I have a Pentium 855mhz with 256 megs memory, Toshiba DVD CD-R/CDRW, Sound Blaster PCI 128 and MS Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick and MS Wheel Mouse. I am running Windows ME. I have purchased Battlecruiser 3KAD Version 2.7. I downloaded and installed the two patch files 2.7 to 2.8 and 2.8 to 2.9. The program runs well until I get to the start new game screen where I need to enter a pilot name in one of the columns. At first there is only one column, but when I click on a box, the second column appears and the system freezes so tight to have to power off the system. I already turned off the sound settings to see if the drivers were at fault, but the game froze again at the same spot. I turned on the sound again. Can't play the game until this problem is resolved and I can only watch the beginning credits so far.

Welcome BigTom! First things first on your problem. Have you read the Troubleshooting FAQ located here? http://www.bc3000ad.com/files/bc3kfaq.html

Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but hasn't it been posted elsewhere in this forum to the effect that BC3K is "unsupported" on WinME?

Right you are, Joel.

Q. WILL BC3K v2.0x RUN UNDER WIN ME?

A. Probably not. And if you did get it to run, it is unsupported. Good luck trying to get it to work.

The above was taken from the Troubleshooting FAQ.

Yep, time to switch back to Win98 or SE, but Windows ME will not run it, may want to try and run it out of a DOS window, but I am not sure there is one in Windows ME. Wish I could be more help, but I have stayed away from the new operating systems like the plague.

Windows 98SE is finally running somewhat stable, and now they don't even support it with new drivers anymore. I love Windows!!!

Is there any other possible solution to this problem (other than downgrading to Win 98)? I am having an identical problem with BC3K, but I am running 98SE. The error occurs with the boxed 2.0, patched 2.08, and patched 2.09.

I have verified that the program is being correctly patched.

*** The issue with the program occurs BOTH when my processor is overclocked AND when it is "stock-clocked". Therefore, the overclocking is not the problem. ***

System specs:

Processor: Intel Celeron 700 at 872 MHz (83 MHz FSB, core voltage 1.85 V)

Ram: 224 MHz 10 ns SDRam

Video: ATi Radeon 64 meg DDR VIVO (Driver version 4.13.7115 beta)

Sound: SB Live!Valve (Liveware 3) (A240, IRQ7, DMA3 for SB16 Emulation)

Motherboard: ABIT VH6 using BIOS ID "XR" (March 1'st, 2001)

DirectX Version: 8.1 beta

Operating system: Win 98SE / Win2K Pro Dual Boot (BC3K being run from the 98SE partition)

Any suggestions (save the overclocking issue, which is not the problem) would be very much appreciated.

The SVGA mode that BC3K uses is probably not compatible with your ATI Radeon.

Either that, or its the sound card

...or memory configuration

Yep SC is right, I too am a Radeon user and I've been smacked upside the head with the same problem. I posted around on the rage3d website about it (a good radeon site) and havn't gotten much feedback yet. Radeon doesn't like BC3K at all. It does work well with BCM though :-). If I find a fix from the guys from rage3d I'll post it here. In the meantime I've got to go get my voodoo rush out of the closet

I second that. While I don't own a Radeon, Windows ME has yet to give me any problems with BC3000AD. In fact, I personally think it runs better than Windows 98SE.

Could just be me though.
