I've been playing for almost a day now, and every ODS i encounter, will not fire. They won't fire at my Engstrom, they won't fire at any FC that are hostile to them, they just sit there. I've even tried flying around one 5km away so it can shoot at me, and nothing. I even witnessed 6 FC take out an ODS without breaking a sweat. As for the sex of the character, i always choose Terran male. It appears as male in Tactical, but the picture is always female in perscan. I have all my cards updated and all previous versions were installed correctly. However, I can't give a screenshot of Perscan because the shot is always pitch black.

Thats not even possible. And I'm not going to argue about it. If you think that prisoners can beam onto your ship, fine by me. You don't have to argue and i don't really think that, but i'll just give it to you straight. I looked in perscan during/after the ODS and fighter were destroyed. I already had 1 prisonor onboard, but then the count rose to 4, then to 7, then to 9 and finally to 11. I don't think that prisonors can beam aboard my ship, but from what i saw, they didn't show up as intruders. What could've happened was that my marines captured them as soon as they beamed in, like by the miliseconds so that coding wouldn't show the people as intruders first, then prisonors later so it just made it appear that prisonors beamed aboard my ship. But they whatsoever did not appear as intruders when i observed them through PerScan. But, i don't want to make you argue, so I'll just call it a graphic bug or something on my end. @Nwah As far as i've seen, Pilots haven't used their weapons against intruders, even 1 on 1 with them in their own FC. As for the picture, it always shows it as a female in PerScan for me in the last patch, and in 2.0.
-
Oh? Well i was monitoring perscan, and all 10 people beamed in as prisonors, with all their health in the yellow. They didn't even show up as intruders when they first came aboard. Too bad i didn't have a chance to be part of the beta with 2.0. Some things still need tinkering with unless the version released as a standalone is way different than the free upgrade. But i'm sure its fixed and yadayadaya. Anyways, 1) Are ODS's new roles changed to stationary and nuetral? 2) Is the commander's picture in Perscan always supposed to be a female? 3) If the officers are the only personell other than marines that have weapons, do they even use them if they encounter intruders? 4) If the detention hold is maxed at 40, what's done with anyone else who is captured? Are they killed or sent somewhere else?

Hey, i was just playing with 2.0, and i just noticed something. Do prisonors beam aboard and surrender when their crafts blow up or get disabled? I just got 8 prisonors for blowing up an ODS and 2 more for blowing up a single FC. 1 prisonor to 11 is something you just don't leave alone. However, i noticed i didn't get any prisonors when the craft that was destroyed was more than 1km away from me and this is the only time it has happened thus far. However, i am sad that they don't shoot at my ship anymore...

No problem. Safe flying!

Well, it could be a bug, or it could be a bad install. I'd suggest you take your savefiles, keep em out of the 3000ad folder, do a reinstall to the version you have now, and then put the savefiles back. Start a new game, and see if this happens again. If it does, make sure your drivers are all updated. If it doesn't, load the savegame and see if it only occurs in the save. Let me know how it goes. You might also want to put your system information in your signature, since this is considered a tech problem and BCM is no longer officially supported.

Well, what i have said is probably not the final word on the subject. As for the probes, they're good for scouting, and keeping an eye on sectors. Like i said, there are a few exceptions to the NPC regeneration thing.
-
There might be no activity in those sectors because you haven't went in those sectors yourself and activated them. If you don't fly your AE there, NPC regeneration isn't going to activate in that sector. But generally, activity does seem to stop or decline dramatically if you leave that sector. (There are a few exceptions) NPCs do use fluxfields NPC units are spawned near navigational objects, 20-500km from any jumpgate or wormhole, and sometimes in random space. Read my top sentence. Yes, NPC ships that flee to planets DO disapear. Thats how they exit the gameworld. 0% chance of finding them ever again.

Present and accounted for.

The bastard made all my marines prep for combat while 9 intruders were pissing all over my ship But it's no problem. Let an ODS tear Operations a new one (along with his knuckleheads)

Universal Combat Collectors Edition V2.0 Upgrade
canshow replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Patch News
Nope. I mainly troll the forums and spend time reading all the old threads. The game pages don't really concern me since the forums is where most of the action is at. I'm also not fond of the new website layout, so i tend to stick to the forums or go read an article or two somewhere. I spent $49.99 (or was it $39.99? $50 sticks out for some reason) on a copy of UCCE in a gamestop 2 years ago. Box was in terrible condition, but CD was unscratched so i was satisfied 'till new patches kept coming, which disrupted save games for unknown reasons and caused me to be a n00b in the tech support forums about it. Oh yeah, and i meant DVD-ROM. -
Universal Combat Collectors Edition V2.0 Upgrade
canshow replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Patch News
Well i was talking about the UCCE upgrade to 2.0 And it was a limited offer? Well shit. Should've waited to buy UCCE for $20 instead of the $50 i had to pay. Guess im done with UCCE. Got the new video card way too late apparently. :/ -
Universal Combat Collectors Edition V2.0 Upgrade

SC Can you post some mirrors to the most recent 2.0 version for the CD-ROM? Or atleast give me them through a message? These links are broken (except for atomic mirror, but the waiting time is pure communism) The patch i got from http://www.fileradar.net/games/view/Universal-Combat/3101 for CD-ROM is very weird. I can't assign crew to shuttles, graphics are a little wonko when im accessing the in-ship menus, and there is some delay when im trying to do a handfull of things with the menu items with the Engstrom. Not to mention crashing when i try to click on the commlink menu and a handful of other abnormalities. Some knucklehead probably uploaded a beta version. I'm afraid the next patch I google will replace my whole crew with Resnigs and make me a commander of a Dreamcatcher love boat. *shudder* Hopefully you will be able to provide some insight. thanks -
Also, UCCE 2.0 questions What are the stats of the Engstrom? And which artifacts can it NOT hold?

4.Radeon HD 5450 512MB and i do have Physx, as the old nvidia card is integrated...

Yeah, alot of the player submitted mods make the game play a little more enjoyable but thats about it. It's solely space. It looks like they ripped a couple of things from SCs games tho xD

Well, I'd like to re-open this thread. I've just bought a copy of X3TC, and let me tell you, this shit is so damn complicated and immerse. Over 200 sectors, countless ship types, and etc.And because it's so complicated, anyone who is going to actually play it, will not go outside for days. As a matter of fact, it's meant to be played for months. Some players have been even playing it for a year. So yeah, it's a very time consuming game and i'm reading about 4 different guides just so i can understand the jist of things. Eclipse is right about the time. If you don't have the time (or should i say, don't want to) to play it for a few hours, each or every other day, then it's not the game for you. And as for it being there final tital, it's a maybe. They are currently developing TNBT (the next best thing) which could be something in the X series. I still prefer UC over X3TC, mainly because UC is much easier to handle and you need more than common sense to play Terran Conflict. Just my input.

IIRC, can't XPs hold up to 4 GB ram?
-
Hehe, same here Raziel. It was a tough cookie to crack when i was putting W7 ultimate over my windows vista. But yeah, the OS speaks for itself. Pretty nice
-
Yes well, so far the systems that have been affected are non-essential, or arent damaged severly.
-
I only keep repair kits and hull repair kits. But i have tried replacing them in stations and the problem still persists.
-
No, i mean, there is nothing going on. No firefights of any kind, shields aren't taking damage, nothing. But Navitron, Bridge, and Main Computer always get damaged to either 99% or 100%. When its 100%, it takes a couple of minutes to fix, but it doesn't require anything to fix it with except my engineers. All of them are auto-assigned to "fixing" those systems, and it annoys me when i have fighters to repair. Like i said, there is nothing wrong. No radiation, no intruders, no illnesses or disease, no ship-to-ship combat or me recieving any damage. The System Engineers just don't work on it. The system im repairing usually doesn't cost a repair kit, no matter if its at 72% or 99% health. I assign the engineers, and they don't do anything. It only works to repair it successfully is if that system gets damaged again.

Fanfiction, and the legallize behind it...
canshow replied to Kalshion's topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
I don't see it as Illegal. It's basically entering your work into a contest. The person with the best work, wins a reward, such as a steam game. In the perspective your seeing it in, it might be illegal. But not everyone on the board gets a reward, now do they? If only one or two people get the reward, it would basically just constitute as a re-occuring contest. But if it was given for every peice of work submitted, then it might become more of a legal issue. And what is the board owner going to do with the work? Write a book with it and hopefully it will be a bestseller? The board owner isn't gaining much of anything except maybe a good read. -
Alright. I have some more questions so i'm gonna just gonna open up this topic again, rather than make a new one. Again, these questions may be a little stupid, and some will sound like statements. 1.) I'm constantly recieving damage to my systems on my CC on Deck 1. I only have fuel minerals, and 20 of each repair mineral. No intruders, and no other damage is present. But my Navitron Computer and Bridge always appear to be damaged at 100%, and i find all my engineers assigned to repair NOTHING when they should be repairing my other assets. And once in a while my navitron computer is damaged to 50%. Any cause or inquries as to why this is happening? Which leads me to Q2 2.) Sometimes parts of my FCs (FCs only) are damaged to yellow or green color. I go ahead and repair the systems, but i notice they don't require any tools or anything to repair them with (even though i have them). I go and place all my S.E's on the task. I check logistix a minute later, and the system is still damaged. Repairs are still at 0%, and all my system engineers are getting drunk in engineering. Again, what might be the problem? Again, no intruders, no pew-pew going outside. It's this way even if i assign station engineers to it. This has happened several times over many saves. 3.) I read something in the forums about volatile minerals and how there's a section in the manual about it. I cannot seem to find it. I've looked in the BCM and BC3K manuals and my UCCE manual but there's nothing there about it. Can someone refer me to something about it? I've used the search button carefully, so please, don't act like im sticking some C-4 on it. 4) Does fatigue happen faster if my officers are saying something on the comms? It always seems my TO is high on FF after i launch alot of missiles or when she has to say stuff. (Being general. ) 5.) I read something about intruders and transporter codes. If i turn off my transporter, will the probability of intruders being able to get in my ship decrease? 6.) Do the missiles go for the aft part of the target? Because when i launch missiles at the enemy's side, they usually just curve around and have to make another trip or two to hit the target. 7.) Erm, just some curiosity here, but why do STS-Vagrants do more damage to a space station than to an ODS system? They do more than 10k on the station, but barely 5k on an ODS. (Full payload of 20 missiles on each) Does it have to do with the shrapnel released? 8.) Hehe, im asking for it with this queston. What minerals combine to make an ? 9.) Are all marine types equally effective when fighting intruders? 10.) How damaged must a cargo hold be for it to release all of it's cargo, or most of it? (and don't say 0%) 11.) Trade ships replenish a star stations supply of missiles and minerals, correct? If not, then how? It looks like the credian quadrant is going to run out of STS missiles soon. 12.) How exactly do infectious diseases occur in my CC? Is it from contact with alien planets? I certainly hope that is the case, i do not wish any hanky-panky going on with my marines 13.) Am i prone to get targeted by more ships if i carry valuable cargo like artifacts? 14.) Is there ANYTHING i can download to improve Resnig's AI? Maybe a long forgotten file or something? A leak from Area 51? Anything? 15.) Has anyone else experienced the satisfaction of killing your entire crew down on a planet?
