Madrac Posted September 7, 2000 Report Posted September 7, 2000 Ok here is the problem, I configured bc3000ad in the sound setup and the digital worked perfectly. The middi however did not sound right but it was playing. i then started up the game watched the movie sequence, and after the movie i got what sounded like a few middi bleeps representing a song then the game froze on the start screen where it gives you options to continue a game or start a new one etc. so i killed it with ctrl-alt-del, and tried again now it tells me my sound card is in use by another device, and so does everything eles. Ok as far as system specs go I have a 700mhz with a AMD-K7 processor, 128 mb of ram, creative sound blaster audio PCI128, and a sound blaster audio PCI128 legacy device(I dont know what that is),as well as a dimond stealth3 16mb S540 graphics card.If you can tell me how to fix whats going on I would greatly appricate it. If you need more info let me know ill look it up.
Parias Posted September 7, 2000 Report Posted September 7, 2000 Did you try disabling music?------------------ Cmdr. Parias ICV-Galatae, Awaiting final assignment Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews
Tyrn Posted September 7, 2000 Report Posted September 7, 2000 ACK!! Disabling is a last resort of course.Madrac, I'm running SB 512PCI which is the big brother to your 128PCI.Try setting the MIDI device to MPU-401 on port 330. If that does not work, post here and we'll walk through checking what resources your card is using and how to map those in the Sound Setup.------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. Madrac Posted September 7, 2000 Author Report Posted September 7, 2000 I did just put in that i have no midi turns in i might not actually have a midi ill have to find out if i installed one. but i could get it to work with midi turned off by clicking on the regular bc300ad.exe icon insdtead of the 3dfx one. Am i missing much by not clicking on the 3dfx icon is the game any different or should i just let it go since its working? P.S. i will get back to you tomorow ifi have midi installed or not.
Wold Posted September 7, 2000 Report Posted September 7, 2000 Are you running ver. 2.09? Have you enabled midi and run the BC3000ad.exe and does it fail or work? You should have midi. You probably already know how to find out but, just in case , - right-click on My Computer, left-click on properties, left-clikc on Device manager. Make sure the radial dot is selected next to View devices by type (just under Device Manager). Left-click the + next to Sound, video and game controllers. It could be listed as midi, mpu-401, or buried somewhere else. If it is 1 of those 2, double-left-click on it and the properties show up. Left click on resources and the Inpu/Output range will show up. Under the heading Setting is the address. you should see 0330-0331 or something close to that. I have the SB Live and these settings are under the catagory of Creative Miscellaneous Devices, item SB16 Emulation (mine doesn't list midi or mpu seperate). Hope this helps------------------ Commodore Wold ICV-Drakr, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commanding Officer, Spectre HQ Spectre FleetICQ 4669033
Rattler Posted September 7, 2000 Report Posted September 7, 2000 Can somebody tell me that the Diamond S540 is even capable of running in 3dfx mode? Maybe that's the problem all along? I personally have no knowledge ot this card but I do own a Monster Fusion that operates on the correct chipset to run 3dfx. ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester,Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104

Reading Madrac's last post, you have probably hit on a major problem the S540 does not support Glide (3dfx) as per this page.Madrac, try using your current settings but not using the 3dfx shortcut.------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. Supreme Cmdr Posted September 7, 2000 Report Posted September 7, 2000 yeah, and we know who didn't read the FAQ
Madrac Posted September 8, 2000 Author Report Posted September 8, 2000 Ok I got the game to work, I just diabled midi sound and clicked on the normal Bc3000ad.exe icon, and i can play it from there. The video card was supposed to be one of the more up to date ones around(still not a voodoo3 but close) however i plan to upgrade to a Voodoo soon, so if that fixes the 3dfx problem ill let you all know. thanks for your help.

DOS Glide, which is required to run BC3K in 3DFX mode, is usually only supported by Voodoo cards. Most video cards, Diamond included, have never supported Glide.I would strongly suggest that you review the Troubleshooting FAQ and the Version Control File as they can help walk you through your MIDI problems.------------------ Commander Tyrn Marcel GCV Falcon, Wraith HQ (Lyrius) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/S.O.G. Guest CmdrBlacky Posted October 4, 2000 Report Posted October 4, 2000 I know. Dead discussion but I had to say one thing. Diamond did make some Voodoo cards at one time. But they have not made any since 3DFX bought STB.
Rattler Posted October 4, 2000 Report Posted October 4, 2000 For those who are following this thread, Diamond did indeed make some 3dfx cards. Look for Monster Fusion cards, they're Voodoo Banshees! ------------------ Insurgent One, Rattler ICV Necromancer, Spectre HQ (Antis) Commander-In-Chief, Insurgency Official Tester,Battlecruiser Series [email protected] ICQ 12894104

Rattler Posted October 5, 2000 Report Posted October 5, 2000 No harm, No foul here. I wouldn't have known it if I didn't own 2 of them Tyrn!
