Kalshion Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Im confused... according to the appendix you can equip system upgrades without them needing to be researched by the RE quote:Artifacts which are system upgrades can be immediately fitted when purchased without being subject to analysis by the RE. These include the shield, reactor, main gunSo why can't I install the PAD on my Firestorm?
Pedro Pablo Laracuente Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 it's installed, you can use it inmediatly AFAIK. just pres scroll lock once and fire
nasos073 Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Normally a Firestorm does not support artifacts as system upgrades (see appendix). As for the PAD, if it's an exception of the general rule, it should be operational just after you decouple your main guns ("Scroll Lock" button couples/decouples main guns).
Cmdr Nova Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Some ships dont' allow certain upgrades, wether they be Artifact or not. There might've been a list of this, but I don't think so. Personally, I've been just looking up the "shipdata" file somewhere in teh BCM folders, and looking at "upgrade" lines, and matching the item numbers with the "trade item" number in the Appendix. Confused? It's not so bad when you know what you're looking for.
Kalshion Posted January 20, 2003 Author Report Posted January 20, 2003 umm ookkkk but the firestorm is big why wouldn't it support the PAD?
Kalshion Posted January 20, 2003 Author Report Posted January 20, 2003 erm I was about to edit my post but i can't ok sorry I was able to use it =) *Sliced up this spacestar preatty good to I think I scared him cause he was trying to make a break for the wormhole even though he was basicly full of hull =)*
Epsilon 5 Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 the pad has basically unlimited range. with good accuracy, you have a hope of striking it from so far, its assets will need to hyperjump to shoot you.
Kalshion Posted January 20, 2003 Author Report Posted January 20, 2003 in other words like the Deathstar cannon? Come to think of it... this type of weapon would be devastating in MP and Online play and also now that i think of it... When I was reading the Halo Book, 'The Fall of Reach' the Covenet*SP* had a big ship they use'd to 'sniper' there enemie ships.. So to be honest with the PAD when your firing at long range enemie ships your really snipering them.. attacking them when they don't know who's attacking you till its to late.. the only defense I can see from this weapon is hypering and cloaking.
TARWMSRK Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Well... the PAD isnt exactly easy to get either. Sure one can just swing by some station and pick one up (correct me if im wrong.. havent played in a while.)but you need the cash, the right kind of ship, (any ship without a research officer onboard cant use any artifacts), systems need to be fine-tuned (and not shot up in case you happen to be one of those gung-ho types)-- the list just keeps going on and on. I dont think we will be seeing too many ships with a PAD. Or if there is one.. everyone will be in a mad frenzy to send troops over and jack it lol (or thats atleast what I tend on doing if I were to come across a ship with any number of artifacts ) Oh and the deathstar cannon does alot more damage then the PAD. The closest thing to the DS cannon would be the random weapon.
Kalshion Posted January 20, 2003 Author Report Posted January 20, 2003 Duh! I forgot about R.A.N.D.O.M. =D Hmm when you have Detach on your turning speed is very low so many there is a way to beating a ship like this... well in a fighter you can REALLY cause some damage
