Yeah stations give off a lot of exp points (like 5000, right?) and so does killing ships hostile to your race/caste (it shows all the exp values in your html based appendix) I get half mine from stations, and the other half from blowing stuff up. So far i've made 230mil in cargo pods in about one days worth of combat. I always get excited when i see an STO in the cargo pod

The longest i game i've had would probably be a couple weeks in. I'm on my 12th game right now, 3 days in. Various patching issues, crashes, and install of UCCE 2.0 caused most of my other games to be short lived. Interesting story? 1st commander to be promoted to Supreme commander in a day

I think at the start of his post he said he "read the manual appendix several times". I've read it too and I agree, it does leave something to be desired, but it is what it is. And it talked about the terrans, thats the manual appendix. There's an html based appendix as well, that hardly mentions the terrans. People tend to overlook files. Other than that, there is no other history on the aliens, perhaps somewhere on the forums if you search deep enough, but nothing really "official".
-
You should have an online apendix that came with UCCE. Normally, it would be in this path: C:\Program Files\3000AD\Universal Combat Collectors Edition\docs\appendix\npcs.html That gives the history of all the alien nations (a brief history i should say >:C

alright, just had a chance to try it. Do u by any chance have any instructions on how to convert it? I tried converting to mp4, but theres this weird background noise in it. I tried mp3, and it worked for a short while. Im not sure what i did, but media player won't open any of the mp3 files. so far, its been a waste of time and space for me.

thanks a bunch

What tool would be great to convert the game music files into MP4 files? So i can add them in soundtracks. A download link would be appreciated. Im not at home so i don't know what type of file the music is by default, Thanks

Ha, i know right? There's a thousand reasons why this MMO might not become successful. At least you don't have to pay for this one... @RT Hopefully they will spend some time working on their game mechanics and then start working on decent graphics. However, i don't expect them to get much return on this one.

Free roam in UC Free, Enemies never attack
canshow replied to The Black Ghost's topic in Universal Combat Series
So perhaps taking over every starstation will bring up some positive results? If they don't have a place to RTB to, then they will just sweep forever or roam around, correct? Or is the flee order another option incase they don't have a place to RTB to? -
RT I am talking about 2.0 ODSs definitely do fire in 1.01.04. Theres no doubt about that. I usually take hull damage the second i jump out of hyperspace when its an xtender ODS. But in 2.0, they are just floating pieces of junk. I'd be willing to delete my 3000AD account if i ever saw an ODS fire in my 2.0 version. But since it hasn't happened, i'm not willing. @SC Well, i dont know what to tell you. Either there's something wrong in the coding, or by consistent coincidence, the ODSs never have a good firing solution. @RT I can't get rid of that watermark and xfire doesn't support UCCE, so yeah, besides Fraps doesn't have a video decoder. so unless you want to download the 3gb video...; i don't have money anyways. And i bet you a copy of AAW that if i jump in, move back to 5km, and sit there with my PTA off facing that ODS, it will still not fire at me. edit: VIDEO
-
Not sure if its tech or not (because it's always my fault, yada yada), so i'm posting it here (my other thread got deleted so yeah). Sorry for being a pain in the ass. Anyways, ODS not firing (as mentioned before). Finally got round to taking a video of the issue. This is v.2.00.01, and someone else was having the same issue with ODSs and we have the same version (what other version could there be?!?!) VIDEO!!! Video quality is a little bad. But when i'm going around the ODS, im flying within 1 - 5km range. As see you can see, i even lowered shields to 25%, went around the damn thing, and it still didn't fire at me. I also observed a large group of fighters taking out an ODS in my different game, all unscratched. No video evidence, but i'll make it happen and take a video if i have to

Free roam in UC Free, Enemies never attack
canshow replied to The Black Ghost's topic in Universal Combat Series
Oh well then, don't listen to me Ghost But SC I've never had anything larger than a fighter seek me out and destroy me, with the exception of an SDM and mobile bases on planet surfaces. Just saying. And i've already read almost everything on these forums game related to UC. It's just that old threads that have links in them, don't work properly (since that server move?) It's like the fluxfield of the forum. -
Nice Looking forward to another log.

Free roam in UC Free, Enemies never attack

The only way you can get a ship larger than a fighter to attack you is do a mission (and even i don't think the cruisers/carriers in those go directly for your ship) But yeah, this is one of the unfun parts of UC. Only ODSs, Stations, planet structures, fighters, and ship turrets attack your ship. For some reason, ODS's won't work in my UCCE 2.0 version, so thats one element out of the game for me. I think its how roam is designed. I might be wrong. If you want more enemies to attack you, try out cheat mode (im not sure if it works for the free version, but give it a try) Search cheat mode on the forums and give it a try. You can spawn hostile fighters (which will present more of a challenge than just 2) Another option you might want to try, is going into a system with only 1 jumpgate/wormhole present and camp that navigation point. Lots of fun .I just filled up 3 shuttles and my CC full of stuff found from cargo pods and made +65mil. -
So what you are saying is it could be a possibility. If you want to make a custom scenario, not a mod.
-
You can possibly make some models for the zombies and alter their behavior and minor stuff like that, but you really can't mod the game unless you have tremendous effort put towards the project.,, And you'll need those GBS tools to create those scenarios >.>

It just gets really easy to play after a couple of days. SoaSE is actually challenging and every game is always unique. Star ruler? Great weekend game. Thats about it. If you only play it like a couple times a day, then you won't be able to master it and kick the shit out of the AI all the time, which i guess is "fun" for some. But yeah Kal, once they finish the game some more i'll do another review. It's just a "no replay value" game at this point to me.
-
No online activation. Not sure on starforce, but its doubtful. But all you need to do is patch it up and you're good to go since there will be no more patches coming out for UCCE. You only need the serial to activate the game during installation (as far as i remember) About 65 human years You can do whatever you want in the game. If you start a new game, you start with new assets, nothing transfers over. I'm not quite sure on that one. You could do a google search, or check local gamestops, bestbuys and walmarts online. Hope this helps.

My thoughts on the demo: Pretty fun. But the personalization and complexity seems to go away after about an hour in-game. It's easy to play and seems more like a mass game instead of something like a galactic diplomacy or galactic civlization or something. Not to mention Diplomacy portion of the game sucks. Most of the time the other end won't keep up their end of the bargain when it comes to resources. 3/5 The fact that i killed 6 AI, on hard(5), in 4 hours gametime w/ 476 stars, shows it's not very complex and challenging. One of my battleship designs took out an entire system and the 50+ ship fleet defending it. Just one ship. No challenge >:C

Present. I'm up for some AAW if you can buy me a copy

same here im not going to pay to play. I rather kill Eve Developers than pay again!!

They are not very good for trading if you want to make large sums of money, but they will start you off somewhere if you do decide to buy low and sell high with those items (the inexpensive misc items, that is) I recommend going through the appendix and compare the prices of trade items in a region of space where you want to make trade runs. or you can just go blowing up ships, collecting the cargo pods, and selling what you find. That's another way to go rather than trading through half the game to get some money. Everyone's game style is different. You can have the books and videos onboard if you'd like to stimulate some roleplay inside your head or whatever. But once your crew is out of nutripacks, they will starve until they're dead. (Except yourself) And having half your marines starved to death is bad when you have 18 intruders onboard.
-
Yeah i am joking for the most part. My bandwidth will make the download impossible for the most part, bought or not. But Civ 4's interface was a little aggravating at times. (I did like the space mod for it). Once again, Whenever i have a chance to play it for a couple of days, i'll input my input.
-
Once I can get it Pirated, then I'll give a review on it. I hope its interface is better than CIV 4,s because it sucked >.<
