LOL! Just a simple statement about probability. In my (admittedly somewhat limited) experience with law, It is historically highly unlikely that a completely innocent person would get accused by multiple parties. Law notwithstanding, my formulation of an opinion on innocence or guilt is not bound by the "innocent until proven guilty" concept. I guess I can safely admit I would not make a very impartial juror in this case!

Universal Combat - Product End Of Life

Sadly, there is a high probability that you are correct - history HAS shown it. -
These celeb trials are always just smoke and mirrors. As my grandmother used to say, where there's smoke, there's fire. I find it HIGHLY implausible that all of these accusations could stem from nothing.

Clearly DC has shown terrible judgement in many things - their apparent undermining of SC being just one of them- but I for one do not wish for their demise. As they are a committed PC game publisher, I would much rather that they get their sh*t straight and start doing business in a more responsible and ethical manner. Otherwise, they will go the way of the dodo. But I still WANT to support any publisher that makes PC games a priority. Here's hoping that they straighten up before their demise. -
Universal Combat - Product End Of Life

I've gotten more play out of this $20 dollar title than any of the $50 games I bought in the last 2 years. My 'fan club' on bluesnews will surely see this and call me a bootlicker again, but hey, it keeps things interesting! -
I concur. As a boxing fan from the Sugar Ray Leoanrd and Joe Frazier era, I was amazed at how much I liked this movie. Two thumbs way up!

Quran Abuse Investigation

You know, if someone in this country did any of this to a Christian Bible, I kind of think the attitude would be "Yeah, so?" Honestly, the muslims who hate us will use this as an excuse, but it's a cop out. They hate us anyway, and will go on hating us. -
BCM Gold - Up and Running at last. Any good advice?

The tutorial is in the docs folder. It sheds light on alot of game mechanics. Try it out. -
Consider what DL could have been without a PUBLISHER involved. It's really too bad that being an indie developer is virtually financial suicide. (Unless your Valve or 3000AD). I used to hate the idea of download-only distribution, but it is becoming more and more apparent that it is one way to circumvent the need for a publisher, thus I am starting to warm to the whole idea.

Oh, and SABRE- That is a fantastic idea imo.

E3 debriefing: Game developers are mad as hell

I wonder what percentage of developers envy SC. I mean, he's got the capital, he's got the label, he's got the franchise, and answers to no one! -
Ex-FBI Official Says He Was 'Deep Throat'
John Prezioso replied to jamotto's topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
The watergate scandal was unfortunate for more than just the mistrust it bred among the people. What happened during this period is that journalists like Brokaw and Rather became 'crusaders', and the era of the "larger than life" anchors began. Now, we live in a time where the Journalist, not the story, takes center stage - he or she is now bigger than the story. Essentially what you end up hearing is not the news, but the carefully arranged presentation of certain facts that advances said journalist's agenda, whatever that may be - from taking down a president to building a legacy. I for one will never trust mainstream media until the facts, not the anchors become the real focal points of the evening news. -
Well put SC. I especially liked the comment that said whether you are shaking hands in person or are posting anonymously, you are still you, and as such what you say in a forum reflects upon you. It's such a shame so few people realize this and feel they can slur other peoples' names because they are sitting unseen behind a monitor.

Entering a planet's atmosphere is simple - Just fly towards it! If you are really far away, target it and 'shift-9' to jump to it. You could alternately use the "FLY TO" "PLANETS" command for your Command Craft order. Your officers will let you know when your entering the planet's atmosphere. Putting on autopilot and hitting "shift-E" enables the CALS (Comp-assisited landing system) Egress is also straightforward. Hit capslock to enable VTOL, rise to an acceptable altitude, hit capslock again to enable FTOL, then rise up to the altitude that has an 'O' next to it on your altimeter. Hit 'O' to return to space. -

I don't know, but as a regular on the Bluesnews boards I found these guys to be WAY more civil. I guess it's all relative. Good show SC!

I remember when I lived in Seattle, I used to go the veterans hospital often. Something that always struck me was that there was never a bitter man in the bunch. As I would make my way through the hospital, I would encounter hero after hero, and as I talked with them, they would ask me how I was doing, how my wife was, and would always have candy and gifts to give to my son. To say it was a deeply emotional and sobering experience does not even begin to cover it. I never could leave that place without renewed faith in mankind and without tearing up with pride knowing that men like these are my fellow Americans. Hero is an overused term in our time, but these men easily qualify even by the strictest definition. When I think about what these men and those who fell never to rise again have sacrificed, it strikes me how insufficient the words "Thank You" seem. Nothing any of us can ever do or say can ever measure up to what these men deserve. Yet,it is all I have, so this year, like every year, I reflect on my freedom, get choked up at all of the memorials, and sit and quietly say "Thank You". Happy Memorial Day everyone.

Thanks. I have a pretty good rig, so UCAWA will definitely be the one I download. Maybe one day I'll work up the courage to try MP and I'll see you on line!

Okay - true confessions time. I have resisted in the past the urge to join these forums because I have always felt I was not hardcore enough; i.e. I have a wife and kids, a 50 hour a week job, I'm a part-time musician, and just never had the time to devote to keeping up with the game news and developments and such. I always felt like I was in the dark. Well, I've taken the plunge, but I still have way too little time to devote to reading/sifting through forums looking for answers to questions I am confused about. I wrote the above because I will undoubtedly, sooner or later, ask a stupid question that I should have already got the answer to elsewhere in these forums. Hey, it might be right now, but here goes. Are UC Gold and UCAWA separate products? I have just read the info pages on both and I am almost certain that they are, but I wanted verification. Moreover, assuming they are in fact two separate products, which one do I want to get if I want a more complete, "hardcore" experience? Again, based on what I have read, it seems I want UCAWA. Hell, I'd have no problem buying both - I know the money would go to a good cause (SC pumping out more awesome games), but I have to admit I got confused around the time 3000AD (wisely) dumped Dreamcatcher. Please forgive my confusion - it seems I am a little too easily confused as of late
-
This is good news. I plan on buying the UCAWA online. Thank god the mess with dreamcatcher didn't delay the game. Oh, and as a noob, let me take this oppurtunity to personally thank SC for years of enjoyment, and for staying true to his vision. The only problem with UC was that I had to stop playing BCM when I bought it!

Hi all. New to the forums, but not to the games. (Been playing them and loving 'em since 2000 ) Just came over from the Bluesnews forums. I figured it was time for a new venue to post in since it gets more childish over there every day. I kind of wish SC's invasion would strike there!

My small issues with the Battlecruiser series

"(any word on the release date for UCAWA?)" Info page still said May 05 for the online release last I checked. It's gotta be soon
