  1. Now, one other thing... I collected a bunch of cargo from free-floating pods in the Earth system debris field, some of which included weapons, like several OTS missiles. Is there any way to transfer these weapons from the Cargo bay to the Weapons bay, or am I restricted to Jettison or Sell? Thanks for any help. GrizLeBar - Deck Swabbie
  2. Well, your in East Japips quadrant of Nowhere, your stores are depleted, you've run out of Plutonium and Radine, your engines and reactor have shut down, and to top it off, there are no tow ships available to take you back to base. Waddya gonna do? Launch a Shuttle, and order it to tow you back to base.
  3. "Your bottle neck there is Winblows Multiple Errors, which i don't think supports DOS sound anyway." It does support DOS SoundBlaster, and in Windows, the Microsoft Sound System, which I currently use for 2.09. "I couldn't have WinME installed for more than a month without it developing some sort of critical error resulting in me doing a wipe and reinstalling. So I went out and bought Win2k instead, which doesn't support DOS sound either but I can't even use the work around to get it installed anyway" Depends on the soundcard you have inatalled, and the brand of computer. The MS Sound System should be resident in any Windows install. Actually, 2.09 runs better in Vesa V1 mode under WinME, which is fine in my estimation.
  4. "Why don't you just download the free version of BC3K 2.09? I know for a fact that BC3K 2.09 has planetary mission-zones with bases and structures, buildings and launchpads, S.A.M.s and everything else." I figured out what was wrong. Apparently, the FAQ and README failed to mention that the MapPack contained a MapMake utility, to create the new PTE's from the added script files. I ran that, and all the surface features appeared. The patches also omitted the nessessary file DOS4GW.EXE, which powers the map maker. Thanks for your help.
  5. "There aren't any planetary mission-zones in BC3K 2.0., as they didn't come out until BC3K 2.08. If you have the boxed BC3K 2.0, then you can download the 2.00 -> 2.08 and 2.08 -> 2.09 patches. Also get the mappak as well, because most of the mission-zones are installed with the mappak." With all due respect, Commander, I'm still missing something here. I may be just a shuttle bay deck swabbie, but I'm not blind or stupid. I have 2.00 patched up to 2.09, including the Map Pack, tried every mode and scenario, and still don't see any surface structures like those from the previous patches or version. I forget if it was in 1.00 or 2.00, but I downloaded every patch ever made by Take-Two and Gremlin from 2.01 on up to 2.06, and the 1.00 to 1.07D (never was a 1.01b). If nessessary, I'll start with the basic 2.00 and keep laying on the patches till I find some ground features. Should be fun experiencing what the BC3K pioneer went through to get to the 2.09 level.
  6. "Out of curiosity i got a copy of BC3000AD V1.00 from Ebay, patched it up to V1.08a (can't find the 1.08b that is meant to be the last official one). Overall much like V2.0 but without as many CC commands and no fleet command & control functions. One surprising thing is the cool installing game screen and in game menu screen that are MUCH better than anything since IMHO " When I first saw the original boxed version in the store, I was not overly impressed, since it looked much like every other space shooter I ever played. Then I looked at the screen shots on the back and was immediatly struck by the fact that you could actually land on the planets. Up to that time, I was a hard-line Elite player, which did about everything BC3K did except fly down to a planet's surface. The game went for about 20 bucks at the time, so I grabbed it and tried it out. I read the manual, which looked like it was printed on an old HP Pro-Writer with a bad ROM, and booted up the game. All went went until the first crash, then the second, ad infinitum, but I had fun playing in- between. After a long series of patches, it finally settled down to 2 crashes/game. Not only is the game inutitive, but esthetically pleasing. Try landing on an Earthlike planet in the early evening and watch the sun set behind a distant mountain. Keep 'em coming, Commander Smart.
  7. "There isn't a 1.0 to 2.08 patch. You gotta have th retail 2.0 cd. How antique is your system?! BC3K 2.09 ran fine on my old 233MHZ P1, and now I've got it running on a 350MHZ P2 Compaq. BC3K doesn't like systems with below 64 MB RAM ( 128-256 is better ), but the game should run in software mode." I did manage to get it to run in software (V1) mode using Scitech Display Doctor. In fact, it looks better than the 3DFX mode, and runs faster. My old Voodoo2 card doesn't map the sun sprite well and reverts to 1 frame/sec when it's in the viewscreen. So far, no crashes, which is a plus. Incidentally, you mentioned that you never found the 1.08b patch for version 1.00. You can find every patch ever made for both versions here, although you must sign up to download them: http://www.gamespot com/pc/strategy/battlecruiser3000ad/downloads.html

I do have the 1.00 to 2.08/09, but they don't behave well on my antique computer. I tried running the 2.09 in Vesa mode and it crashed to desktop. I'll try the Univesa setup and see if that helps.
  9. Yeah, it does run. I picked up a copy at Electronic Boutique for about 5 bucks, and popped it onto my Packard Bell Legend. It does run with the patches, but still tends to crash a lot, but to be fair, so does my Packard Bell. Incidentally, I am running the Boxed version 2.00. I recall I used to see cities on the planets, or am I thinking of 1.00? I don't see any in 2.00. Were these taken out or am I missing something?
  10. quote:Originally posted by Fred-Z: Hei; Anyone here still plays 2.09 version? Because I live in Brazil and here don┬┤t have other versions to buy. My game was downloaded on oficial site. I play the original boxed 2.00 on a Pentium 233, 64K RAM, with WinME. I tried installing the 2.09 version, but the framerate was haltingly sluggish on my Voodoo2 graphics card.
