What to do if you run out of gas(or Radine)

Ok, so I'm flying along, doing the usual Earth/Pluto deflector array run, when suddenly the CE barks,"We are criticly low on radine crystals!" I think, hey, np, I'll make it to the station. Suddenly, BOOM! The reactor goes out, engine shuts off, and I look around the bridge, with every officer staring at me, so I shout,"It wasn't me!"

I assigned my AE to a shuttle, but discovered that there wasn't enough power to launch it! So I had to use one of the least used components: the Solar Reactor! I turned my BC so the upper part of the ship faced the sun, then had JUST enough power to launch the shuttle. I quickly made my way back to GalCom HQ, when the shuttle was attacked by pirates!

3 of them beamed aboard, but I hid behind a bulkhead, and jumped behind 'em and blasted 'em with my wristlaser!

But I finaly got to GalCom HQ, bought the Radine, and returned to the battlecruiser unscathed! I later learned that one of the flight officers single-handledly captured a group of pirates and got a promotion. But that's another story

(Ok, so the things with the "killing pirates with my wristlaser didn't REALLY happen, but it was still cool to RP )

So don't think that the solar reactor is completely useless, it just might save your life(and your ship )

Good work. Learning to use all the systems, even the ones you think you don't need, can save your ass in times like those.

Also, if you're attacked, and the Nuke Reactor is dead, use the solar one. But, if both are gone, good luck, because you're a sittin' duck, and you can't do anything about it (at least, not from inside the ship directly). Hopefully you're in a friendly zone, or at least a friendly ship is able to pick up an SOS, and tow you home...

happened to me too, and i also launched the shuttle, but instead of just running to the base to buy radine, i towed the whole BC home. the shuttle┬┤s tractor beam is immensely powerful, and it holds on the BC even when you hyperjump.
