seacow Posted September 27, 2001 Report Posted September 27, 2001 Sorry all out there who would probably take every chance to place a newbie in an airlock and then with a sudden smile of hatred eject him while in hyperspace, but I really gotta ask these questions...1) I can't download the missionpackfile for BC3000AD. It's simply is'nt there...2) After running ACM for a while my computer tend to get REALLY laggy. It happens a bit on in the first mission (when to escort a diplomat ship designated DIPLOMAT1). I have a pentium 333m/hz with 64mb ram and a voodoo3 card (16mb) so I dont think my machinery is the prob.3) You all play BC3000AD 2.09, rigth? Something other is not on the market, rigth?4) As you probably understand from my previous questions I will really have help from the famous trainingscript. Can't find it though...Hope Im not as much trouble as I think iam =)
Guest $iLk Posted September 27, 2001 Report Posted September 27, 2001 Well this probably would have belonged in Legacy discussions first of all, however, I'm not sure what would be causing that on your computer. Are you using the FREE downloaded version?I'm not sure if that would have something to do with it as I believe there may need to be a command line option change or something. But bc3k always has had some problems. The new game Battlecruiser Millennium will be out next month, so if you like what you saw in BC3k you will love BCM.After Edit: BTW I have the mappack and the cheats for BC3k but if you are running 2.09 they should already be there. Just double check and make sure you can see cities/zones on the planets[ 09-27-2001: Message edited by: $iLk ]
Supreme Cmdr Posted September 27, 2001 Report Posted September 27, 2001 Seacow, you didn't look hard enoughAnd if you are playing the freeware download, those files are already included. Here's a tip: READ the docs provided with the download.
Epsilon 5 Posted September 28, 2001 Report Posted September 28, 2001 Will a falling anvil will hit you hard enough?
Guest $iLk Posted September 28, 2001 Report Posted September 28, 2001 Classic newbie welcome: RTFM Welcome to our community!
seacow Posted September 28, 2001 Author Report Posted September 28, 2001 Thanks! (I suppose...) Ok let me get this straigth... The insurgent/raider/traider careers, do I have them if I use the freeware 2.09? The missing download I talked about was this http://www.3000ad.com/downloads/bc3k/gbs/bc3kmpak1.zip Still isnt there... And what game are you all playing exactly? I thougth BCM was not released yet but still you ask ingame questions... I don't get it...And yes I have ReadThe****ingManual but still, these questions have to be asked.I really feels like one in the gang, dudes! Seacow: There's a reason that certain language is censored on this board and I'd appreciate it if you'd respect those reasonings. --Aramike[ 09-28-2001: Message edited by: seacow ][ 09-29-2001: Message edited by: aramike ]
Epsilon 5 Posted September 28, 2001 Report Posted September 28, 2001 Maybe more like the Fine manual Hmm you have the retail? No problem, go to the download page. Have the free version? They should be included.
Rico Jansen Posted September 28, 2001 Report Posted September 28, 2001 Appearantly the SC moved that file to another place, so the link went dead. Use the link the SC provided. But since you implied you have the freeware version, search your bc3k folder for the files.Computer going laggy is most surely happening at T+10 mins. It's the moment when all (non-ACM) NPCs (hundreds I think) are automatically created. Totally natural behaviour.Training scripts, there are two Cmdrs that have made their scripts public. One is of Gallion (Insurgent ACM) and the other is from Pugwash(convoy script). Both should be attainable by link in the GBS section somewhere. We're either playing tricks on our minds (and SC's ) or playing bc3k 2.09. BCM in the next few weeks or so.
Pugwash Posted September 28, 2001 Report Posted September 28, 2001 Ok I'll go through your points to clear up any misunderstandings. If you have downloaded the free version you do not need to download any files they are included. If you are running any other boxed version please state. The link to bc3kmpak1.zip is broken but you have indicated you are running the FREE version and you don't need it, it's included. To run the missions just select the one you want from MISCOM. Yes, soon after you start the first Tod the frame rates do drop, but will improve as you progress through the Tods If the FPS are to low try reconfiguring the graphic setting to give improved performance may help?, but unlikely as the cause of the slow down is the CPU intensive AI processing so more CPU power is needed. This can be achieved in several ways faster /more power full CPU etc or shutting down all those windows background programs before you launch BC3K. BC3000AD 2.09 is the latest and last version and is the version everyone should be running. The bc3kmpak1.zip contains only TERRAN/INSURGENT, TERRAN/RAIDER and TERRAIN/TRADER missions no training script. Yep BCM has not been released yet, but has gone gold and due early October, the demo's, many in game screen shots and the now empty (since Gold) Version Control File have been released by the SC. These sources of information have encouraged commanders to seek clarification and ask questions about BCM.
seacow Posted September 28, 2001 Author Report Posted September 28, 2001 Thanks to you dudes, I can now wake up in the morning and not feel that im totaly empty inside! Many great thanks to you for taking ur time..This with the ins/raid/trade careers I still don't get When I "Start a new game" there is only two options available: 00 - Free Fligth 01 - ACMHow to take on to the other missions? Do this have anything to do with the [Q/A] button in the bottom of the screen? When i press it it sais that im missing BC3000AD.DES and the game hangs...
Papi Posted September 28, 2001 Report Posted September 28, 2001 Try the link in the download page again, 'cause I just dl'd it without any hassle from the link in your post above. You need to extract the zip file into your scripts folder. And talking about training script, I'm trying to finish it (original unfinished script by Daniel Moritz [a.k.a. EarthCOM-Officer Daniel Allard]) when I get time and if there's any need for it.There are few other mission scripts by Gallion and Pugwash, here's the link to Pugwash's script., link to Gallion's Insurgent script you can find from the GBS thread (I think... )And almost forgot, welcome to our... hmmm... (I'm still not going to say it) daydream [ 09-28-2001: Message edited by: Papi ]
seacow Posted September 29, 2001 Author Report Posted September 29, 2001 Well, well... I suppose SC have "looked hard enough" and corrected the link... Now it works for me too... Thanks laddies!

Seacow, you are treated as you want and I don't want any of that crap, I informed you about file being able to dl, that's all. With attidude like that you're not going achive anything good here.
Supreme Cmdr Posted September 29, 2001 Report Posted September 29, 2001 I didn't change anything. The file was there but I suspect that it was cached by some browsers. Dunno. And my comment pointed to the downloads URL, not the file. So, I didn't have to look for anything. I knew it was there.
