BC3K v2.09 under WIN2K

Its possible to run BC3K under WIN2K using a combo of these resources.

I haven't tried any, so don't ask me for a template on how to do it. If someone succeeds, I'd like to know about it

1. You need to fool the installer into thinking that its running under WIN98. To do that, you need to read this. Once installed....

2. You need to either run it from inside a shell like VMware

   or

3. Run it as a normal DOS app under WIN2K and use VDM Sound to emulate a sound driver if you want sound to work. Run the Sound Setup program once you've got VDM sound running OK.

You can also install WIN98 or WINME in a dual boot system. This comes handy if you have other legacy games which won't run under WIN2K. For resources on setting up a dual boot environment, check the resource links on our site.

Well, I have tried in vain to get it to install on my win2k system. I trick it with Compatability mode initially, but after it restarts the system, it thinks for a while and comes up with a "wont run on win2k" type message.

Hmm, anyone else try this sucessfully yet?

I have been thinking about trying... but haven't gotten around to it. Too many other things going on.

Odd I just tried it. Just stuck the CD in and double clicked "setup" seems to be installing without any problems... Now to see if it will actually RUN the game.

Ok the game did RUN, and I DID get into Xtreme Carnage without mishap. I did run into a sort of major problem... the mouse was limited to a little box on the upper left, almost as if that was what it thought the extent of my screen was. Made it slightly difficult to get into certain things.

Eclipse. The original BC3K CD-ROM and the freeware, use different installers. In the freeware release, I deliberately disabled WIN2K installation. I think there is a commandline override, but am not sure. I will check with Installshield about that.
