chained_angel Posted September 12, 2001 Report Posted September 12, 2001 First of all, is there any appendix or section of the manual that explains diplomacy in detail? Something I can read that I might have missed?Second, my question is what does "Passive" mean? I see Empirians-Vesperons: Hostile. Clear enough. Then Terrans-Vesperons: Passive. And also, when I went to Sygan (Terran), it turned into an enemy station. That really confused me. Can someone explain diplomacy for me?
Epsilon 5 Posted September 12, 2001 Report Posted September 12, 2001 Passive means neutralSygan has an Insurgent station. As a terr/mil, you are definitely and enemy of it.
Rico Jansen Posted September 12, 2001 Report Posted September 12, 2001 Well, Insurgents vs. Earth military are not exactly the same as inter-racial relationships. There is a special appendix dedicated to explanation of the current (start of bc3k game) state of affairs and their causes. But I believe the manual states exactly the same. The messages you recieve in Commlink are scripted only. Only those you got in free-flight, and perhaps more in ACM. (didn't get them yet) It's completely based on the story. There is no state-of-affairs reporting code in the game as far as we are aware of. And as Epsilon explained, passive means you've (this case Terrans at large) come upon the bad impressions stage. If you need to know a bit of the technical side of things, the GBS pack has a file that states the mutual diplomacy start-up state of universe. Friendlyness is described by a number between 200 and 0; 100 being neutral. But appart from scripted commands I'm not sure about the extend of interactive player influence on it.[ 09-12-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
chained_angel Posted September 13, 2001 Author Report Posted September 13, 2001 OK, I just re-read the Castes appendix. So Insurgents attack Galcom ships - I get that. Any other castes stations to avoid? I haven't had a problem with raider stations (yet).
Epsilon 5 Posted September 13, 2001 Report Posted September 13, 2001 As a terran military your enemies are the the hostile military (credian, valkerie and gammulan), the insurgents, the raiders and the criminals.
chained_angel Posted September 15, 2001 Author Report Posted September 15, 2001 So I should stay away from Raider stations too? I haven't had any problems with them (yet).
Rico Jansen Posted September 15, 2001 Report Posted September 15, 2001 Depends on what you want to do. Docking is not possible. Raiders won't let you. But ofcourse if you have enough Vagrants and cloak fuel and can be carefull on your IOD trigger, then it's al yours. ... In any case when your BC or ICs get close enough to a raider station they'll be fired upon.[ 09-15-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
chained_angel Posted September 15, 2001 Author Report Posted September 15, 2001 Oh OK - I had thought that Centron was a raider station, but I looked it up again and found it was trader so that's why I was able to dock to it.Thanks for your help!
