Jan Knutar Posted August 11, 2000 Report Posted August 11, 2000 Alright, I know BC3K is retired, and I know this one wont be fixed, but a thought struck me, "How much is BCM based on BC3K?".Well, the problem is that the shuttles aren't getting recharged, I have full power to ALL systems (yep, had the ship drifting with the solar panels towards the sun for a few hours). The charge seems to be depleted by 1% for every launch, that makes less than 100 launches before the shuttle is without power. I have a savegame where this has happened. You can still fly the shuttle, but the shields are down.I don't know if this bug has already been reported, if so, then please ignore and/or delete this post (not that I want to stress the moderators).(just to be sure you can charge the shuttles in BCM...)BTW, this bug should be quite reproducible.
Jan Knutar Posted August 11, 2000 Author Report Posted August 11, 2000 Oh sorry, I thought you were suposed to be able to charge the shuttle and atv reactors somehow, like the interceptors that get recharged before they're launched again.
Supreme Cmdr Posted August 12, 2000 Report Posted August 12, 2000 They do, but like the Interceptors, it depends on a lot of things. eg flight engineers, systems state etc.Have you ever had a shuttle that won't launched due to insufficient charge?
Jan Knutar Posted August 12, 2000 Author Report Posted August 12, 2000 I've never had a shuttle that wouldn't launch. Shuttle1 in my current game has had a reactor charge of 0 for about 24 hours gametime now. I've retired it as a weapons deposit, and I fly it ocasionally from the BC to Stations. The charge is reported as 0% from the BC bridge, but the Tactical Computer's Launch menu always says 99% or 100% (I can't remember right now), they only report the same at the start of a new game, according to my observations.I tend to trust the bridge display more (hmm.. What's that box down to the left called again? never mind.) since when I fly the shuttle, both the reactor and shield indicators blink 0 in red...I can still fly the shuttle, even the Afterburner works. The shields are, as I said, down and impossible to raise.I figured that it might be a system state issue, so I powered all BC systems to Full, all systems on the BC, IC's and Shuttles were fully functional at 100%. Still, the reactor charge did not improve even 1%.You mention flight engineers. I usually man the shuttles with marines, so that they can defend themselves against intruders trying to steal the shuttles. Does the shuttles have to be manned by flight engineers to be recharged? Hmmm. There's something for me to test. Thanks for replying, I know you have very little time.
Supreme Cmdr Posted August 13, 2000 Report Posted August 13, 2000 hmmm, that sounds pretty odd indeed. Dunno. I'll take a look in the BCM code to see if anything fishy is going on in there - just in case. No, FEs don't have to be in the shuttle in order to prep them for launch.
Jan Knutar Posted August 13, 2000 Author Report Posted August 13, 2000 Yeah, and what's even more strange is that I don't have to have the Central Charging Unit (or sth like that) powered in order for the Interceptors to be charged.Maybe one of the officers turn it on when I'm not watching, or something, but it is strange... I'm going to try to not repair any of the charging equipment the next time the BC gets badly shot up, to see if that affects the charging of IC's.It could be that the charge is brought up to 100% at the same time as the repairs of the IC's. I haven't tested what happens if the IC's are undamaged when they rtb.
