Well,

I *have* been experiencing some technical difficulties. My husband could explain things better, but I will try:

Here's the system I am using:

Celeron 400Mhz, 128MB ram, Abit motherboard, Diamond Monster Vodoo 2 + Diamond Speedstar 2d, Soundblaster Live!Value, 8 Gigabyte Hard Drive, no joystick (hope that's everything)

Anyway, my intermittent crashes have gone away since we started using the Win9x shell/skin/whatever.

I guess the problem is the sound setup. The other day I came home to a swearing husband as he was trying to configure the sound. All he kept saying was "This should be working, this should be working!"

He explains that I can't use the fancy 3D graphics under the current configuration. However, I am content with the current performance (but he's a nitpicker).

So, I guess our problem is sound setup. He's a computer technician, so I belive him when he proclaims that he has tried everything. Maybe there's something strange with our hardware or something?

Anyway, the game has been working fine through the Win9X thingy, so I'm gonna learn as much as I can!

Thanks for all the help.

(if this post contains nothing of use, feel free to send it to the digital graveyard)

First, the Win9x shell thingy is not supported. Though it is great to hear that you all have had success in running it. I did not frown.gif

If BC ran under dos then I would suggest that ye all go back to it.

Do not run Setup via the Program Menu icon. Run it using a Exporer Window or via a dos window.

Run Autodect when configuring Sound setup, then accept what it finds for Sound. Select same sound card for midi.

SoundBlaster or SoundBlaster 16 will work with any variation of the SBLive! cards available.

Something I failed to mention earlier -

I tend to configure BC3K in the software, non-eye-candy, mode before trying to get it to work in the 3dFx, eye-candy filled, mode biggrin.gif

Ah - running Sound Setup from Dos seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks!
