Bug?

Hi,

Just a note of a possible bug, not a major deal, but I thought you may want to know for future reference.

SYSTEMS->TACTICAL->LOADOUT->INT->INT1-> WEAPONS

When I click on a missle and load it then click on the empty slot it will crash the game.

This may have been discovered and passed on prior to this but I just thought it might help to pass it on myself.

Thank you for a good (complicated also)game I am getting the hang of it, but I still feel like a newbie most of the time.

To better diagnoise your problem, it will help to post the game version your currently playing, as well as your system specs.

Hi Dusty.

I too had the problem that you are having and i found that if i removed the BC3000AD files from my system and reinstalled the software the problem no longer exsisted.

This was fixed a couple of patches ago. Which version are ye running Dusty Waters? I know that v2.09 does not have this undocumented feature.

Well, I am running the latest patch v2.09. In October I upgraded to 2.08. I have 2.0 on the CD I purchased. When I first tried playing in October 1999 I got discouraged by the amount of effort it took to read and understand the manual, but I persisted and picked it up again a week ago. I really like it now that I have a few of the commands down. I will try to keep a log of the simpler things I learn and publish a super newbie tutorial when I get some time, I downloaded a couple that were on the webring and they helped a lot, along with reading the manual several times. In the meantime I can uninstall the game and reinstall it with all the patches in order to be sure. Thanks for the help all of you.

Hi Dusty,

Youv'e not been using any of the PLAYMOD cheats have you? I had something similar happen to me when I used the infinite weapons cheat.

No I have not tried any of the Playmod cheats, I'm still trying to get all the regular stuff figured out. I did install the maps.

I have spent the past several days off and on trying to duplicate this annomaly without success.

This bug I know has been fixed, v2.03 I think. I too was a victum of same bug way back when.

Possible corrective measures that can be taken:

1 - Do Not click on an empty weapons slot; BC or IC.

2 - Completely delete and reinstall BC3k, with all patches and MapPax fixes. This of course is the most drastic route. All saved profiles and games would be lost also.

3 - Ignore this reckomendation and continue enjoying the game - just remember to not click on an empty BC or IC weapons slot.

Another possible solution to the more general problem of "crashes when clicking the mouse" is to ugrade your mouse driver to the most recent version. This has solved the problem of crashing when clicking on the save game button. It might help here, too.

Whislt beginning a new ACM campaign I managed to replicate the game crash when clicking on empty interceptor weapons slot. Managed to do this three times in a row. All were not done on purpose - just my lack of paying attention to what I was doing. Interesting, thought this bug was fixed.

Just tried to reproduce it several times in v2.09. Can't. Its either fixed or its a fluke.

I would have to say this is a fluke and no where near as bad as before. Thing was I wasn't trying to replicate this anomally. When I was trying to make it happen it would not appear.

The fix - don't click on empty Interceptor weapons slot (or BC). Not a major issue IMO.
