? I don't think there is anyone waiting for me to report in ANY mission... Confusion. Alien Nations appendix: There is talk of a crashed probe located on a planet deep within a Supernova in the Vega Eridani system. What happens when I find the probe, and is it actually worth it to spend weeks looking for some crashed probe somewhere in the middle of region on one of it's planets... Are there any special devices in game, like some kind of a scanner after which you equip you can receive signals? I mean there supposed to be something, some clues leading to this probe or else it will be a pain which will only makes you frustrated... Is UC full of surprises? I mean if you play Roam mode there is the whole space opened to you. Do whatever you want, but if there is nothing to stop your attention on it will become bored soon. For example I started scientist career, but I don't think there is going to be many researches since there are not so many artifacts you can research. And research itself actually has a different meaning in UC. What can I do as a scientist in UC? Can I research new types of weapons or stuff like that? Or class only gives you some bonuses to specific stats? This freedom scares . You can do whatever you want and actually get lost... Any scientist around who could tell me anything interesting about career of scientist?
  20. quote:Originally posted by Papi: No one will pay you for the job, but enjoy collecting cargo pods floating in the space. That's where you get your pay That's not correct, you get paid for towing ships to stations. If you deliver disabled ship to the station with CC you supposed to get paid, at least that what tutorial says, I tried once. That stuff didn't work in tutorial mission... heh But yes you get paid. And as a mercenary you get paid and rewarded... Supposed to..
  21. Blue screen is a hardware problem. Check your RAM, it should be a memory problem because it happens when game creates a save file. Your RAM is bad... or possibly HDD has bad clusters, if not replace your RAM you will see difference.
  22. There is a problem with planet ground detail mesh. That freezing effect I described in other posts is caused by turning on ground detail mesh. As soon as it's off there is no freezing effect. But if mesh is off you can't see ground under you if you look from aside. It's like you standing in the air (if on a small hill for example). But performance increases dramatically on the surface in the middle of the base for example. No freezing effects if mesh turned off.. but no normal ground under your feet either...
  23. SC please don't take it as an argument , but UC along with very interesting and wide variations of things to do differes from other games also with quite unique main Campaign. I always liked campaigns because they allow you to obtain game features little by little (which also makes learning ladder not so steap ). It's like first mission you get few units without being able to produce anything, then as game produces further you gain new abilities and opportunities, and so on and etc... In UC case you get a few cruisers fleet and a goal to achieve. I would rather call this campaign exploration mission, because it lets you familirize yourself almost with the entire galaxy of UC, learn how to pilot carriers, shuttles, fighters familirizes you with game interface some but still the main idea is go from point A to point B, meet some guys then escort them to point C managing to keep your and their ships safe. I also understand that the game of this scope takes a lot of time to create and polish and leaves not much time for the main scripts... Game is VERY GOOD, interesting, full of choices and wide opportunities. But main problem why some people complain that it's very hard to understand, I think because there is no main big campaign which in most other games let's you "learn" the game by playing main campaign which have few missions and reveals game features in steps. I believe that would help many people to understand how good this game really is and how interesting is to play it after you learned everything about it. I think that's why most of the games have this kind of Campaigns. Do you plan to create scripts for another main campaigns? Or will it be able to MOD the game in the future with additional MODding tools? Thanks.
  24. How many days went by since SC said that he will jump in with information about SR?
