Guest $iLk Posted December 21, 2001 Report Posted December 21, 2001 My original dissatisfaction with the original game (bc3k) was solved by planting my ass in a chair in high school, tuned out the teacher, and read through the manual, and anything I had questions about, making a note and checking out the pdf.For this game (BCM) the manual basically explains everything you need to know to operate your ship, unlike the last one which wasn't really in depth as this. The appendix inside your folder (with shortcut in your start menu) carries all practical knowledge for you.The tutorial inside your BCM folder should be of use as well (or is it online?)The BCM FAQ will help you with any issues in your system. And reading the Version Control File will let you know what issues have already been reported or fixed.Other than that, remember that posting here is a priveledge, not a right. Mr. Smart takes time out of his life to listen to problems people have in running the game. He doesn't take time out to listen to incessant b*tching about likes/dislikes. If there is something you don't like about the game, ask about ways to get around your troubles, or keep your opinion and go to add/remove programs and uninstall it if it's so bad.So instead of whining about things you wish you had (that you had all along), simply ask one of the helpful forum members and they will gladly point you to the correct resource.Coming here with a pissy attitude will not win you friends, despite the way you act on other forums. In this forum everyone treats everyone else with respect. Though we have arguments, disagree, etc. we respect each other's views. This is meant both as a word of welcome and a word of caution. We will gladly accept you into the fold so long as you keep your posts civil. We aren't expecting you to look up to us with respect, we are expecting mutual respect. Just maintain a civil tone in your posts and don't go attacking the developer, or the materials (or lack thereof in your opinion) having to do with the game. If you have problems, ask in a way such as :"Can someone please help me with such and such?"instead of:"This game sux0rs and I don't like such and such."You'll get a better reply. So anyway i'm going to say welcome, learn about what is expected of you in terms of behavior, and follow it. Just like you woulnd't mouth off at a family reunion in front of your grandmother, the same applies here.
Guest Posted December 21, 2001 Report Posted December 21, 2001 That's the great thing about this forum, or not , you get replies from the designer/programmer/president/et al of the game itself. No other game has that type of support, I am glad that we were able to help you. I am also very glad that you are enjoying the game now. It does have a steep learning curve, but once over the hump, this game is like no other that you have EVER played.Again, if you have specific questions about tactics in the game, etc, goto BCM Newbie forum, ah, you can figure out what goes where, they are pretty self explanatory. But do not post in an improper part of the forum, I hate to move posts around.. Anyway, need help? Ask...

The LOGISTIX computer pauses the game, so..Not for long..when multiplayer comes out I doubt pausing the game will be an option.
Tyrn Posted December 21, 2001 Report Posted December 21, 2001 quote:Originally posted by Joe Redhawk: Tyrn: I registered properly. I went from registering in the forum to registering the game. Wasn't asking for tech support.I know that your haven't fully registered properly because you would have added the system profile link to your signature. With that link in your signature, I (or any user) can quickly see what your system specs are and whether they might be contributing to any problem you're having. We really do like to help each other out around here but we also like to make doing that as easy for everyone involved as possible. Hence my previous post. Now, I must say that I am glad you've found such good help and that I never doubted for a moment that you'd find anything but that.Again though, add that profile link to your signature so we can do our best to keep you out of trouble... I apologize for my harsh criticism originally and now that I last for more then three minutes and slowly catching up with the curve the game is fun to play but a real witch to learn. No apologies needed. We were all bracing for inevitable. And I for one made a personal resolution NEVER to jump to conclusions anymore. Which is why (a) I moved the thread (instead of deleting it) ( I re-opened the thread (even though another mod closed it) © I decided to let the guys have it...with me taking the pre-requisite pot-shots from the sidelines. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm taking it easy. Its their site, so, they can run it how they want from now on. I'm just the guy who pays the bills and has the veto powers. quote:Speaking of ship pointing, if you set to jump to hyperspace and turn off the autopilot you can steer while in hyperspace and pull a 180. Yep. It was designed to do that. It is a left-over from an abortend Newtonian flight dynamics engine. quote:And that is the end of this thread for me atleast.Somehow I seriously doubt that.

It does update the internal ship systems and the outside world, but a lesser degree. In fact, go into Tactical and send someone somewhere, then toggle their assignment to display the location and watch. The outside game world is only paused *completely* when you dock at a station or base, but again, since you are docked at the station, their systems are updated, just like your internal ship systems. In multiplayer the only variable which will change is the pausing of the game while docked at a station. In fact, I started working on that code and commented it out. It will make its debut in a future pre-mp patch so that people can get used to it etc
