Hello all,

I just recently heard about Battlecruiser Millenium and was interested in it because of the free-form gameplay it promises. When I came to this website and saw that the previous game in the series was released as freeware I downloaded it immediately. First off, I want to thank the Supreme Commander for releasing such a complete and complex game as freeware. It beats anything I ever downloaded as a freeware game, and I think its great to provide new players with the ability to play through previous installments of the series.

I really like the concept of freeform gameplay, and I am looking forward to BCM. Until I have really figured out how to fly this old BC it will probably have arrived in stores in europe anyway

Ok, I also have a question about how I can get my joystick to work, and since its about something thats covered in the FAQ, people that are annoyed about that can stop reading now. I also searched the Forum but did not find the answer to this problem, only a thread with a similar problem (about the Flightstick CH) which also could not be solved.

I know there is no technical support, but maybe some fans from these forums can help me.

Ok, I wil copy the thing from the FAQ here and then tell you what I did and what my problem is:

quote:

You can either select one of the

sticks it supports from the chart below, or you can create a profile.

My Joystick is a Logitech Wingman connected to an onboard Creative Sound Blaster AWE 64 - So I need to create this profile, right? I tried just chosing any of the listed Joysticks first, but the game tells me it cannot find them.

quote:

CH Flight Stick 2 yes no

Since the WC hat 2 buttons and a throttle I figure I have to configure it as CH flight stick, right?

Go into windows explorer, into your BC3K directory, and delete a file called JOYSTICK.SET if

it exists.

*** It didnt exist

quote:

From Windows 95/98, go to the Game Controller icon in the Control Panel.

Ok I did that

quote:

Click on the ADVANCED section and then select CHANGE. Scroll until you find the Thrustmaster

Flight Control System and then double-click on it.

and here is my problem: "Change" only lists my Wingman and a couple of empty slots with different ID numbers.

So I installed a new controller "game controller panel, "add", selected Flight Stick CH, it asks me for the controller card -> I tried once with the generic controller and once with the Soundblaster. Both times the stick gets listed but as "not connected". If I then redo the steps above, but If I change the Wingman to the new stick, that option vanishes again and Windows complains that it is not connected.

I tried and selected the Flight Stick CH anyway

game tells me that the stick is probably not connected, or something similar

So, if someone can tell me if either It CANT work at all or has got it to work on his own system, I would be grateful for your help. Otherwise I will just perfect my keyboard dogfighting skills

Greetings

The Eye

Ok, so at least I know its worth to give it another try.

Shortened the text and used quotes to make it more readable. I guess its the part of me that always wanted to write novels is braking through again, sheesh

Thanks for all the invitations. Im sure I would be more valuable for ANY fleet, if I could get this Joystick to work... So I am surely gonna be most GRATEFUL to any fleet that helps me solve my problem

I'll check out your sites though, Elio Jason, Laracuente, buckthesystem. THX again.

Vultures...

BTW check out the Orion Fleet

I don't have that specific joystick, but I'll see what I can find about your problem.

TheEye, it seems like the game can't find your gameport.

I used to have the same audio card and I couldn't get it to work under dos.

Are the sounds o.k. in the game? Check dos emulation under control panel.

Maybe I'm just shooting holes in the air, but it's worth checking.
