awdougherty Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 I just read through it and didn't see any mention of this review on the boards so... http://www.pcgameworld.com/review.php/id/388/ The score is very respectable, but it always seems like the reviews I've read recently have been written by gamers who didn't quite fit the hardcore sims nut ideal. Does anyone know of reviews (specifically about BCM or otherwise) written by hardcore gamers for hardcore gamers? I know I never would have heard of BCMG if a hardcore gamer hadn't mentioned it on the X2 The Threat discussion boards.
SmokinBob1 Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 It seems like every review I read addresses the 'aging' graphics....??? I have to be honest--I have recently purchased software items, created within the last year, that had graphics no where near the quality of BattleCruiser Millenium:Gold Edition. That part of any BattleCruiser review always confuses me. I just got done with a game with 'cutting edge graphics' and I was sorry I bought it and sorry I wasted my time with it. I doubt if I will ever reinstall it. It had nice graphics though....but I tire quickly of jumping puzzles and strangely tattoed women.... Smokin Bob

Gonna read it later. Thanks for the heads up!
Tykell Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 The graphics in BCM are as good as most space sims, and plays even better. I'll take that over Doom III any day
awdougherty Posted June 4, 2003 Author Report Posted June 4, 2003 I dig the graphics in BCMG. The only things I could nitpick over are the textures used for planets in space (could be higher res) and the textures that go under buildings on the ground. It seems like these textures are supposed to look like a aerial photo of a multitude of structures, then the actual buildings seem out of proportion in size to the textures. But to be honest, I don't know anything about graphics and textures, so I don't know what goes on behind those specific instances. Otherwise I love the ships, the particle contrails (once I figured out how to disable the green arrows coming out the back of your ship... thought it was a graphics driver glitch for a short time until I read the manual), and the oceans on planets. I love being able tio actually enter planetfall and then skim the surface in my fighter... that's so cool.
SmokinBob1 Posted June 4, 2003 Report Posted June 4, 2003 I think seeing the changes on the planet (weather, day, night, etc) as I fly around aimlessly are pretty cool. Smokin Bob
