Personally, anything that mimics the human form could do much better wuth something of equal mass. For example: How much more armor/weaponry/electronics/(insert other bit here) could we pack into a tank that had the same mass of an aforementioned mech, but not any of the servomoters required to move legs, keep balance, orient body, etc ... In addition to packing that extra punch, these tanks could have a much less visible profile. Which is easier to detect/hit: a 14m cube, or a lumbering 60x6.5x6.5 man shaped thing? I'd rather be in the cube any day of the week ... [EDIT] As an extension of the above point, the aforementioned cube is also less vulnerable with its profile. To disable the mech, all you'd need to do is give a nice solid hit to one of the leg joints. The only orifices the cube would have are the wheels, the guns, and the manhole thingamawhosit. Also, the mechs center of balance makes it possible to disable it by delivering a high momentum shot to the upper body. While this may not cause much in the way of actual damage, it could very well topple the mulitbillion dollar piece of machinery, rendering our high-tech infantry unit useless. First, Monsters, Inc: Definitely a kid's movie. I went in expecting that, and came out getting no more. The only thing that impressed me was the CGI involved, specifically with the hairy monsters. I was dumbfounded when I saw Sully laying face down in the snow and seeing all his hair ruffling in the wind. Now for the inportant stuff, the Star Wars teaser: This was not a trailer at all. It was meant to pique your interest in the movie, and remind you that it's getting closer to being finished. It did that extremely well in my opinion. Definitely couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen during it.

One idea that I'd lie to throw into this discussion: We may not have the fossils of every species that has ever lived on this planet. Fossils are not automatically created when an animal dies. A very precise set of circumstances must be in place for a fossil to remain intact over the thousands (or millions) of years from their time of death to the time we dig them up. Example: For a skeleton to survive, it must be buried in a somewhat rapid fashion for it to survive the process of decomposition. It must be completely buried underneath dirt for this to happen. The gradual shifting of earth from place to place by erosion does not do this quickly enough. A landslide must occur to preserve the bones. And here is where probability comes into play: How probable is it for a creature to get trapped underneath enough dirt for it to be preserved? If the theory of evolution is to be believed (notice I said if) in the form of "The Most Fit Survive", then there shouldn't be any transitional animals. All that are the most fit to survive, do, and their remains decompose, leaving no fossils for us to find. And now, I await the inevitability of my train of thought to be ripped to shreds mercilessly by those with a stronger conviction to their set of ideals than I.

Alright, the theory that the time travel (or FTL travel, I'm not sure which we're referring to it as) is just jumping into a new universe (or dimension, again, not sure), doesn't that violate one of the most basic laws of physics: the Law of Conservation? Also, from what I read, it seams that the "Wang Drive" looks more like a subway system than an actual engine system. They were only able to accelerate the pulses within an enclosed area. I have to disagree with the people who say that this movie was action-packed. Although there was an interesting plot to the movie, the action scenes don't really start until about 3/4ths of the way through the movie.
