It never fails. Every argument about Bush's policy on fighting terror and the war in Iraq always comes back to the dreaded 'WMD'. Well, I am going to debunk this myth as well so you can no longer use the WMD argument as a rock to scurry under whenever you are confronted with truth and facts. Bush's ultimatum to Saddam Hussein prior to the invasion had 7 key points. WMD was number 5. If these were in order of precedence, that would mean there were 4 more important points than the WMD issue, all of which contributed equally to Bush's decision to invade. For argument's sake, let us assume that they were NOT in order of precedence. That still leaves the WMD issue as 1/7th of the full reason as to why we invaded Iraq. Number one and two, as I'm sure you conveniently forgot were that 1)Saddam Hussein had a history of unprovoked and brutal agression against his neighbors and in fact his own people, and 2) not only allowed terrorists to operate and train freely within his country's borders, but also had consistently provided support to terrorists. How much was he paying the families of the suicide bombers in Israel? Don't tell me you forgot this little tidbit. How many terrorist strongholds and training camps were found and are still being found today throughout Iraq? To say definitively that Saddam Hussein possessed no WMD following the first war is dubious, as he had plenty of time to disperse them amongst his terrorist buddies while the UN sheepishly pumped out meaningless resolution after meaningless resolution, all the while completely lacking the collective spine to lift a finger to actually DO anything. But for argument's sake let's say that Bush was 100% wrong about the level of WMD in Iraq. (Something I find increasingly amusing is that every now and then CNN does a story on huge caches of missing weapons to point out how incompetent Bush is. How can they come up missing if they never existed? Sorry guys, you can't have it both ways.} But, I'll play your game. Let's say Bush was flat-out wrong. If Bush was wrong, then the collective intelligence of 11 different international agencies was wrong. In other words, bad data, very little of which was collected soley by the U.S. Simply put, not Bush's fault. And, please, all you Mike Moore-a-likes, don't make me start laughing until I cry with the tired "Bush lied to get us in to war!" melarchy. It is a worn out argument that never held any water, only proved the extent to which you REALLY hate Bush. "But wait!" I hear all you libs cry, "Why did I only hear about WMD? It was all I heard about prior to the invasion!" Yup. And you know why? Because the other six reasons were unimpeachable fact that could not be disputed by the extremist leftists in the media who desperately wanted Bush to be wrong about something. So all they could do was to hang their hopes on the one issue that Bush had the highest possibility of being wrong about. Intelligence is a dodgy issue under the best of circumstances, and Bush made a decision based on the best information at the time. To hold him accountable for making a decision based on what info he was given is ludicrous. I bet all you libs would have understood if Bush had not acted and an Iraqi WMD had been used on a U.S. city. Nah, you wouldn't have been calling for his head, right. Not like you did after 9/11. Please. Your blantant inconsistencies are pathetic. But, you watch the evening news, because its a good way to fill up on that Bus-bashing pasttime you seem to enjoy so much. You listen to CNN and BBC if you want to. Go ahead and be force-fed elitist's agendas. Suck it all up if you want. Just don't come crying to me when you are woefully misinformed and in the dark, as so many of you obviously are. Which brings me back to my original question. Whose side are you on? Do you realize that the only time something good happens for you Bush-haters is when something bad happens for America? "Oh look! Four U.S. Marines were killed today by a coward's road-side bomb! Yippee! When we reach 2000 dead soldiers, we can really let Bush have it!" Is this really the stance you want to take? We are at WAR people. It is the time for solidarity as Americans, and universal support and appreciation for the men and women in uniform fighting against the single gravest threat you will ever know in your lifetime. But instead, you hate-blinded liberals want to bicker and whine about the country club known as Gitmo and the awful treatment terrorist murderers are receiving, all because it advances your own agenda. Did you argue so vehemently when Nick Berg got his head sawed off for your viewing pleasure? Of course not. Until I see videos of U.S. troops sawing the heads of innocent Muslims off like they were animals, I will continue to laugh at your petty definition of "torture". So? WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON? It is a simple question, but one that no liberal will answer, because, it might implicate them as to being on the same side has Satan re-incarnate, also known to the as G.W. Bush. So instead, round and around we go! Bickering until we're blue in the face! Fun, isn't it?

quote:Bush invaded Iraq simple 'because he could'. The neoconservatives told Bush what to do. Edit: I'm not the only person in the contry to think this way. Bush is loosing numbers for a reason. Like I said, blinded by hate. Thanks for proving my point. Never anything constructive. All doom and gloom, all the time. Never had anything to say when your hero Clinton lobbed a couple of hundred Tomahawks into Iraq on 3 different occasions, I would bet.

I'm sorry if I sound combative, but this topic is REALLY starting to get on my nerves. Everyone wants to criticize, but no one EVER offers a better solution. I wonder, what would YOU do if you were the President? It is not the easiest of jobs. I'm getting kind of sick of all of the U.S. bashing. Again, apologies if I offend, but this is how I feel, and I am NOT going to change.

quote: That's the problem...our present polices won't do that. They just generate more hatred. It's an endless cycle.Unless you want to exterminate half the of the people on this planet, this policy won't work. hmmm..Obviously so blinded by your own agenda that you haven't been keeping up with current events. Let's do a quick rundown: Afghanistan - freed from terrorist rule and moving toward free elections. Iraq- 25 million people freed from the tyranny of an insane despot, and 70% turned out to vote in the first free election of their lives. Syria- pulled its troops out of a weaker country that it had been bullying for years. Libya- came clean about its nuclear program, and abandoned it in its entirety. Iran- softening to the idea of talks with the U.S. When was the last time that happened? Nope you're right. No progress made at all. It's just all doom and gloom. (while a republican is in the White House, anyway) Gimme a break.

Same old crap. You liberals masquerade behind the "Gitmo is a torture camp!" mantra, but the truth is, your agenda blinds you to reason. Someone here cited a UN expert. A UN EXPERT!!! The same UN that was responsible for allowing 800,000 innocent Tutsi's to hacked to death while it idly stood by and did nothing. The same UN that allowed innocent Kurds to be slaughtered while holding the US to some ridiculous set of unilateral rules to not step foot into Bahgdad in the first Gulf War. The same UN that allowed Saddam Hussein to thumb his nose at 18 resolutions threatening action if he did not comply, and never did a thing while the Rape houses and Torture Rooms went on with business as usual. The same UN that allows a country like Saudi Arabia to sit on its HUMAN RIGHTS council. The only thing Saudi Arabia knows about human rights is how do completely circumvent them. The same UN replete with dirty scumbags at the highest levels profiting from the horrible plights of millions in the world's poorest nations. Oil for food, anyone? The same UN that gives equal voting power to the U.S. , Great Britain and half a dozen known rogue terrorist nations. I don't really care if in the course of questioning a terrorist, harsh language is used, and psychological stress is inflicted upon the detainee. If the information given saves the lives of innocent people and OUR Soldiers, then it was for a good cause. This is what is done when interrogating a prisoner. Deal with it. You don't live in Strawberry Shortcake land. Grow the hell up, and grow a spine. These are not Boy Scouts. These are not innocent bystanders. These are thugs and cutthroats. Killers. Murderers. We are in a war for survival. Is this really as tough as you can be? You know, I don't judge someone solely by their political leanings, or treat them with any less respect just because they don't agree with me. But the utterly asinine arguments I've seen put forth by misinformed, hate-blinded liberals here and elsewhere is enough to get my ire up. Do you think we rational Americans don't recognize that you have set your sights on disgracing the Bush administration at every turn, regardless of the truth? You liberals have become so transparent it is sickening. So you hate George Bush. I don't care. You hate Cheney. Fine. You hate the idea of conservatives running the country. Well, have a better turn out at the next election. None of this is of any concern to me. But when you start throwing your lot in with organizations like the utterly corrupt UN and Amnesty International , the American-hating cesspool organization that it is, I begin to wonder, how far are you willing to go to bring discredit to an administration you don't like. I begin to wonder, whose side are you really on? Maybe it's time to decide if you are on the side of the U.S., in its effort to rid the world of brutal terrorists who are willing to kill people like YOUR mother, YOUR father, YOUR children... or if you would rather worry about whether some guy who wouldn't think twice about cutting your father's head off in front of you is getting enough prayer beads and KORAN time. I see through you. Many others do too. Think about it. WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON?

Wouldn't that be something. I've been praying that they find a cure before my wife, heaven forbid, develops lung cancer from her incessant smoking.

Man, I am getting so frickin' sick of hearing about how badly these damn terrorist-animals are being treated at Gitmo. How well were the people on the 4 crashed 9/11 flights treated? How well were the 2600 or so people who showed up to work at the WTC that morning treated? How well were Nick Berg, Eugene Armstrong, Kenneth Bigley, Paul Johnson and all of the other beheaded hostages treated? How well are all of the innocent Iraqi children being blow into pieces in front of their families by suicide bombers being treated? My god-forsaken cushy NAVY BOOTCAMP was 100 times tougher than what these so called "abused" detainees get at Gitmo. Man, there are so many whiney little weaklings in this world, it makes me want to blow a frickin' gasket! Abuse! HAH!

I missed it. Was our good buddy Jack "Lunatic Lawyer" Thompson in it? He never seems to miss the opportunity to get on camera when this topic comes up.

Old Game Revival - Aliens vs Predator 2

quote:Oh sorry, I assumed that you all subscribed to PC Gamer Lol! Actually, I've always liked PC Gamer. Pretty decent writing, and mostly accurate reviews, in my estimation. They usually seem to give a fair assessment of SC and his games, as well. Well, none of that "It's a Derek Smart game, so we HAVE to slag it!" crap that other mags and web sites dish out, anyway. -
Oh man. People - go and see Batman, for heaven's sake! It was awesome! They have got to make enough money so there will be a Batman 2.

Hmm. I kind of got the impression that the battle with the Joker will take place off screen and the next movie will take place after. Not sure why I got that impression, but I think it would be hard for the new series of movies to maintain a serious dark edge with the Joker stealing the show. BTW, wasn't the Joker played by Nicholson in the Burton film? Carey played the Riddler, unless I'm mistaken.

An owner of a very high class restaurant in a big city had a problem. He had a big holiday weekend coming up, with lots of rich patrons expected at his retaurant who demanded an exquisite dining experience. Trouble was, his extemely gifted piano player had fallen ill and was hospitalized. Now these patrons expected to be serenaded while they ate, drank, and made merry. The owner simply had to find a replacement, but only had a day to do it. So the owner put a sign out on the street corner , "Piano Player Wanted-Excellent Pay!" and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, when it looked like hope was lost, a man entered the retaurant. The owner looked at him and was shocked. He was a wino, looking bad and smelling worse. "I'm here about the job," he said. The owner was about to say "No way," but looking up at the clock, realized it was desperation time, so he led the old wino over to the beautiful concert piano in the corner and let him play. The owner was stunned to hear the most beautiful song he had ever heard. When the wino was finished, the owner said, "My God! You play beautifully! What was that song called? I have never heard it before." The wino responded, "It is my own. I call it, 'My Whore of a Mother Ruined My Life, and My Dad was a Deadbeat Loser'" The owner was shocked at the title, but had to admit, the wino was excellent. "Play something else," he said. He would not have thought it possible, but what the wino played next was even more gorgeous than the last song. Overcome with emotion, the owner said, "That was amazing. You're incredible." Pausing for a second, he then cautiously asked, "What was that one called?" "'My Wife's Face Looks Like a Baboon's Ass, and She Smells Worse Than One'," said the wino. The owner replied, "Uh, tell you what. You've got the job, just don't tell any of the patrons tonight the titles of any of your song's, okay?" The wino agreed. So that night, as expected, the place was packed with high rollers and the wino sat in the dark corner and played. When he had finished his latest piece, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. A very rich, beautiful woman got up, wiped her eyes, and walked over to where the wino was sitting. She had to tell this piano player what a beautiful song that was. "Excuse me," she began. Just then, she got a good look at the piano player, and her nose was assailed my an awful smell. Stunned at the wino's appearance, she raised her nose in the air and said, "Do you know you look like a rancid pile of dog feces, and smell like the bottom of a cat-litter box?" The wino looked up at her and smiled. "Know it?! Hell lady, I wrote it!"

After reading your description, SC, it's a lot clearer. I'm not a programmer of any kind, never really had it explained before, and had some incorrect assumptiomns. quote: DOOM 3 for example, is as persistent as I am PC. Wow! That's SOOOO not persistent!

Hmmm...before this thread I thought I knew what persistence in a gameworld was. Hah! After all this, I now realize I didn't have a clue!
