I think Chick is actually a pretty good writer, but a terrible game reviewer. His editorials are often laugh-out-loud funny, but I wouldn't trust one of his game reviews if he was the last reviewer on earth.

I loved the game from what I played in the demo. The demo is really meaty and covers a lot of what the full game will entail. By all indications, this is going to be a great game. I'm really looking forward to the final release.

They were saying what a "disappointing" opening week that Kong had. I'm not sure what past history has shown about opening the week of Christmas, but it would seem to me that with people being as busy as they are during that week, that seems like a questionable time to release a blockbuster film. Case in point, my son and I are going to see it (at least once) this week, as we felt it undoable, not to mention a tad incongruous in keeping with the season, to see it Christmas week. I expect the same reverence to the source material as with LOTR from Jackson, as well as the sweeping epic feel he has the uncanny ability to bestow upon his films.

If I might interject a missed bit of logic, a MAJOR point that Nomad and Aperson miss is that for a flu shot to be effective at all is that it has to contain the EXACT strain of the influenza bug it's trying to immunize against. Now on one hand, Nomad is telling us how supposedly easy it would be for the current forms of Bird Flu to mutate into a strain easily communicable to and by humans. On the other hand, he wants us to all live in an Orwellian Big Brother anti-utopia where the government has the right to mandate that you take huge amounts of dead viruses and questionable, possibly dangerous materials into your body, disregarding the fact that if the virus DOES mutate, the flu vaccine is very probably USELESS against it. Just another interesting discrepancy in the (brainwashed) mind of an unapologetic socialist.

Nomad: So are you saying that for the good of society, an individual should lose the right to choose what he or she puts in his or her own body? I agree that the mercury would probably be harmless to most people, but it WOULD be harmful to some. Sounds very "big brother" to me. I maintain the right to choose what gets put into me, and I choose no flu shot.

I was going to chime in here, but due to the level of contentiousness, I'll refrain. I will say that while Nomad's information is mostly spot on, it does not address the real issue here.

In America, nothing is guaranteed, but it IS possible to do exactly what you described. My father completely lost his retirement nest egg when he was laid off in 1999 at the age of 56. Now, a scant 6 years later, through shrewd investments, wise moderation, and a positive attitude, he has amassed an even larger treasure trove of cash and he still plans to retire at 65. And my dad was born into virtual poverty in a poor Italian immigrant family. He has made enough money to retire TWICE! This is America! It CAN be done!

Nomad Your post sounded a little contentious, and I'm not sure why. What does it matter to you if the US is not a member? First off, our "Neo-con government" as you so blithely label it gets no benefit whatsoever from the UN. In fact, it is a huge detriment to this country; it is like a weight tied around this country's neck. The reasons we are still stuck with it is because there is a powerful socialist/globalist element in the US that could care less about the UN's ill-affects on the US, and many more blissfully ignorant maroons who see the UN as "nice". I defy any American to come up with one benefit that we have gotten from being a member in the UN. I can list a dozen negatives. What have you got? Secondly, the US does not speak on behalf on any nation except itself, nor should it. All the UN does is give terrorist rogue nations and their friends an equal vote with the US. That is ridiculous. Furthermore, it is a complete affront to ANY nations sovereignty to suggest that a multi-national body should have any say whatsoever to that nation's policy or laws. We have a constitution that eliminates the possibility of anything that is decided in the UN ever coming to pass in America any. To put it another way, we are not bound at all by anything the UN says. So what in Heaven's name is the point of being there? Thirdly, the oil-for-food scandal is every bit as real and important as Able Danger. But neither get any press. Why? What's the common element? As if you had to ask. A very large part of the afforemnetioned socialist/global element is comprised of the MEDIA, who dictates what "truth" Americans will be spoon-fed each day. So, people who want news about story that might harm one of the media darlings like the DNC and the UN have to dig it up elsewhere. And you talk about objectivity.
