We're currently hiring level designers for the creation of interiors for all capital ships, starbases and stations, for GCO and quite possibly a stand-alone add-on for BCM.

So this means that we will have interiors

for capital ships? and not just stations?

If so how will you get around

it would be a tremendous undertaking to build internal levels for them. I don't have those kind of resources. And even if I did, GCO won't be out until 2003 if I were crazy enough to undetake such a task

Maybe after the failure of the latest MMOG, Anarchy Online, SC has decided that maybe he should wait until 2003 before he releases this so that the technology can be perfected.

I would like to have the ability to take control in first person and have the normal HUD only when you are "plugged in" to your station, ie. command chair. Other than that it would be nice to be able to move around your ship and actually have more control over crew destinations and the like.

Well, I personally believe it would be a daunting task, but if there is anyone we know who is up for daunting tasks, we have him here. The SC

Anarchy Online's problem is that its AN ABSOLUTELY, UNDENIABLY, BLATANT EVERQUEST CLONE. I swear, I've played clones in my day, but Anarchy Online takes the cake of clonedom. The game plays the same, it looks the same, and heck, even the monsters are the same (Ie: robots in place of skeletons). Take EQ... change the name, change the setting, add a couple things (Appartments) to "distinguish" the product and WALA, you get Anarchy Online. No wonder it's bombing. Same goes for WWII Online. The first time I saw THAT game I thought "OMG, they took second generation ancient flight simulator and added support for ground units! WTF are they thinking?" We need more Artifact Entertainments, 3000ads, and Bethesda Softworks (Bethsoft has their own ups n' downs *cough* Dreamland Chronicles *cough*, but for the most part, I enjoy what they put out).

There's nothing confusing about anything I wrote. You just have to actually, *gasp*, read and understand what I wrote.

Anyway, I'm too tired to explain. I'll leave that up to those who actualy get it

LOL, Unique HUD display and station trade and engineering screens anyone? Don't you people get it?

If you don't understand, put the SC posts in chronological order, instead of what you did.

Summary:

Message 1 (5-20): He won't make individual ship levels, because it would take far too long to make it.

Message 2 (5-24): RTF Message

Message 3 (8-9): He's just hiring folks. He may or may not have the individual ship levels, but we do know we're getting the stations.

Time will tell. Just be more patient, BCM isn't even out, and SC can't fully start working on GCO, if he's still got BCM to finish and polish.

I don't know where you got the idea that we are getting space station levels (maybe I just missed something). It would take an enormous ammount of work to design them, but if you are right then that's great. The way I see it is SC is hiring people to design screens like bridge view, views for different space station departments and interiors for buildings.

Oh, so YOU won't make levels, but you are hiring people to do it, is that right?

Epsilon 5,

Derek's statement is clear.

The implication is that as the GCO interiors are developed then he may develop a BCM add on,etc.

Anyway...

But will there be some sort of interiors in shuttles?

I mean, if you can carry 18 people, then the shuttle have a lot of space... just go in the demo, land with a shuttle and walk around it.

Yeah, and how about marines and pilots and commanders and medics and ...

I mean when you zoom real close wouldn't it be cool to see their brains instead of that grey and...

... cool down Epsilon 5 and enjoy, this game has way over any game has already

Does anyone remember the BC Tactical Engagement module for BCM, which I uploaded (a 20MB file) back when I terminated that project to focus 100% on BCM? I think I called it BCTE.ZIP or somesuch.

Is it still available online? If not, let me know and I'll re-upload to File Planet, and put these newbies out of their misery.

BCTE means Battle Cruiser Tactical E( I don't remeber what the E stood for),WAS an and-on for BCM and is now CANCELLED! It's a almost finished interior of a battlecruiser. It's pretty cool to look at and admire, and you can even shoot at hostile stationary bot.

Yes, I still have it. It is called bcte-test.zip. It is 17.3 meg as I downloaded it. (18,217,463 bytes; 18,219,008 used)

Edit in: Heh, It was created Aug 08, 2000 and I unzipped it one year ago today.

Um, not that I realy mind... but why was the topic moved here from General Discussions?

The question was more realated to GCO then

BCM and since there is no GCO General Discussion forum I just thought the next best place would be General Discussions.

Oh man that looks cool, this whole idea is just too much to handle. Have a capital ship, everything is so realistic and cool as it is, and NOW, it might even be possible to walk inside your BC. If that add on comes out for BCM, I can guarantee you that everyone who has BCM will buy it.
