Guest bogusheadbox
Not sure if it is a co-incidence. But i notice the three screens at the bottom of the monitor (i have frogotten their correct terminology) seem to suffer from "static interruption" just before enemy craft turn up. Is this a planned aspect and side effect from ships decloaking? or warpgate activity ? (SC - my comp specs are comming - easy tiger)
Bobcat
The static interference lets you know that a cloaked ship is in the area. This also means that the npc commander has a high AI. It's a warning to be careful.
Guest bogusheadbox
Ahhh i see. IS there any indication how close the ship is to cause the interference? I often bung about with shields on 25% and main guns + pta offline to conserve minerals + energy. So i guess if there is interference, I should go striaght to battle mode. Nice...like it. UnderLord
I do the same bogus with 25% shields and sometimes main guns are off but i always have my missles on "select" mode i used ot cruise around without any shields on but then i thought that if they where to surprise me that i wouldnt have a chance so i just put on 25% to be safe =)
Takvah
I got hosed by a cloaked ship yesterday heheh. I'm sitting their minding my own business checking power settings enroute to a nav point. Ladeedaaaa, launch a shuttle, have a nice cup of tea... oh just 50 clicks to the gate... let's send the marines to suit up for the hell of it... I didn't see any interference but even if I had I would have waited for the broad to say, "there's something out there" before I got concerned. That's a shame too... because all of a sudden there was the sound of missiles being launched and then my crew really perked up. EVERYTHING was being laid to waste. I was in shock of course so my reactions were slow, my little heavy cruiser was being torn to shreds by an unseen enemy. Luckily I was near to the nav point and went through. My shuttle which was in escort mode followed. I called for the shuttle to tow me to a planet. I got there, my ship a ginsued mess (I was a goner) and then in my haste I hit the damned WINDOWS key. OOPS... ucmp.exe has generated errors flashed up. That poor Galcom Commander, he had done a nice job of toasting me and also taught me a GREAT lesson... and I accidentally deprived him of his kill. I think I'm going to pop off that damn windows key. Anyway... whoever you were... cheers to a SOUND thrashing you gave me. You deserved to see the kill. Moral of the story... in MP forget everything you do in single player mode. BE READY. BE ALERT. CONSERVE ENERGY AT YOUR OWN PERIL. heheh Peace Takvah
