RTFM, and for that he should be congratulated. it was a pretty decent review... even though he misjudged us and thought we'd flame him. hehe i do agree with him on black and white... that game was just utterly stupid... if youre thinking of buying it... take $45 instead and wipe your booty with it and youll get the same effect good review overall though hey SC am i mistaken or is this the first reviewer NOT to bring up the past about BC3k? cause it seems every review has done that but this one...

You must remember, it is a difficult proposition to get everyone to like the BC games. You either do, or you don't. There is some middle ground though....I still can't find it yet.

Nah, he did OK, it is a niche game, and he actually played the game and RTFM!! OMG!! His writing was humorous as well, had me chuckling to myself a few times. Fair and well written, good job!!

I think it's a good review too... also, i noticed an "humble tone" that he's got when he tries to explain something of the game he doesn't understand and i like that tone in reviews, cause i hate reviewers that think to be gods. "after more than 60 hours of playing I couldnÔÇÖt possibly dedicate the time it would take to play it sufficiently to review it" "To the credit of BCM, I havenÔÇÖt stopped playing yet. To its detriment, IÔÇÖm not sure IÔÇÖd call what IÔÇÖve been doing ÔÇ£playing.ÔÇØ Well, practically it seems he's saying that is word is not the final word... something like "IMHO i think this of the game" tone. That's all... at the end with the phrase "I hereby declare that BCM is the game that I would most want to be trapped on a deserted island with" he practically gave to BCM a much bigger score than 75%. Spider-man Posted February 9, 2002 Report Posted February 9, 2002 His review was an interesting read. It made me think a lot about the gameplay in BCM. I think that his review is accurate in the sense that this game would be THE GAME to play if you have tremendous amounts of free time (or were stranded on a desert island -- that is, unless they finally make Leisure Suit Larry part eight). Anyway, this "Live the Game" aspect to BCM is the very quality that will make this series flourish in the multiplayer environment. In fact, I submit that the ideal format for this game IS as a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (which, of course, the SC has planned all along). People play MMOG's to spend large quantities of time in a fantasy world interacting with others and with realistic NPC's. BCM already has superior adapting/interacting AI to anything I ever saw in everquest. When the interaction with others and the "persistant" online elements are added, Mr. Smart will have a winner -- and reviewers will be able to relax, cause they won't have to tax their imaginations so much any longer. When I play BCM, I enjoy the time that it takes, the structure of the game, and the interplay of the AI -- but what I also see is the vast POTENTIAL of the game, and that is what keeps me playing it. I think reviewers often miss (or are just simply not allowed to acknowledge) the potential of a game. I bought medal of honor. I played it. it was fun. But unless the online community mods the hell out of it, all I have to look forward to is a sequel or another game with very similiar gameplay (essentially a sequel). BCM delivers and promises much more.

In the end I didn't actually really care about the review's pans of BCM I just really enjoyed reading a review that someone wrote with an honest opinion. He had no preconcieved notions about BCM or Derek and gave it his best shot. It just wasnt his bag of beans. He had me laughing like crazy at the mental picture of everyone on the starstation looking out he window as he completed the "grand" manouver of sucessfully launching and retrieving a fighter only to have his shuttle stolen. To boldly go... that was very funny Cheers

weegee_101 Posted February 9, 2002 Report Posted February 9, 2002 I thought his review was pretty good. He's right about the niche thing, we are kind of a too much time to kill bunch. I've actually thought about getting a second computer just to have BCM running non stop while I'm at home. Seriously though, out of all the reviews so far, this is probably the best one.
