I used to have the same problem. Considering the save system is somewhat wonkey, try saving, blowing up your ship, and loading the game from the last save or from where you left off. It's just a suggestion, idk if it will work for you or not.
It basically just adds a crap-load of content onto Freelancer. You can make stations, pilot capital ships like cruisers and dreadnaughts, and etc. They host a number of servers (RP and non-rp) (need to download a patch in order to play MP), and there are more than 100 players playing at any given time IIRC.
Anyone ever heard of it? Seems like a great multiplayer mod. But my version of Freelancer from gametap isn't working out too well with the mod, first issue being integrity checks fail for some of my files. Is anyone knowledgeable enough to help me? The folks on the Discovery mod forum appear not to be.
Making loads. Also got gifted 100mil, so that will get me up a lot of tech. Main issue is the resources. Built a couple of ships and also got my 1st spacestation up and running today. Took me 5 days to get the spacestation lol. Hmmm....I'll definately have to check this out. -Sho It is very time consuming, you have been warned.

I remember pirating that game twice. It must have been a decent game. Also got past part of the learning curve on Shores. It is really quite nice now. Talk about a radical change of opinion.
Darkspace is a neat game. More of a spaceship 3rd person action than a station simulator. I tried Shores of Hazeron yesterday for a few hours. Steep learning curve is the least that needs to be said about that game. I'm not going to bother playing it unless I have a guide with me, and frankly the players in chat are not that helpful.
The idea is to be tactical in your gameplay, and in your approach on the battlefield. It will make you think twice before rushing or doing some stupid Call of Duty stunt.
Going strong alright

They have raised over 6.5mil, and it's still going up. I'm glad I got a pledge in, i'm so damn excited for this one.
